Works as designed
I'm new to biking. I drive a little car with a very large sunroof (no luggage rack available on the roof). My options were this suction cup mount or a hatchback rack... I went with this one. It works as designed. My routine: - clean sunroof with windex (get the pollen off the glass) - attach the front mount (takes about 1 minute to get the suction cups fully engaged) - remove tire from bike and put it in the back seat - heft bike to roof and pray I get the forks into the mount without missing and cracking my sunroof - tighten the quick release on the mount - put back suction under rear tire and engage suction cup - strap back tire - strap petals I put it over the passenger side and am able to see one of the plungers on the front mount while driving (by glancing up through closed sunroof) to be sure it is still engaged (no red line). I've only driven a couple miles with it on the roof. Nervous it is going to go flying off, but with more usage i'm getting more confident it will stick. I also pull it off while I'm riding and reattach when I'm back at my car. I don't want someone who knows what it is to pop them off my roof and walk away with them. I wish the quick release on the mount had a longer axle so that I could open it up a bit wider to make it easier to drop the bike onto it. If you loosen it too much, the nut comes off all together. For a one person rider and a short car, this is a good solution. If you needed to move two bikes, it obviously wouldn't work. If our car is tall, it would be hard to get the forks to align into the mount.

Does its job
Suction is good during short travel. I suggest for longer travel i would say you must check in now and then. Installation wise its better for sedan because for suv it would be a little harder due to height

Ok I know exactly what you’re thinking - and I was thinking the same thing
I had a nice 3-bike Saris strap rack for the back of the car. I noticed it was starting to scratch my car - not good. I’d been looking at this and other suction mounts for awhile. I had to get over the thought of my bike flying onto the freeway. I used it for the first time last week to go about an hour and half north of Atlanta. Went backroads as I didn’t want to brave the interstate. Setup and install was easy - probably 3 to 5 minutes. I chose this unit because of 3 suction cups for the front wheel (3 would never fail at once right?). The carry case, spare pumps and pump lube also make this - I think - the best complete package. In short I went through everything - rough country roads, crossing country town railroad tracks and more. In fact, one of the streets I had to travel even had those metal plates every few yards due to roadwork. I’m not going to lie - I looked up at the bike through my glass roof A TON OF TIMES lol but the bike was stable. The unit itself is like another reviewer stated - “It’s a beast” - well made with steel and quality components. The suction cups are super strong. This thing only comes off the car when you take it off! I’ll never go back to straps or rails. My brother is getting ready to order this one as well. I forgot to mention the ‘cool’ factor. Other riders who saw me pull up loved this thing. Now go order it lmao - cheers!

This thing is LEGIT!
Ladies and gentlemen... I drove from Miami to Key West... 4+ hours, at speeds in upwards of 75+ mph... with 2 bikes on the roof... and had 0 issues! Was I sketched out at times, yes of course. But the suction cups held up all the way there and back. If anyone has an issue with their bikes falling off, I would blame the person for poorly operating the suction cups. Buy these... NOW!

Unsafe
Followed directions carefully. Bike felt secure and sturdy. Going about 30 mph, thankfully on a quiet road, and bike flew off after about 10 minutes. If l had been on a busy road, someone could have been killed by my flying bike. Bike and car were damaged. Don't trust this bike carrier. It is not safe and should be illegal. It is scary to think that people are driving around with these on their cars. I feel stupid for thinking that it would work.

Commercial strength
I was searching for a portable bike rack and came upon the sucker type racks. After evaluating several of them, I decided to search for a company which specialized in commercial grade suction cups as these are the working components of suction type racks. I found the IMT rack and purchased it. This thing is built like a tank! Solid construction with heavy duty suction cups. It even came with an assortment of axle adapters to accommodate different types of fork configurations as well as a sturdy storage case. I have no reservations placing $5,000 worth of bike on this rack. Well done IMT.

I really wanted this to work…
Good: product was well packaged, the rubber vacuum cups are well made, the metal platform and the bicycle attachment point are solid. The hook and loop is very strong. The bikes felt very secure on the rack, the rack felt very secure on the car (mostly… more on that). I used this rack with 2 different bikes. The gravel bike was heavier than the road bike, but well below the stated max (about 17 lbs without the front wheel and no bottles, etc.). Both bikes use thru axle. The gravel bike made a lot of noise while driving… an uncomfortable amount of creaking from the front forks where they were contacting the rack mount. I drove only locally with this bike mounted. No faster than 45 mph, drove to work, then to ride after, then home. Maybe 30 minute drive, followed by a couple shorter drives. The road bike made no noise at all. This one was mounted for 4.5 hours at highway speeds, then in the mountains. Next day, 6.5 hours, highway speeds, down from the mountains. 2 days later, 6.5 hours at highway speeds, pretty much level interstate, no twisties. I could never get the vacuum seal to last longer than an hour on one cup, 2 hours on another. One of the 3 front cups worked perfect. The rear cup was hit or miss… sometimes it would hold for hours, other times it might be 90 minutes. I did all of the trouble shooting that was directed by the instructions and anything I could find online. I cleaned the roof of the car. I tried mounting on the sunroof instead of the metal. I cleaned all the vacuum cups. I lubricated the orings in the pumps. No change. The rack was not mounted over night, it was removed, caps in place, in storage bag. To be clear, the bikes never felt like they were loose or at risk. But I was having to stop every hour, pull off the road, pump the vacuum back to acceptable range, then drive another hour. This was… not great. I wanted to love it. It looks fantastic! The case and everything it comes with is great! But I do not have faith in the product because it will not hold a seal. For that reason, I am sending it back.

Great but one problem
It works great the only thing I don't like like others also mentioned about this is the front quick release axle should have been like 1/2 longer you have to unscrew the nut so far that sometimes it comes off when trying to put your bikes forks in the holder. Other than that it's perfect I could even put my bike on my VW bug and that's great!
