How does this compare to the discontinued Ulcetrol?

I liked Now’s Ulcetrol better, but this is the next, best thing. It’s the only alternative, but not the same for me.

Can we open the capsule and put the pouder in water or food?

Yes. It has a slight celery taste, that most likely comes from the slippery elm. Nature's Way slippery elm has a slight celery taste as well.

Can the pill be split in half and poured into juice or water?

It's a capsule, and it would be hard to get an even dose if you open it. It's a very effective product if you take the recommended dose. I switched to every other day once my GI symptoms subsided.
