Best on the Market
This product works exactly like I need it to. When I need to use my phone hands-free, I just stick it to the bracket. Other brackets I have owned, it takes 2 hands to clip it in and out. The bracket has a magnet that is strong enough to hold my Samsung Galaxy 4 protected by an Otter Box Defender case. I put the metal plate that comes with the bracket (comes with 3 metal plates) inside the rubber case and it holds my phone just fine. It probably won't hold an iPad and maybe not an iPad mini. I have not experienced any interference to my GPS with the magnetic bracket which I have seen comments about. I also bought one for my wife and my brother and they love it as much as I do. The only issue that could cause a concern is that it mounts to the CD player where you would insert a CD. Do not tighten the bracket too tightly. It could crack the plastic. Also, don't leave it attached for extended periods of time or if your car is going to be outside in the heat. It could cause the plastic on the CD player to warp or crack. You can play a CD while the bracket is mounted but you can't eject or insert a CD without removing the bracket first. It may cost a little more than others but this thing is well constructed and looks like it will last a long time. I highly recommend it.

Seems to work in my Lexus RX 450
I have been trying to find a good center console mount for my 2013 Lexus RX 450h. If you're an owner of this vehicle, you know that the CD slot is recessed which makes it difficult to find a good CD slot mount that actually fits this vehicle. While I'm not completely sure if this thing is latched onto the CD slot or the plastic frame leading up to the recessed CD slot, it seems to fit! It definitely took some time and trial/error for me to get this thing working (I've had it for maybe a week), but it seems that after repeatedly tightening the thing and pushing it toward the CD slot, and tightening it again after it gets loose from driving, the thing is now pretty sturdy! I still need to see how this works long term but for now I love the convenient location of the mount and the magnet makes it really easy to slap the phone there when I'm driving and remove it when I'm done. I usually use my phone in an upright position (iPhone 5, yes I know it's old) and once tried to move it to landscape on this mount and it started slipping off. The phone should weigh the same no matter how it's oriented so maybe I just need to balance it a bit better or adjust the magnet location on the phone, but this is something to keep in mind in case you definitely want the phone to work well sideways.

I am very pleased upon initial install and use of this product (Snap+)
I am very pleased upon initial install and use of this product (Snap+). I got the heavy duty version so I can also use it with my tablet and it does not disappoint. It comes with 4 magnets installed and has room for 2 more, but they aren't necessary. It would take a car accident to dislodge my Nexus 5, and the hold is even strong on my brother-in-law's Note 3 with a thick case. It was easy to install in my 2011 Ford Mustang and fits snug. Even on the rough roads i experienced no movement from the phone, or the mount itself. My only issue is that the magnet is strong enough to engage the magnetic sleep function built into almost all of today's phones/tablets. I was unable to use my phone while it was connected to the stand as it triggered the magnetic slide lock and would keep my phone in sleep mode. I was able to download an app that prevented this but it's noteworthy enough to remove a star. Other than that the product exceeded expectations. It is of very high quality and extremely durable. Mountek should write their own app to disable the magnetic sleep function in Android and IOS phones as it prevents use of the phone while using this mount. Highly recommended if you can find an app like i did.

Excellent upgrade, really paid attention and addressed design flaws with this one.
I upgraded to this from the standard snap 2 and it's miles better. The improvements I notice are 1. Less parts. The Snap 2 was two distinct pieces for the pressure mechanism, while this one is a solid piece with cut-outs to allow the parts to separate 2. Metal plate where screw meets the surface and metal reinforced plastic ensures it won't weaken over time or bend. I live in florida and park my car outside most of the day so my snap 2 is pretty much bent and warped from the pressure/heat combo. The old one even fell out due to the temperature changes. 3. Better magnet and grip cover. The cover is part of what makes it better, more friction and surface area so less phone sliding down because of bumps if you ever had that issue. 4. Super stable. Once screwed in I noticed the phone was moving with the body of the car. The last model wobbled around from regular road driving and was terrible with bumps. I noticed the phone stayed solid like it was attached to the car. Excellent product, while the snap 2 wasn't perfect it held me over for this version, can't see much they can do to improve it other than adding some sort of stabilization of the phone and the device. Jury is still out on how it handles long bouts with the sun.

