After reading the back of the packet I bought this version instead. Two reasons:1. MyProtein warns that it might contain eggs, milk and soya. They warn on this because they don't have a sterile manufacturing facility. That puts me off.2. MyProtein don't say anywhere on the pack or website what the Inulin is made from. Homework Health is pure powdered chicory root, which is what I wanted. Why use it?:Anyway, why Inulin at all? I first heard about it on Angela Ripon's TV show about ageing, then on Michael Mosely's show about insomnia, I am not a person who uses supplements, and only take what a doctor tells me to, but I have recently been diagnosed with mild fatty liver and need a lower fat, lower sugar, higher fibre, more exercise regime, and to lose around 5 pounds.Inulin will not directly help much with the fatty liver, but it will help more generally with gut health and core fat. I am mostly using it as reminder of my good intentions. Using Inulin multiple times a day reminds me to eat a raw carrot instead of a biscuit, and skip pudding. How I use it:The recommended amount, depending on where you end up after a Google search, is 10-20 grams a day. I am using 10.Half a teaspoon each in four hot drinks a day is 5 grams, a teaspoon in my porridge is 2.5 and a teaspoon with either lunch or dinner is the final 2.5. To get up to 20 grams I would simple double all those amounts. You CAN sprinkle it on a plate of food, but it looks weird and puts me off, so I only add it to liquids, or at least semi-liquids such as baked beans (the reduced salt and sugar version, of course).Taste and consistency:It has a slightly sweet taste. To give you a sense of how sweet, I'd say it is about 25% of the sweetness of sugar. I used to add half a teaspoon of sugar to my tea - two teaspoons of this tastes about the same.It mixes in very well and there is no residue. If you plonk a spoonful into a cup of tea you will end up with a lump of it on the spoon which will go after a bit of vigorous stirring. So instead, sprinkle it in then stir and it full dissolves immediately. There are 11 calories in 5 grams, so my regime adds an irrelevant 22 calories a day.Does it work?:My liver won't be checked again for years, so there will be no way of knowing. I am the sort of person that wants immediate and measurable results, so this does bother me a little. However, I am comfortable that at the *absolute* minimum I am adding some fibre to my diet. Anything else is a bonus.Verdict:£10 for six weeks supply, is not a trivial cost, but is certainly affordable, especially now I am skipping lattes. It is very easy to use, does not ruin the taste or consistency of food and drink and, according to multiple sources (but *not* the NHS), is a beneficial supplement. I'll stick with it.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"M***R"},"reviewBody":"Well I bought this for a friend who has 2 children with autism. One very severe and they have trouble sleeping which means she is always exhausted. I tried it on myself before giving it to her and WOW...I had the best nights sleep in 3 years! my goodness I woke up refreshed not groggy and completely clear headed despite having only slept for 4 hours. I recommended it to my sister who is in her 3rd year at Uni and after 2 days she sheepishly asked that we keep the powder for ourselves as she also slept peacefully. It does cause ALOT of flatulence so take at night and it will deal with constipation within a day also. The night I gave it to my friend she took 2 tablespoons and gave the same to her kids. The next morning she texted me that they all slept straight through the night (she had prior to that night been awake for almost a week). She was so so happy. Awesome product. For those with autistic children you may also want to read up on the positive effects on them too.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"C***R"},"reviewBody":"I bought this as I heard it was a great source of fibre and could help reduce visceral fat as well as promoting a feeling of fullness. The price was very reasonable - the best I could find - so I thought it would be worth a go. I've tried it mixed with water, in a smoothie and even put half a teaspoon in my cup of tea this morning and it dissolves very well with no clumping or aftertaste. It doesn't really taste of anything - just very slightly sweet - so I think it could be easily incorporated into any liquid (will try adding it to my soup at lunchtime). It's too early to tell whether it has had a positive effect yet (am still on the initial recommendation of 5g - approx 2 tsps - per day) but I haven't experienced any negative side effects either. I will be increasing my intake to 10g in the next couple of days so will report back if anything changes.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"G***P"},"reviewBody":"As with all food supplements, it's difficult to fully objectively evaluate their efficacy. All I can say is that I bought this for all the reported health benefits, but without a medical review, it's hard to say if it's working. I take two scoops per day in a glass of water and it does help with one's constitution, but it's really important to make sure you increase your daily water intake, otherwise I've found it can actually cause constipation and have the opposite effect. I have tried other brands and find this one as effective as the other inulin products I've tried and it dissolves easily in water, it's also at a very good price point.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"M***E"},"reviewBody":"This has really worked for me. I feel seriously amazing, like a teenager again. I feel for the first time in my life I am 'here' and present in the moment. I sleep so well and deeply and wake up feeling so great it is life changing. I really hope this works for others too and I am amazed that gut bacteria are responsible for so much of my health. I suggest to anyone to give this a go for at least 2 weeks and slowly increase the dose. Going too fast can result in extra wind - but aside from that there are zero bad side effects. Only amazing positive ones!","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"K***S"},"reviewBody":"Bought this after neighbour sold me on it for maintaining a good night sleep. Unfortunately, I stopped using it and I'm back to square one. I've bought this again, only this time I'm determined to take it more seriously as I'm sick of being out of breath and looking like I'm 9 months pregnant. I add a couple of scoops to my cold drink before bed.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}},{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Z***K"},"reviewBody":"My wife and I are now on our second pack, that speaks for itself. We both only have a teaspoonful in a drink in the evening. In unspecific terms we have experienced and continue to feel generally better than prior to starting to take Inulin. Specifically however, we are both sleeping better and awake more refreshed and have noticed we don't flag as before during the day. We are both in our seventies and wish we'd heard of this earlier.","reviewRating":{"@type":"Rating","ratingValue":"5.0","bestRating":5}}]},{"@type":"Product","name":"Clearwave Health High Grade Inulin Powder 250g - Soluble Dietary Fibre Supplement - Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) Prebiotic Fibre Sourced From Chicory Root – Digestive Aid - Comes In Re-Sealable Stand Up Pouch","url":"/product/48154543","image":"https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71C1k-44aUL.jpg","offers":{"@type":"Offer","price":3863,"priceCurrency":"MOP","availability":"https://schema.org/OutOfStock","hasMerchantReturnPolicy":{"@type":"MerchantReturnPolicy","returnPolicyCountry":"mo","applicableCountry":["mo"],"returnPolicyCategory":"https://schema.org/MerchantReturnFiniteReturnWindow","merchantReturnDays":14,"returnMethod":"https://schema.org/ReturnByMail","returnFees":"https://schema.org/FreeReturn","refundType":"https://schema.org/StoreCreditRefund"}},"description":"\n\n\n\n\n\nInulin Powder Sourced From Chicory Root - Homework Health Inulin Powder is the premier choice for those looking to increase their fibre intake and improve digestive health.
