Can you use this as an extension for the existing cable?

this is a genuine Webasto extension harness for the 4 pin controller harness

I have the airtop 2000 stc - can i connect this cable to rheostat wire to install the multi control hd?

The short answer is 'no'. I'll explain The Air Top 2000 STC is supplied into the Marketplace with potentially 3 different main wiring harnesses. If your heater was supplied with a main wiring harness with only 1 x 4 pin plug, to which you connected the standard rotary controller as supplied with the heater, then it is NOT possible to fit a Multicontrol controller. The Multicontrol uses a 2nd 4 pin plug that is labelled differently eg. 'Telestart, Thermocall. Diagnostic' So if your main wiring harness has TWO 4 pin plugs ( the connector plugs look identical but have different coloured cables attached) it may be possible for you to use this extension cable to lengthen the 2nd plug connection to allow it to reach your chosen location for the new controller. I believe initially you must check your wiring harness before attempting to upgrade to Multicontrol Thank you for your enquiry David