Avoid magnetic version if phone has curved edges, a thick case or you care about seeing your console
I think this is an excellent product, but there are several caveats that I was afraid of before purchasing the product. For starters, I purchased the magnetic CD mount version, not the mechanical mount (grip). That was my biggest mistake. Given the specifications of my phone, I should have purchased the grip style. Here are my reasons for purchase: 1. Ease of mount/dismount. I have a tight morning schedule so I do not have time to be playing around with a mechanical mount. 2. Decrease automotive theft risk. It's nice not to have something so blatantly associated with a smartphone (like a full mechanical mount). 3. The mount is low impact, and does not take significant real estate on your dash, EXCEPT when actually mounted with your phone. Here are the problems I experienced, which I will explain in greater detail below: 1. Magnetic strip mount does not come in full contact with phones that have curved edges 2. Magnetic strip mount cannot effectively hold the phone if mounted behind a thick case (Otterbox Defender) 3. CD mount, while convenient, effectively blocks the entire console and makes interaction with any radio functions, except for your phone, difficult 4. Sloppy and disrespectful quality control by not providing full amount of magnets in mount. This is such a cheap and silly way to scam a customer. The big issue with this product was the magnetic mount strip. I have an HTC One M8, and the edges of my phone are curved. Therefore, the magnetic mount was not fully in contact with the back of my phone, and as a result, the edges of the magnetic strip were exposed. Eventually, dirt and air became trapped in these exposed spots, and the magnetic strap started to give way as the adhesive wore off. This happened probably two weeks after I initially purchased the mount. Also, they say the adhesive is non-permanent, but if you remove it, it will absolutely stain your case permanently and make it extraordinarily sticky for at least a couple of weeks. This knocked a star off my rating, since this case promises universal versatility among smartphones, but fails to account for curved phones which will not accommodate a rigid and flat magnetic mount strip. A failure and slap in the face to customers with this product is the shortcut of not fully providing all magnets in the mount. My mount came with only four out of six magnets. This definitely attributed towards the slipping of the phone, and this is quite frankly a very sloppy/disrespectful quality failure. Mounting the magnetic strip inside my case provided ineffective. The phone would fall off regularly, probably because my case is so bulky (Otterbox Defender series). The lack of magnets may have very much contributed to this issue as well. This knocked a star off my rating, easily. This mount also effectively blocks all buttons on your console, making it very difficult to turn on the radio, change the volume or adjust certain controls. If you were to simply plug in your phone and drive without radio interaction, this mount is perfect. On the other hand, if you want to change volume or power off the radio for whatever reason, it would be definitely awkward. One cannot fault the company for this aspect, however, so I knock off no stars here. I anticipated this problem, but I did not comprehend the extent of how cumbersome it would make things. I do not use the mount anymore because it's ineffective, to be frank. Should have ordered the grip version instead.

Finally, a phone mount that works!
I have owned a few different car phone mounts and I have never had one that was this secure all around. The idea is great and the execution is excellent. It never feels like my phone might pop off or like the whole mount might fall, as was the case with suction mounts. The only downside is that the metal plate that goes on the phone may interfere with inductive charging if your phone has this. I found that I could avoid this by figuring out exactly where the induction device is on the phone, which was pretty much dead center, the placing the plate right at the base of the phone so as to avoid it. The plate is thin enough that it doesn't add much size to the phone or cause it to sit up so high that an induction charger won't work anymore. And even with the plate so far down it still feels very secure when connected to the mount. I love this mount and I can't wait until they put out the tape deck mount so I can get one for my wife's car, too.

AVOID!!!!
AVOID!!!! Don’t waste your money!!! Will not hold a 6.8 ounce Motorola Droid Turbo. I stuck the metal mounting portion on the phone and then put clean thin plastic case back on and the second bump I hit the phone fell off. When I got home I tried to move the metal mounting piece to the outside of the case but it bent and then broke. The web site states easy to move from one device to another because of the 3m backing, don’t believe it. Don’t waste $25.00 and don’t even think about holding a tablet! It may hold a 1998 flip phone but I don’t think so.

Snap + Great in my 2011 MINI - Grip, not so much...
I had originally bought one of the snap+ for my Iphone 6+ and the one Grip for my daughter's 6. I gave away the Grip after two days and ordered her the Snap+. With the Grip It was awkward to get the phone in and out of and the tension mount did not seem to be able to handle the weight of her phone. My Snap+ mount, on the other hand, handled the weight, holds my phone like a champ, and is secure within the CD slot. I have a 2011 MINI - even with the slight curve of the slot there is no problem and it is a minimalist design that is extremely effective. Now that CD's have gone the way of the white whale, it is nice on a car without built in Bluetooth or Navigation to have a great way to attach a phone without having a suction cup mount on the windshield and taking back the space the CD player occupies. Update 4/7/17 - still going strong... I still love this mount - it is the best I have ever used. I have rarely knocked it off while traveling and the strength of the magnet has not wavered.
