Lovely looking book
Great book with some lovely drawings inside and will give me great ideas and help to do some carvings myself

Brilliant Buy
My husband LOVES this book by Lora Irish. He's been glued to it and I haven't really managed to get much out of him apart from "I should have bought this a long time ago". He's not a beginner, but certainly not advanced and cannot wait to get started. He has also decided to buy a Scroll Saw (not essential), but this book has helped his to realise that such a tool can only help him in his hobby. I had a quick "shiftie" through the book and I think the book would be great for other crafters, too, with the patterns etc. RECOMMENDED by both of us for all crafters especially Woodcarvers, Pyrographers, Cardmakers

Good book well illustrated

The designs are good but nothing special
I think this author has a real dominance in this area, I come across a lot of her designs - perhaps not enough folk are publishing designs. The designs are good but nothing special, just nice line drawings - each one having a shaded version next to it to give an idea of the end result. I'm pleased with this purchase.

Interesting
There are some good tips in this book as well as templates but I found them more for intermediate or professional carvers/painters rather than for beginners.

Outlines but nothing more
I had expected a book with more instructions. This book contains a lot of illustrations for burning wood pieces which are then shown in relief. However, there is little instruction on how to tackle the pieces shown if you are a beginner woodcarver which I am - so I was disappointed with this purchase.

As a novice I think it is great, good instructions and advice, plenty of patterns, will be using it for years to come.
