Nice solid unit great quality air hose and connectors
In the seemingly never ending search for quality products Amongst an ocean or forest of knock off’s without any quality control You need look no further there is hope BECAUSE THE COMPRESSOR IS DESIGNED WITH ALOT OF THOUGHT IT DOESN'T TAKE ALOT OF THOUGHT TO USE IT IT IS WELL MADE AND MADE TO WORK WELL With so many models to choose from there is sure to be one that fits your budget and or your requirements The specifications of the compressor believe it or not match its actual performance The power wire and alligator clips are sized generously but nice and short so that the compressor motor isn’t unnecessarily strained The reality is if you have very long power wires the compressor has to work much harder to suck the power out of the battery this causes the compressor motor to run hotter and shortens its lifespan. if you wanted to run the correct gauge power wire long enough to reach around the car it would have to be almost as thick as Some jumper cables on the market. However it is infinitely easier for the compressor to blow the air through the longer air hose to reach the tires Speaking of air hoses that was the first thing i noticed when i unpacked the compressor. Again going against convention the compressor comes with a High quality hose that is designed to last more than the 4 or 5 uses that so many other of the manufacturers are using It’s almost as if VIAR Understands the importance of getting the air from the compressor to the tires reliably and repeatedly without having stop every 5 or 10 minutes waiting for the compressor to cool down or In my experience stop smoking like so many of the inferior compressors on the market. My only real complaint is I wish the bag that it is stored in was a little bigger so that the power cord etc. Wasn’t bent over as soon as it comes out of the compressor. !!!ATTENTION When they say watch out it gets hot they mean it but that’s a small price to pay So I guess you could say “I KINDA LIKE IT”

Excellent Air Compressor
This is an excellent air compressor. Better than what you may need. This air compressor is a great product. It is probably better than what you may need. But as the saying goes, it never hurts to buy something better than what you need. You will never regret buying quality. I keep this air compressor in the trunk of my Honda Accord. I chose this model because it has alligator clips that connect directly to the battery rather than the cigarette lighter socket. Now, my Honda has small tires, 205s. I suspect the smaller models, the kind that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter socket, will be powerful enough to inflate my tires. But I chose this model because I also have a sport-utility that has bigger tires. This air compressor is powerful enough to inflate large tires with ease. To get this level of performance, it is necessary for the compressor to have a powerful motor. This powerful motor draws a lot of current. More current than the typical lighter socket can provide. Enough to blow the fuse on a typical lighter socket. That is why the more power air compressors connect directly to the car battery with alligator clips. Be careful when connecting this air compressor to your battery. Concentrate on the task. You do not want to mix up the polarity. Also, if your car has a small displacement four cylinder engine, your battery will be pretty wimpy. So keep your engine running while you operate the compressor, otherwise you might run down your small battery. All of this should tell you that this air compressor is not for everybody. These types of air compressors, the ones that connect directly to the battery terminals, are for those who know something about cars and batteries. You do not want to mix up the polarity when connecting. If you know nothing about cars, this compressor is not for you. In that case, get a smaller compressor that plugs to the cigarette lighter socket because you cannot mistake the polarity that way. It will be safer for somebody who is not a car person. But know that your socket driven air compressor is not going to inflate your tires as fast and as easily as this unit. There is always a trade off. Speaking of trade offs, I chose this model over a competing model that has a coiled hose. This unit comes with an uncoiled hose. It is more flexible than the type that comes coiled like a spring. This unit, with its uncoiled air hose, is harder to store but it is easier to use during a stressful emergency situation. Yes, you will have to find a way to pack the hose neatly. But to me, it is better to put up with hassle while you're at your driveway packing the car rather than at the side of the road with a flat tire. So while the coiled variety packs easily and neatly, that coiled hose will fight you when you want to stretch it from the compressor to your tire. And that will happen at the most inconvenient time at the worst location. A model with a coiled hose is neater and packs better, so it is not necessarily a deal breaker. You just have to know your own situation. If you have a small vehicle and are short on space, sure, get a model with a springy, coiled hose. Just know the trade offs, because that springy coil will be harder for you when it comes time to actually use the compressor. This unit comes in a nice box, but it does not come with a case. That should not be a deal breaker because it is easy to buy a cheap bag. Either keep it in its own box in your trunk or buy a small kit bag. I recommend that you keep all of the parts in one place because you do not want to be looking for parts during an emergency. Do what you can now to make sure that you do not add to your stress level during a road emergency. Highly recommended. This is an excellent air compressor for those who know cars. The unit feels like it is of good quality and the performance is very good. The air hose is easy to use. The alligator clips are sturdy enough, though I would want them sturdier.

excellent compressor
My previous experience with air compressors was with a "SLIME" brand one from Target which took forever to top off tires. It did the job but took longer than I would have liked so I gave that to my old man and purchased this one. I finally used this to top off all 4 tires on my Yukon Denali XL and it worked surprisingly quickly. Despite the positive comments by others, I was skeptical about how quiet this could be given the output but it is surprisingly quiet. The cord is long enough to get to all 4 tires on a Yukon Denali XL. To reach the farthest tire (rear driver side tire), I did have to place the unit under the hood but you can reach it with about 3 to 5 inches of hose to spare which is fine by me because the additional length would only increase the size of this product when you are storing it. If you have any regular passenger vehicle, the length of the cords should not be an issue. The light is not a selling point. I used it in daylight but it does not seem like it would light up much in the dark. If I could improve this product, I would love to see a backlight/indiglo on the gauge as that is what I would want to see if I am using this in the dark. Also would be willing to pay an additional $5 to $10 for a digital gauge that was built into this. The gauge itself seems accurate enough and with TPMS that gives me actual psi measurements, I can get by but it would save me the hassle of jumping back in the car, checking, fill some more, checking...etc. I wasn't sure why so many people purchased the storage bag with this but after having had this in my car for a few weeks, I would recommend getting a storage bag for it. The box it came in slides around on carpetted surfaces and will eventually come apart. I am not an expert on products of this type but it feels extremely well built and performs as I expected. I highly recommend this unit.

Impressive
Easy to use and read. Good quality and really powerful for how small and compact it is. Honestly, fill up time is pretty good as well, especially after off-roading.

I first bought a Viair compressor in 2002 or 3 (I think) Since then I used it extensively off roading in the UK, Europe and 3 or 4 trips a year round the the Sahara and further south until 2014. Since my trips to the desert were curtailed due to the Libyan civil war and general associated security risks, I have used it every couple of weeks to top up my tyres until it finally died a couple of months ago. I honestly couldn't estimate how many hundreds of hours of relentless pumping it did over the years. It worked flawlessly in the heat, sand, dust, mud, driving rain, snow and ice, and it survived living in the back of various 110 Defenders for nearly two decades. Anyway it eventually died and I replaced it with a cheap standard domestic type one from by a known brand which was basically tat. I got 2 months use out of it tending to both my wife's car and mine (which has a slow puncture due to a slightly bent rim). It was slow, insanely loud and broke after maybe 10-15 uses. I treated myself to a new Viair compressor as a replacement. It's more or less the same as the one I had before but a newer model. It's quieter, seems quicker and it's shiny! I expect it to last a similar length of time. If you are considering buying a home compressor - get a Viair. They really are worth the bit extra you pay for a quality product.

Bought this to replace my old pump that served me well. The only thing that I miss is the autocut off function when I can set a desired PSI and leave the pump to do it's work. I have added a quick connect to the screw on nozzle that allows me to do all 4 tires quick without having to worry about cross threading. The bag provided is bit too small and is likely to bend the air hose into a bad acute angle, so I recommend that you get our own larger bag to store the compressor
