Updated review to 5 stars / outstanding customer service
I am updating my prior review to 5 stars. First, incredible and unusually great customer service !! The company reached out to me because they read my review and followed up . I was surprised ! They noted that I had an older version and possibly a defective device , as mine got too hot and had no good temp controls or timer. They sent me a replacement . This one has 5 temp levels settings, which correspond to actual temperatures noted in the directions, so you can choose the heat levels based on the actual temperature you need - PLUS a built in timer for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 minutes . This mask has a built in temp sensor that PREVENTS overheating . It is still the same size and softness and has a wide flat elastic band that easily adjusts for size and the amount of pressure you want against your eyes . It comes with its own charging block , one side takes the device cable and the other side is the end that plugs into the wall outlet . Be sure to use this block as it does not get warm/ hot like other blocks can . I use the mask for dry eye relief and it is truly helping . Itโs the best mask Iโve ever used for this . I use it EVERY day and then use the eye wipes and preservative free drops my eye doctor recommends . I have significantly better relief and eye comfort using the mask . I feel like the daily use of this mask is making my eyes better . I use it during the day and the auto shut off timer prevents overheating the skin around and over your eyes . Do not sleep in it as it has a cord that stays attached . I use a separate sleep mask at night to help keep drafts off my eyes . I use this mask 1-2 times daily but you can use it more if needed because it is adjustable for temp and time and has safety features to keep it from getting too hot . I highly recommend this current product version from this company , it is better, safer and works for the purpose โ and their customer service is above and beyond- most impressive and caring . OLD review : I have had this for about a year and replaced it . There are no temp settings ,itโs only low, medium and high, not the degrees options shown . There are only 20/40/60 minute time options , again, not as shown . The longer it is on the hotter it gets even if set on low . Medium gets pretty hot . Hot gets way too hot for thin eyelid skin . The ophthalmologistโs recommended 108 degrees for 15 minutes as shown in the description are not even available / possible with this product . It is a good size to focus warmth on the eye area without also heating facial skin . The fabric is soft . There is zero aroma . This was expensive for what it actually is , so is not a good value for the money . If you need it for dry eyes this is not therapeutic . Itโs more suitable for โ relaxing โ but it still can get too hot so use caution, you must set your own timer to use it less than the big time increments it has. Overall if this is for your eye health - shop around and get one with an adjustable temp and timer .

Immediate relief for my blepharitis
I was recently diagnosed with blepharitis due to some pretty severe eye issues. I was doing warm compresses and tried a variety of tools for that but none really made much, if any difference. Until I got this mask. A single use brought me relief and drastically reduced the pain I have been experiencing for weeks! I am incredibly excited about this mask as it has already shown to be effective. It is also wonderfully comfortable. The flax really helped it contour to the shape of my eye sockets without putting pressure on my eyes. It is a very flexible mask. The adjustable strap keeps it in place and it fits beautifully. The warmth/temperature feels very consistent. It also comes with an eye mask cover which, for me, was very important as I need to keep the mask clean as I will be using it multiple times a day for the next several weeks (per my ophthalmologist). This is an exceptional eye mask and an incredible value for something that truly works and has already improved my quality of life a great deal. It is also nice to get those 10 minute spots of quiet and calm while I use the mask throughout the day. I listen to audio books as I use it, but I can imagine people comfortably dozing off if they choose to use it in the peace and quiet. The autoshuttoff is such a terrific feature!

Great product, great customer service!
UPDATE (4/22/26): Great customer service! If you have any issues with your mask after the return window closes, donโt hesitate to reach out to this company directly. Shortly after posting my initial negative review (below), a customer service rep got in touch with me via email and offered to send me a replacement mask, free of charge. Iโve been using the new mask every night for the last two weeks, and so far itโs been working great. No issues with the buttons nor the display. This mask has helped my dry eye issues so, so much - I have significantly less irritation and redness. Give this mask a chance - and if your mask does happen to malfunction, this company will make things right (the warranty info in the box isnโt a gimmick- they are willing to send a replacement)! โโโโโโโโโ- [Original review] It stopped working 9 days past the return window, of course! So frustrating for a new product to malfunction so quickly. Iโve been using the cord that came with the product AND Iโve plugged it into a surge protector. When not in use, I kept it tucked away safely in the box it came in. Tonight I press the power button and the control display flickers on briefly then goes right back off again, and it doesnโt heat up. I tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in, and it did almost the same thing, but the screen dimmed dramatically and the little light that was there randomly flickered throughout the different sections of the screen, making it unreadable. It got a little bit warm, but it doesnโt seem safe to use now that the screen is malfunctioning. It was great when it did work. ๐

An affordable electric eye mask to treat dry eyes
I am very glad I chose aroma season heated eye mask instead of the much more expensive alternatives. It is also a better alternative than my beaded microwaveable eye mask which stays warm enough for less than 10 minutes. I have dry eyes pre and 6 months post cataract surgery and heat for 15 minutes does help alot. This mask is small and light and fits my face well. It has 5 heat settings and using my instant read thermometer the 3 bar setting is the right temp for me, 118F. It is blue on one side and grey on the other, so no confusion as to which side to apply to eyes. A grey clip-on washable cotton cover is provided to keep mask clean. A well thought out product. It has a warranty too which I hope I will never need. It does look like a quality product. Highly recommended.

