Digitally remastered edition of the original 2 LP set on a single CD. The band's reputation was built on the live dates of this era, since their shows truly captured their raw energy in concert. Released in an era where double live albums were standard practice, this set only elevated the group's profile and standing in the rock world. Review: Sound is great! - I have the CD in it's original recording. It just sounded quiet and muffled and I did not play it as much as my other Wishbone Ash albums. I was worried that it would not be much improved, but I was wrong. I really like the original band members and this completes my collection of their work. Review: Excellent remaster far outshines the original - Normally I find most remastered CDs marginally better than the originals. The BGO remaster of Wishbone Ash's LIVE DATES is easily one of the best remastered CDs I have ever purchased. I transferred both the original 1992 MCA 2CD set and the single BGO CD (the bonus track PHOENIX live at Memphis is not included here) to a flash drive in order to make a quick A-B comparison. I needn't have bothered. The new remaster is remarkably crisper and more detailed than the original. Until hearing this I never realized how dull sounding the MCA pressing is. It's been so long since I played the 1973 2-LP set I can't recall how it sounded, but I'd bet there's little or no difference to the '92 CDs. BGO states they used the original analogue tapes for this remaster (they don't provide a date). The volume level has also not been increased which results in a loss of dynamic range, something I've noticed with other so-called "Remasters". Whether you're replacing your old CDs (or LPs), or buying this for the first time, you won't be disappointed. Wishbone Ash has never sounded better. Hopefully one day soon they'll remaster their self-titled debut album.

Classic Rock with Wishbone Ash
There are a few LIVE albums that are standouts in rock. Think Deep Purple Made in Japan, the Alman Brothers Live at Fillmore East, Rory Galagher Irish Tour '74, etc. This Wishbone Ash Live Dates album is right up there with the best of them. It starts off with The King Will Come, a personal favorit of mine, and ends with a 10+ minute tour-de-force of Phoenix that will blow the top of your head off. Also includes Rock and Roll Widow, Blowin Free and several others. Get it now. You won't regret it. Turn up the volume and be prepared for a rock show second to none. Abslutely stunning.

Wishbone Ash - Live Dates
70's Wishbone Ash a unique sound, that was well captured on Live Dates. Argus tracks are prominent opening the show, while Rock & Roll Widow & Ballad Of The Beacon are fuller in sound than the studio versions. Lady Whiskey is a jam out track with the signature twin leads of Ted Turner & Andy Powell at the forefront. Musicianship from the top drawer right across the album.

One of My All Time Favorites...
I was at the concert that this Album was recorded from; one of my most awesome memories, especially the fact that the crowd was quiet enough to hear the songs, therby making this one of the finer "live" recordings to ever have been recorded. Another thing about Wishbone Ash that I have admired in so few groups like the Moody Blues, BTO, Peter Framptom, Jethro Tull, Santana, Traffic, Fleetwood Mac, The Who (&The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith after they "got sober".)and a few others is their wonderful ability to sound in concert just like the albums I've come to love. To me, that is the greatest indicator of a great Band. Anyone, even me, can be made to sound great in a studio. It takes real talent to do it live. To me, that says it all. To think that a band like Wishbone Ash, who used to fill up stadiums, are down to playing in small clubs(and they still sound great) Ther is a lot of music from the 60's, and the 70's that the younger generation is missing out from today, back when star artists played their own instruments, sang the songs they wrote themselves, & did it live without the Background track that many of the so-called" artists are doing now. Such a shame, really.

Classic rock
Originally purchased this album on vinyl in the 80's when I was living in the UK. Decided to buy it on CD for the first time and wasn't disappointed. An absolute classic recorded by a fantastic band. So glad there are now two versions of the band to enjoy who both seem to get on and still love belting out great music.

It took me 40 years of my life to meet Wisbone Ash, when 4 years ago I've bought a double CD from a local market containing old Hendrix stuff in one CD and the "Mother of pearl" live CD in the other. It was very well spent one quid! But it took me four more years to put my hands to a vinyl copy of this album, got it from a charity shop for five quid. The vinyl was a bit old and scratched, but sounded good enough. The Ash live are really great and this album probably captures some of their best performances: just plain rock and no fancy special effects, apart from the twin guitars. Their sound is surprisingly rich considering they have just 2 guitars doing the melodic parts. After listening to this album a few times i was very disappointed because I've sadly found out that I've lived 44 years without having a chance to listen to a masterpiece like "Phoenix". What a wasted life! Of course "Phoenix" is the top of the album for me, but "The king will come", "Warrior", "Lady Whiskey" to mention my favourites are also great songs. This is a great album for anybody, especially those who want to have an idea of the music played by this band. After a few months I've decided to buy a CD copy as well so I can listen to it in the car or in the iPod. I've recently seen them live twice and they are one of the best bands to see live: don't expect anything fancy from them but great music for sure!
