Ok, most Vegan proteins are just plain weird. Weird texture, weird taste, weird smell, and most rely solely on pea protein. Ghost combines pea protein with watermelon seed and pumpkin protein, which is easier on my stomach, tastes good and still comes in at 20g of plant protein with no added sugar. I'm not Vegan, but I am gluten and dairy free, so this is perfect for me. Chocolate cereal milk is my go-to flavor and mixes well in smoothies and dissolves nicely for a quick mix with water. It's about the same cost as you pay for most premium proteins, and they come out with new flavors pretty often. The Banana Pancake and seasonal Coconut are also good smoothie mix-ins for variety.

This has been my go-to vegan protein for years. It doesn’t suffer from as much heaviness / grittiness as other vegan protein and the taste is awesome- very chocolately. If I accidentally take a swig of my husband’s Optimum chocolate, it tastes like chocolate-ish water in comparison to the Ghost protein.

Taste better than most protein out there

I have tried many protein powders. I am sensitive to lactose, so I choose this. The chocolate cereal milk flavor really tastes like the milk out if your cereal bowl after you are all your crazy puffs. It does have a slightly grainy texture, every vegan option I've tried has, but this is much more tolerable. I actually like to drink this protein shake.

I haven't tried too many protein powders (America's obsession with "getting enough protein" is ludicrous... but I recently went vegan so I'm probably one who SHOULD be concerned), so I don't have much to compare/contrast this with. But as someone who drank Slim-Fast back in the 80s, I can say that this stuff is pretty close to what I remember Slim-Fast tasting like. Unlike others who have reviewed it, I don't find the texture gritty at all. The interesting feature of this that I wasn't expecting is how FULL it makes you feel. A 120 calorie shake and a 200 calorie fig bar at 6:30 AM leaves me still feeling satiated at 11:30 a.m. I didn't start drinking these to lose weight, but I do seem to be getting that effect. I'm looking forward to trying the other flavors. The Cinnabon flavor is on its way to me now.

I originally tried this as an alternative to the regular GHOST whey protein due to dietary restrictions, but it gives me far worse issues with digestion, bloating, gas, and stomach discomfort than normal whey protein does. The taste and texture is also abysmal, nothing remotely close to the description. I was going to try to make it work until the stomach and digestion issues started after only 2 days of use. Absolutely would not recommend. July 22, 2025 Update: GHOST contacted me to make amends for the problems I had and provided me a full refund since I was unable to use the product. Great customer service. Thank you to GHOST for making it right.

I have a lot of stomach issues so finding something that’s works for me has proved to be challenging; however, Ghost Vegan is easy on my stomach and easier to digest. The quality is great in my opinion. It tastes good and no funky after taste. Great value for the cost.
