Works perfectly as a surfectant when refilling lava lamps. It easily dissolves in warm water and makes my lamps flow beautifully. Definitely not it's intended use case but worked perfectly for my application, and was a lot cheaper than other options.

I use a powder cleaner with Oxy but it was still not cleaning as it should. One scoop with the others and now I'm happy. You need to be careful with this powder as it will irritate your sinuses.

I found this idea online, I believe from Good Housekeeping. Sodium Lauryl sulfate is nontoxic (but be careful as it’s a very fine powder, or you will breathe it in), And a little goes a LONG way. I believe it’s a surfactant, and it does kill fruit flies, but you must spray it on them. Some of these suckers live in your drain pipes, so water itself doesn’t work. Mix this powder with water (use in a spray bottle), and it suffocates them. Still looking for something that will kill them residually. (Lemongrass oil does not repel them). Until then, sticky strips and this will do the trick.
