Outstanding product. I swell then loose large areas of skin if exposed to the sun. Takes weeks of Prednisone to bring my skin back to normal. I had to go out just 4 days after starting Heliocare. I took two Heliocare per day. Difference was like night and day. 2 20mg doses in just 24 hours was all the Prednisone I needed. No swelling. Itching but no skin loss. Weeks later went out again. Itching only and one dose of Prednisone was necessary. I use this with their topical clear sunscreen, Heliocare 360 Spf50 Pediatric Transparent spray, from Carethy, Pharmacyclub dot net or Parafarmacia-online. Don't confuse this with their atopic spray lotion. It has to come direct from Spain where its manufacturered. Amazon doesn't carry it right now. Put it all over including your scalp. Seems greasy at first but oily finish dissipates before you can get out of the house if you are a dry skin person like me. They have other topical sunscreens, less oily, but if you are a person of color make sure to look for the word TRANSPARENT in the description.

My whole family suffers from sun poisoning. If i'm out in the sun for an hour, later in the evening, I am terribly itchy and rashy on my forearms and neck. anywhere around the neckline of my shirts are red and irritated and itchy and I have to sleep with no shirt on and ice all the itchy areas. The only thing that works is sunscreen with Mexerol, and even that is not 100%. I took these pills for 2 weeks and then went out with no sunscreen. I do NOT advise doing this, but I just wanted to test how well this works. I was out in direct sunlight for several hours and no rash at all. None. I did it the next day, and later in the evening, I was little itchy, but no rash at all. None. I never take vitamins and supplements and I assumed this was just junk and was making jokes about 'fern power', but after all the positive reviews, I figured I'd just give it a shot. This stuff is awesome. I'm buying more for my dad so he can go out golfing and for my brother and sister too. FERN POWER!!!

I was given a sample of this product by a well known plastic surgeon in Fort Lauderdale. After a skin analysis and peel to remove sun damage he told me to use strong sunscreen and try this product. It seemed safe and natural which is important to me. I ordered two bottles, one to share with a friend who always forgets his sunscreen. So far it has worked well for me. I take one on days when I am only driving around town or outside for short periods of time. I take two on days I go to the beach or ride my bike in the afternoon. I have not had any sunburn at all since starting this product. I still use sunscreen but can't reach everywhere so this helps me to feel I won't be exposed to skin cancer in areas I may have missed. Oh, and no side effects from taking it whatsoever. I like this product well enough to reorder and the coupons they sent will make it even better!

Bought Heliocare at the request our dermatologist because my girls have gone to the length of really taking good care of their skin. Good skincare starts from inside and not just how you treat it on the outside. Also sunscreen is vital and we live in sun-laden state. This supplement is worth it. Our dermatologist uses it herself and her skin is amazing. She’s near 50 year woman and she looks like she’s in her 30’s. Love how great my girls’ skin looks.

so i have Polymorphous light eruption. it sucks. just started happening 3 years ago on my annual May vacation. i am from NJ and after much research, i found that this only happens after not being exposed to much sunlight since i am traveling to the Caribbean after a long winter. The rest of the summer, i am usually fine. I used this along with Prednisone, Beta Carotene, Niacin, Claritin for 10 days prior and during the trip. I also bought Shirudo AGR+E LOTION to use daily while there. and another huge help was to go indoor tanning evry other day for the 2 weeks before the trip. next year, i will start tanning a few months prior so my skin is prepared. i found this blog extremely informative. I have the classic scottish skin, which is pale and freckled and takes a lot of days of sun and careful exposure to eventually tan. In the past when I've tanned I've had an extremely mottled freckle and tan look. Since using Heliocare, my tan looks much more even, the tan itself deeper so that the freckles blend in better. The other thing I was hoping this would help with are my white spots - I read studies that this helped repigment white spots which are a form of age related sun damage related to vitiligo. The studies were for taking this 3 times a day spaced out, for 12 weeks, and getting 20 minute sun exposure three times a week or so. I have probably been taking for 2 months so far, and averaged maybe 1 or 2 20-minute sun exposures a week with the exception of last week in key west I got sun almost every day, and I can't say that my white spots have repignmented at all yet, but I'm going to keep taking it and hope for the best. I did have a small white scar on my leg from a dog bite, and that HAS repigmented by about 50%, so it is working in some areas. Will update later if there are more results to comment on.

I love Heliocare! I've been taking it every summer for a few years and have always had consistent results. I wear sunglasses and sunscreen year round, but in the summer I take Heliocare for added protection, and I think it really helps me avoid sunburns. For reference I have light skin (NC20) that burns before it tans, so I really try to stay out of the sun as much as possible. I have nothing to add that hasn't already been mentioned in other reviews, except to note that I received the non-US version. Because of the packaging, I thought I got a really old bottle, but after a little research I figured out that I have a new bottle of the European pills. The main ingredient is the same (240 mg P. Leucotomos) but the non-US version contains green tea and betacarotene, which I'm fine with. Important to note that the new US version is vegetarian and does not have any dyes, but the European capsules are made with gelatin and contain colorants. I've attached some photos of Euro bottles, pills, and packaging (orange), and the bottles compared to the new-US (small yellow) and old-US bottles (large yellow). I don't have any more of the new US pills, but they were clear capsules containing a grayish powder and I bought them at Walmart. I ordered the non-US version from Amazon, the seller is Subha Enterprise. I have no issues with the difference in packaging and ingredients, so I'm using these. However, if you are a vegetarian/vegan, or if you are sensitive to colorants you may want to be more selective.
