Since 2007, painter Matt Adrian's work has focused on one subject: birds. From the delightfully cute to the decidedly sinister, his minimalist avian portraits cast a fresh light on these ubiquitous creatures. Adrian's sharp wit and love for the absurd have elevated the titles of his paintings into a kind of bizarro poetry, taking on man's impact on nature, the tendency towards anthropomorphism, technology and modern human life. Few have dared to stare into the eye of a grackle and ride that icy, crazy blackness out the other side. Matt Adrian has done it. This lovingly assembled book presents the second collection of Adrian's best work.

Beautiful book, great pictures
Beautiful book, great pictures. I have been around birds all my life - this guy has them down cold. The captions on the pictures are hysterical. If you like birds, this guy is for you. It seems he understands the personality of all those birds because the captions really make sense for the bird it represents! Very funny. Great gift for birders.

Love the pictures and the clever 'titles'.
Matt Adrian's paintings are beautiful and quirky at the same time. I never knew bird pictures could be so entertaining. His 'titles' are short comments that are clever, amusing and make you think a bit.

Not your average coffee table art book!
This book is gorgeous, colorful, and has a generous portion of page space filled with the images. The paintings can easily stand alone, but the oddly-specific and sometimes dramatically mundane titles add significantly to the overall enjoyment of the work. For anyone who has spent much time with birds, these uncanny depictions of them are even more of a treat.

Excellent packaging. Super good pictures. Very birdlike indeed. Expensive.

My screams were almost non-existent
The art is fine, I hoped for more of the risible reading that accompanied the earlier work on 'Troubled Birds' that is really entertaining, even if you aren't into birds and birding...