Unsanitary without washable cover
I like the eye mask and it works as intended. However, I noticed it says it comes with a washable cover. Mine did not and feels unsanitary to use since I'm not able to clean it. I'm starting to be reluctant to use it since I'm not able to clean it and there's visible discoloration, presumably due to oils released from the meibomian glands.

Better than a microwaved mask
Short version: -You choose a temp of Low/Medium/High, not a specific temp degree -Unscented -Timer only has 20/40/60 min options, and heating up is part of that time -Does not beep or make any noise -Cannot sleep with it -No battery, must be plugged in to heat -USB cable is about 76.5โ long, comes with outlet converter -Strap is a simple slider buckle on elastic -Washable cover is a plus but it slides around Overall Iโm happy with the product and would recommend it! Long version: Iโm prone to infections in general throughout my body, so styes are common for me. Sometimes the styes even become chalazions and one in the past was persistent enough it had to be surgically removed. So my doctor recommended I start taking omega-3 fish oil* and using a hot compress as a daily habit even when there are no active eye infections to help with preventing future ones, in addition to using it to treat any active infections. I used to use a washcloth run under hot water multiple times a day, but it interrupted my life a lot. So my doc said to try a heated eye mask (so it doesnโt cool as quickly as a wash cloth) for 10+ minutes three times a day instead, and to massage the area around any active infections with clean hands afterwards. First I made a rice eye mask to heat in the microwave. It was easier/less messy and retained heat longer than a wet washcloth so it definitely was an improvement. But after a few months of that I noticed that I wasnโt doing it three times a day because it was a bother to get up to go microwave it, and annoying to have to lie down for it so it wouldnโt fall off my eyes. I gradually did it less often. I figured Iโd be more likely to stick to the habit if I kept an electric mask that I didnโt have to get up to prepare for use by my usual spot/recliner. Bonus, with a strap itโd stay on my face and I could sit up/recline instead of having to lie down on the bed or couch. After reading many reviews for several comparable products, I decided to purchase this Aroma Season heated eye mask. So far I am pleased with it. It has temperature settings you can easily switch between of low, medium, and high. It doesnโt say anywhere on the box or user manual what the degrees of those setting are, unfortunately, but that may be intentional on their part, as the manual states: โHow warm it feels depends on the environment temperature. The environment temperature difference could be more than 50ยฐF between winter and summer. It's suggested to use high mode on cold days and low mode on hot days. Stop heating when feeling too hot. Be care of moderate temperature burn.โ I found medium to be the most comfortable setting for me right now. My doctor recommended always testing heated masks (no matter the type) against the inner wrist before applying to your eyes to avoid accidentally using too high of a temperature. Thankfully there is no smell, despite the brand being โAroma.โ Iโm pretty sensitive to scents, but heated or heated I smell nothing from this. Iโm happy about that! It has timer settings for 20, 40, and 60 minutes, but the timer starts the moment you turn it to that setting, even though it takes several minutes to reach full temperature. So though at first I was disappointed I couldnโt set it for whatever time I wanted, which in my case was 10 minutes, it worked out because the 20 min setting takes about 5-7 minutes to reach full temperature anyway. That way I get 10+ min at full temperature before it shuts itself off. You can turn it off manually if you press and hold the temperature control button, if you want to stop it before the timer ends. But there is no โonโ button for the heat to stay on indefinitely or to preheat before starting the timer. There is only the button for the three temperature settings and the button for the three timer settings, and you must pick a timer setting for it to begin heating. The screen (dark screen/lit up white numbers) on the controller counts down from the selected time, after which it automatically turns off. Heating up is part of that timer settingโs active time. There is no noise: no beeping of the buttons, no alarm or notification that the timer is over, no sound of the heating element kicking on/off, etc. This is a plus in my book, but may be a hindrance for those who are blind and canโt see the settings on screen, or for those who want an audible notification that the time is up. It just stops heating, so you wonโt notice itโs over until you think, โWait, is this not as warm as it was a minute ago?โ and check the controller. Some of the reviews here say they like that it quietly turns off automatically because then they can wear it to bed and fall asleep, but the box and manual say multiple times NOT to ever wear this while sleeping or unconscious. I presume itโs dangerous to do so both because the cable could be a choking hazard and because itโs possible to get a burn even from low temperatures if worn long enough, so the user needs to be conscious to be aware if itโs getting uncomfortably hot on their skin. There is no way to use it without the cord because there is no battery. It must be plugged in to heat. You cannot microwave or otherwise manually heat the eye mask because the cable is built into it. The cable end is a USB but it comes with a USB power adapter so that you can plug it into an outlet. The cable from mask to the end of the USB plug is about 76.5 inches long. From mask to the end of the female jack is about 6 inches and from the male jack to the controller is about 11 inches (in other words, from mask to the top of the controller is about 17 inches). The strap to keep the mask on is a simple plastic slider buckle on an elastic strip. Should fit all head sizes as it has a wide adjustable range. My head curves in the back right where Iโd want the strap to be so it either slides up and makes the mask not stay on my eyes just right or it slides down and presses on the tops of my ears. Not ideal, but after getting used to it Iโve learned how to put it on my head so that Iโm comfortable. Others who have a different shaped head likely wonโt have this issue. Though the mask itself is blue on the outside and gray on the inside, the mask cover is all gray so you donโt see the blue. It came with a washable cover, which I appreciate as the mask itself is not washable. I wish it came with two covers so one could be in use while the other is in the laundry, but oh well. Itโs not a fitted cover, so it would be easy to copy it and make another. Itโs just a rectangle with a snap in the middle, to wrap around the eye mask and hold it in place. But because it isnโt fitted (sewn to fit the shape of the mask) it kind of slides around while in use, which is annoying only because the rectangle is three strips of fabric instead of one, and only the middle section is soft. So if it slides a bit you may have some slick material instead of just soft jersey material partially touching your face. So for this simple cover design it would have been better if the whole rectangle was the same soft fabric, but itโs not that big of a deal. Maybe Iโd take a half star off my review because of the cover if I could, but itโs not worth knocking a whole star off for. Iโm just glad thereโs a removable cover at all. Overall Iโm pleased with the product. Despite some changes needed to reach perfection, this certainly is an improvement over a microwaved rice eye mask. *The supplement I use is Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 1280mg omega-3 fish oil, which I buy here on Amazon. The brand my doctor recommended was out of my budget, but when I chose this instead they were still pleased because it has EPA and DHA in it (cheap brands donโt and so theyโre not effective). Please consult your doctor before taking fish oil yourself, but if you have frequent eye infections like I do itโs worth talking to them about possibly adding it to your regimen. And if you already take an omega-3 supplement, have your optometrist check the label on yours to see if itโs of good enough quality to be effective or if youโre wasting your money on something that doesnโt actually help. It can be hard to stomach paying more for a better brand but it makes a difference!

