Works for mechanics out on the dock
I bought the 500lb for $20 magnet, so that if i drop a tool in the water while on a call to work on someones boat at there dock, i can retrieve the tool after a little ‘magnet fishing’ straight down. To other mechanics, id say this size will be enough to retrieve most of your tools once the magnet touches a rather flat surface of the tool you dropped. I put a tool on the magnet and kept flailing/bouncing the magnet around in the air by its string and the tool didnt come close to flinging off. Id say if your tool ur trying to fish up is larger than a wheel drum, you should go up a size, but if its anything lighter than that u are good to go with the 500lb. Also the rope is not that bad, you can always double it cause there is a lot of length to it, and the clip is not bad either, just weld it to make it permanently closed. For a mechanic fishing there tools back out the water, this will work

Magent is strong!
UPDATE: The magnet is indeed super strong. The seller contacted me and offered a full refund for my initially dissatisfied review. They then sent a follow-up reply to my review attempt to stick it to a refrigerator indicating the thin metal on the refrigerator was the culprit. I stuck the magnet to an iron I-beam in my house and was able to do pull-ups on it, and I'm over 200lbs. So the magnet is strong if put on a substantial piece of metal. This makes total sense and I guess I learned something new today! Seller response to original review: We are very sorry for the unpleasant experience you had while using the product. We have found that you stated that the product cannot lift the refrigerator because the surface of the refrigerator is only covered with a thin layer of iron sheet, so the actual lifting weight that can be achieved is slightly lower. The magnetic force is related to the thickness and angle of the iron sheet. You can try using a 30mm thick iron sheet to test the magnetic force. We would like to help you solve any problems, If you need any help, please feel free to contact us at any time. Thank you! Original review: This is nowhere near a 400lb pulling force. Stuck it to the refrigerator and it wasn’t even strong enough to pull the door open without coming off. Useless.

Good starter magnet
This is a good starter kit for sure. I'll go over some pros and cons now that I've had it for a few months. Pros *Comes with a decent nylon carrying bag that appears to be pretty rugged. *Gloves are grippy, even when wet. *Carabiner is the screw type that is of decent quality. *The 20m of paracord is a plus, not too many places where you are going to need more than 20m for this size. *Magnet is strong for its size and picks up most metals in the water with no issues. Cons *The magnet is bottom facing. This doesn't help pick up materials when it is being drug across the bottom of a lake/creek. *The magnet is kind of small and will not be able to grab larger objects well. *The gloves only come in a med/small size, but don't fit well as the fingers are too short. Overall, this magnet is a great starter and has a good build quality. The bag is a added plus.

Decent Magnet with Slightly Lower Pulling Force
I purchased the MUTUACTOR Fishing Magnets with high hopes of a 400 lbs pulling force, but my experience has been slightly different than expected. Here's my honest 3-star review: Positives: 1. Build Quality: The construction of this magnet appears to be solid, and it feels durable in hand. It seems capable of handling various underwater objects during fishing and magnetic recovery. 2. Rope Length: The included 20m (64-foot) durable rope is a generous length, allowing for versatile usage and better reach in different situations. Negatives: 1. Pulling Force Discrepancy: My biggest disappointment lies in the pulling force. While the product is advertised as having a 400 lbs pulling force, I found that it falls slightly short of that mark. It's still strong but not as powerful as expected, which was a bit misleading. 2. Limited to Smaller Finds: Due to the lower-than-expected pulling force, I found that this magnet is more suitable for retrieving smaller objects from bodies of water. For larger items or objects stuck firmly in the mud, it may struggle to perform effectively. 3. Price Consideration: Given the discrepancy in pulling force, I felt that the price point may be a bit on the higher side for what this magnet delivers. In conclusion, the MUTUACTOR Fishing Magnets have some positive aspects, such as build quality and the included rope length. However, the major drawback is the discrepancy in pulling force compared to the advertised 400 lbs. If you're looking for a magnet with precisely that level of pulling force, you might want to explore other options. This product is better suited for lighter tasks and smaller finds. Overall, it's a decent magnet, but the lower pulling force was a significant disappointment for me, warranting a 3-star rating.

It is so strong, I lost it in the river! *read my story
It was the first time using the magnet, so I head down to the river at my home town. I gave it some slack, swing it a few times and launch it! It got a hold off a steel beam that was sunk years ago by a building remodeling company in the middle of the river. I managed to get the bungee string right in the middle of the bridge to see if I could get it off. I pulled and pulled, but I could not get it to budge. It was stuck to it like weld to a fresh joint at welding school. All I could do is to let it go and hope I could get a boat and diving gear to get it back, because that magnet was not going to let go. I will be ordering another couple magnets in case I can't get the first one out.

Small, but powerful
It's only little, but it's very powerful! I got it stuck on a metal strip of the bridge handrail & it took 2 of us to get it off. Comes with a decent length rope for tossing off bridges etc, & a handy little storage pouch to keep it all together. The whole thing seems to be decent quality, though this common design for magnet fishing can be quite limiting as you basically need the disc to come into contact with anything it might catch (so dragging it backwards after a toss isn't ideal). The larger ones with multi-side designs would be more effective, though overall this is a fun little product.

Strong magnet
I bought two different magnets, this one and a $10 cheaper double sided magnet from another store. This one lifts a 10 kg dumbell without any problem where as the cheaper one doesn’t even come close. Looks to be good quality but won’t know for sure until I’ve used it a few times.
