Has anyone actually seen any dead insects that came in contact with this product?

People, go to the Nisus website for an explanation of how DOT works to prevent and kill wood boring insects. What they mean when they say they will die from a direct spray is they eventually die. This is not an instant kill.

Is this the same ingredients as Boracare?

Same. Boracare is much thicker liquid and need to be diluted

I am using this on a hollow cedar stump and need to put it in a plastic bag to contain the liquid. Will this melt plastic?

It is water and borate salt. So the plastic should be fine

Is it safe to use on natural wood in vegetable garden beds?

I wouldn't recommend using this on wood near a vegetable garden because no matter how dry it may seem after applying chemicals will still wash out when it rains. While this may not affect your vegetable plants themselves the chemicals will be in the soil which will in turn put them into your vegetables that you eat. And this is not a chemical that you want touching your skin let alone a chemical that you want to ingest