Unsafe
My current review: The first mask stopped working after 7 months. I figured I could live with that, so I ordered another one. The new mask had none of the aromatherapy, smelled like nothing, but that was still not a deal breaker, just a disappointment, because I really enjoyed the smell of the first one. The actual dealbreaker came when 6 weeks after I received this 2nd mask, a thin piece of metal penetrated the mask's cloth covering and poked me in the face while I was using it! That could have been my eye. I tried to find a way to contact the company, but there is no contact info on Amazon, and what little info I can find is written in Chinese. Why would it matter anyway, though? An unsafe mask is an unsafe mask. They could offer me a refund, and they certainly should, but I couldn't provide a better review than this, because safety is a bottom line issue. This is my original, 4 star review. I ordered one of these masks to use treating my dry eyes. I had been using a wet washcloth, but my daughter ordered one of these for herself for the same reason, and she loves it. She warned me of a couple things, and now I am warning you. First, the mask must be plugged into a power source--we both use a portable charger--the whole time you're using it. This is both inconvenient and a little uncomfortable. Second, it takes a couple minutes to get hot, so be patient--and be sure you are using the right side! This is not hard when you remember that the blue side goes on the outside, so you are spritzing water on the dark side, and that's the side that will heat up and go on your eyes. The strap is unusually uncomfortable, very sturdy and thick, but it's located in such a way that it can't really go over the tops of your ears, and it won't stay put if you put it over the outsides of your ears. This is just frustrating. I position myself very carefully, and then make it a point to lie on my back, not moving a muscle, till it's done. And I don't know if this feature is a glitch that is true only of my mask, or if it's on everyone's, but in order to turn it on, I have to press the readout button on the portable charger before hitting the power button on my mask's control panel. I can click the power button all night long and it won't turn on, until I click the portable charger. Then it's fine. Finally, the "cover" that goes over it is a total joke, held shut by one snap in the very middle, and it slides all over the place. I gave up on the cover and threw it in the trash. So yes, definitely quirky, plenty of design issues--but it's nevertheless so much pleasanter than having to keep getting up to replace the washcloth every time it gets cold. I hope these people, or someone, can come up with a better model for a reasonable price, but until then, I think I'll go with this one, assuming it holds up for a few months. If it dies any time soon, I'll be back to remove a star or two and tell you about it.

Convenient to use and effective
A little over two years ago, my optometrist suggested warm compresses to treat my dry eyes and blocked tear ducts. I tried it for a while and although I found it effective, it was inefficient and time consuming. Looking for an alternative, I came across the Aroma Season heated eye mask and found it to be both effective and efficient. Recently I had what seemed to me to be a minor issue with the eye mask, and contacted Product Support, who, to my surprise, responded by sending me the latest, improved, model of the eye mask. It looked the same and seemed to function the same. I was pleased with the original and equally pleased with the replacement. I was curious about what had changed, so I asked. Apparently, it has new heating elements and a control probe that monitors and adjusts the heat level in real time to prevent overheating or discomfort. I had noticed that after some time the heat level had dropped off, which it turns out is the effect of the control probe. I was pleased with my original purchase and am beyond pleased with Aroma Seasonโs product support and their new product. I highly recommend it.
