KYOKU Shogun knives are as pretty as they are powerful Expertly manufactured with Japanese VG10 and 67layered Damascus steel, our 8 chef knife is the essential musthave in any kitchen. Each knife is handhoned by traditional sharpening methods, resulting in blades so sharp they glide through food. It slices effortlessly and chops meat, fish, vegetables and more like a charm. The hammerbeaten wave pattern on the base of the tang showcases the stunning craftsmanship and its luxurious identity. Kyoku knife is also beloved for its bolster design, which is highly ergonomic and safe for holding with a pinch grip. Review: These knives are of great quality. They are not only highly attractive, but their balance and feel is high level. They are better than a lot of top shelf knives & competitive with almost anything. They are laser sharp and hold their edge for a very long time. All of this and a lifetime warranty. Review: Holy smokes, this knife is brutally sharp. Un-wrapping it while it still had a plastic sleeve on the blade I bumped my finger on the serrated edge and lost skin. I purchased this knife to slice the crusty sourdough bread I make. I own several other highly rated bread knives but they almost always have a tendency to tear up a loaf especially when trying to cut thin slices. This knife goes through the top crust the soft crumb and the hard bottom crust with almost no effort and absolutely no tearing even when cutting very thin slices. The blade does have two slightly bent teeth but it's a visual defect that doesn't seem to effect the performance of the blade, it has a nice weight and balance the handle is comfortable well shaped and large enough for my big hands. All in all I'm very pleased. Take heed of the edge careless handling will result in blood.

This is grat bread knife. Very nice to handle, the only thing is that it's not balanced, the handle is heavier. Comes with a very nice sleeve.

Gorgeous knife. Well balanced with a comfortable handle. Razor sharp. My only qualm is that the serrations are sharpened on one side only which allows straight cuts to be made only if you are cutting slices on the right side of the loaf/vegetable. So essentially a right handed knife. If held in the left hand and used to cut a slice off the left side of the loaf the blade tends to drift. Not a deal breaker though, you can still control it if you are careful. Also the knife comes with a thin plastic scabbard but it's open all along one side. If you arent careful you could deeply slash your fingers while pulling the blade free. I recommend tossing the scabbard immediately and keeping your new bread knife in a block. I would by this knife and brand again for sure though, super high quality.
