I bought this book without big expectations because no book can teach you the basics of programming and to develop apps in 24 hours (or in about a 100 pages or so).1. The writing and the editing are very poor. You can see a lot of typos (which do tend to happen, and are tolerable in a small quantity), but you can also see that the grammar isn't correct on many places throughout the book. Even if the authors first language isn't English, at least the book should be reviewed and edited before it's published and sold.2. The book deals with the history of Android and other trivia information, which is completely fine if that's the kind of book you're looking for, but I believe that the title and the description are misleading in telling someone they'll have a moderate knowledge of Android development after they're through the book.That being said, I've bought the book for just 99 cents to read on my Kindle and it isn't completely useless because you can read up on some of the history of Android and how it all came to be, why to choose a career in Android, etc.Bottom line is: The book has some nice information about the history of Android and careers in Android development, but don't buy this book to learn to program and develop Android apps. You will go through setting up your Java environment, the Android studio installation and even make a simple app, but even after all of that, you won't know how to develop your apps.

You can get this information online. Waste of paper and money. I sent mine back! Typos and all.

I have not finished yet but this book should be called "An Introduction to Android". One thing though is that the English and Grammer is extremely poor making it difficult to read. It is clear that English is not the author's primary language. I do however love the simplicity of the author's approach. High scores for that. You need an English speaking editor to work on the rest.

What a well written book! I love that it's written in such an easy to understand way yet actually goes into much detail. The images really helped me to pick up important concepts. This is the perfect book for both the beginner and the advanced. Definitely recommend this one.

This was just half a dozen internet pages smashed into a book. While it did contain some code to practice with, I feel they could've went into more detail by teaching more about how to write java code and app development.

Do not purchase this book. There is almost zero information on the actual process of programming. I read the book in 10 minutes and learned nothing not found on a blog for free. An editor or proofreader would have been a welcomed addition as well. Half the book is broken sentences that make no sense. Don't waste your money. Google code school, udemy, udacity or other sites like that to really learn anything.

Complete waste of time. The book only offers a dozen pages of actual app development, and the rest is just a brief summary of android history. Do not buy this book if you want to learn how to make apps.

I ordered the digital version for my kindle. I'm not completely sure if this is just the Kindle, or if this is the book but I found several typos, and text that overlaps pictures to the point I couldn't read it. Other than that, instructions were pretty clear, I learned at a fast pace, and it explained itself.

Perfect text helped me right about technical bits to do a final year university module's report [essay]Also great as a starting point for beginners to understand mobile computing concepts on the Android platform

The language was a bit funny but the content was just the right level and complete. And i thoroughly enjoyed it. The person definitely knows his stuff. I would love to see a part 2

If you want to procrastinate about being a so called Android Developer, then you should definitely go for this one.But if you are serious for learning Android don't even think for a second forpurchasing this book. The content is all crap. There is only information about Android (which you can find on wikipedia) & it's past & future. No information regarding for what the book is actually meant for. You can only learn how to print hello world.All the October good reviews are fake ones. Just don't waste your money over this book!

Indeed a very nice book to get started with Android. I could finish the book in few hours.I had Java background, and the book helped me to come to speed very quickly.But very poor naming conventions used by the author. Would recommend author to follow better naming conventions rather than names like i1, i2.Overall a worth read. Thanks
