Bought the Used Model
I wanted to save a few bucks, so I bought a used Moen valve. The old one was 48 years old, installed when the house was built. I was wary, but logically how can it truly be used, then returned? I figured the problem was it was the wrong part, and someone opened the package, discovered it was wrong, and returned to Amazon. I think I was right. It worked great, and no more drips while the valve is off. So, I either got lucky, or I was right. I’ll be dead before it needs changed again. And kudos to Moen for making this design. It’s like installing a new faucet, without having to tear out the shower wall.

Good, solid repair part.
This is a high quality and well made product. The alternate is a plastic valve and they are not as durable.

excellent
fit perfect, saved hundreds on cost by NOT calling a plummer. turned off water, removed face plates, old circlip, then used vise grip to pull and slightly turn the old valve. and after 2 or 3 minutes of working it, it came out, then used some extra fine steel wool to rub out the inside of the brass housing, greased the new fitting and slid it in, put back the old circlip, [they don't provide a new circlip] tested the valve for leaks [was none] and reinstalled all the face plates and fitting and handle.. works super smoothly... less than a third of what lowes and home depot want for the same 1200 moen valve.. and a VERY SMALL fraction of what a plummer would gouge you for.. just wow

Genuine part. Should include grease needed for installation.
Original MOEN part in manufacturer's packaging. Solid, appears identical to cartridge it replaced. All I needed was to replace the o-rings, but that's wasn't an option i could find. The original part lasted 50 years and had a slow dripping leak. Installed with silicone grease (not included). This elimated that problem so far.

Perfect
My 40+ year old valve rotated a little stiff, wasn't leaking, but even turned to full hot was not as hot as the sink faucet next to the shower. I wanted to stay with the Moen brass unit so I went with this. Pulled the knob and cover off then sprayed it vinegar for a couple days, using a removal tool everything came apart easily, not sure I needed the tool but happy I had it just in case. New valve was lightly greased from Moen, slid right in, reassembled and now have hot water. New valve turns super easy compared to old valve. If your valve turns stiff or needs a tug to pull out, a good push to close, it could be a warning. Not a hard job to DIY, only tools I used were screwdrivers to remove knob and cover, visegrip for retaining clip and valve removal tool.

Faucet repair, you’ve been putting off!
Works great!! a little tough getting the old one out. Clean the inside with a little emery cloth into brass polish man what a difference should have done is a long time ago works great thanks guys.

It fits.
Old one popped out with a bit of work. This popped in place easily. It fits and it saved me a call to a plumber or a trip to a big box store. Second one I've purchased. Will buy again should the need arise. Be sure and make sure you buy the correct model.
