Armitron Sport Men's Digital Chronograph Resin Strap Watch, 40-8231

Really nice looking watch, the face is not as huge as I thought it was. Standard sport watch features, stop watch, timer, alarm, military time, and back light. In case anyone was wondering, of you start the time or stop watch and go back to the clock screen, it will continue in the background. I went swimming at the beach with it once so far, the ocean was pretty rough, for tossed around by a couple waves and it held up perfectly. Some people don't like the little clip at the end of the band but I think it's a nice addition, keeps the band in place. I think I'll be buying more watches from armitron, excellent quality, reasonable price, you can't go wrong. ***Update*** So i've had this watch for about 2 months, i've showered with it, went swimming at the beach, and even wore it while soaking in a hot sulphur pool in the volcanic island of dominica and it handled it without a problem. I don't usually take time to update reviews or even write them to be honest but i think the brand deserves some props. If anyone wants a watch that they can swim and snorkel with, this one is perfect for it. And if the other watches from armitron are made like this one, they are probably just as good.

Possibly the greatest inexpensive watch ever made surpassing the Casio Illuminator of the 90s. I bought this exact watch starting in 2003 and wore it as my primary watch(every day) until 2025. It seems that they have stopped making this exact model for whatever reason and now instead of it costing 19.99 to 24.99 depending on the dealer, it is selling for $125 or more on ebay or other sites. If you happen to find it, grab it. Its a junk watch that will still get compliments from people all the time. The battery lasts for 5 full years but the wrist strap will only last 3 to 4 years depending on daily usage(1.5 years if you take it on and off constantly). I wear my watch 24/7 never taking it off and only wear decorative watches when going out at night. If Armitron doesn't bring back this model, I will be sad as their replacement options are terribly designed and far cheaper made between materials and clock face quality. If you are a Gshock lover, this watch is better, trust me.

First let me say that this is a very nice watch for the money. But it is no Casio. The feel of the watch is ultra light which can only mean 1 thing, it's got more plastic in it than rubber and we all know that G-Shocks have very hard rubber around their watches for a reason and that is to protect them. This watch is plastic and I doubt seriously if it would take a very hard bump on the ground or against the wall. The watch does have a great look and the digital readout is very easy to read. As far as operating the watch, it's about as simple to operate as a 4 button remote control. This watch is also fairly comfortable compared to other watches the same size. Honestly, it feels better on than all my G-Shocks. As far as the mechanical/electronic operation of the watch I think it is a very fine & accurate timepiece. I would recommend this watch to a responsible adult for casual use, but I would not recommend that you work in it if you have a job where you use your hands a lot or swing a hammer on a regular basis as it's just not that kind of watch. On a scale of 1 to 10, and 10 being the highest, or best, I would give the visual appeal of this watch an 8, the operation and timekeeping specs a 10, the comfort of the watch a 7, and the durability and shock resistance of this watch a 4.5 as I have found it is somewhat fragile compared to other watches in the same category. Without a doubt, I would recommend this watch as it does have a "look appeal" to it and as I said, it's a very accurate Japanese movement and should be a timepiece enjoy for a long time.

I like this watch. I bought one on a hunch specifically for work versus a G-Shock. I would still have the first one except I accidentally ran it over with my car after about a year of having it. That's the only thing that beat it so far. I've had the second one just over a year and it's been through a lot, still runs like a champ. Quite user friendly. The watch itself is quite light in weight. I would not use this as a complete sports watch though, I would call it an active type of watch, for work, riding a bike or hiking, something that wouldn't require free wrist motion or else it will get in the way, as will most wrist watches. The alarms/chimes are loud enough for me, can wake me up and can hear pretty good in loud environments. I have taken the watch down to 15 feet of water and no foggy bezel. The compass is not functional so it is primarily a decoration but it can give you a general idea I guess if you're good with direction. There is a dummy button for you to grasp when settings. The Armitron website does not have exact instructions for this model watch so keep the instructions you get or you will have some trouble as some of there watches come with more and fewer options. For the price you can't go wrong but you shouldn't expect a $100 watch either. This is a great all around watch to have when you don't want to mess up your good watch but still want it to look attractive. As with anything, there are lemons, you could spend $10,000 on a watch and by chance it's faulty, that's a risk you take with anything you purchase. Pros: - Lightweight - Looks great - Good display and lighting - Waterproof - Day/Weekday display - Alarm/Chimes - Dummy button for grasping when changing settings - 2 Time Zone Options - Timer/Stopwatch/Alarm capabilities - 12/24 hour modes - Comfortable band Cons: - Not really a sports watch, just looks sporty - User can tell it's cheaper design - Non-functional Compass

I’ve had this watch for half a year and have had no complaints. It’s comfortable, easy to read, has a lot of utility (ex. It keeps the date and day of week), adjustable band, good battery etc. It does all these things while looking like a more expensive watch, even though it’s inexpensive. I’ve owned many watches in this price range, so from experience, I have to say this is the best watch in its category. Unless the quality goes down or the price shoots up, there’s no better daily watch for less than $20.

This watch works great! I’ve had it for over a year and I wear it regularly while working and during workouts. I’ve never had a problem with it once. I’ve worn other cheap sports watches in the past and they usually break within a couple of months due to how harshly I treat them. This watch has stood the test of at least a year (and still going strong)! It has a large face that is extremely easy to read but it’s also very light for how big it is. It has an alarm (which is quite loud), lap timer, countdown timer, hourly chime, and military time, however, I really only use the normal time and alarm. The light up face lasts for three seconds and is helpful when in dark places such as bars. The adjustable rubber band fastens with a buckle clasp, is very comfortable and most of the time I barely notice I have the watch on. It’s also water resistant. I’ve read other reviews that stated it didn’t work in the water but I shower and go swimming with it on often and I’ve also been in the ocean with it and I haven’t had a problem yet. The only two negative things I’ll say about this watch is that the chrome paint began to peel around the face, but I’ll chalk that up to normal wear and tear. The other thing is that the compass marking are purely aesthetic and are not functional, so don’t buy if you are considering that aspect of the watch. Other than that this watch works great and it was money well spent! I recommend buying it to everyone who wants a visually appearing and highly functioning sports watch. I’m definitely going to be buying another one when I outlive this one!

For 9 solid months ive used this watch! Its still ticking right now! I even slammed into the conrete a few few times in 9 months going n45 mile per hour on bike type vehicle on the high way.. the S (south) icon on the watch got ripped up a little bit.. but I can still see the S and ive crashed so many times into the conrete by accidental crazy stunts... its amazing how cheap this watch was and how much of a benefit it was to me... after buying this watch.. and it lasting me 9 months... and it was the only thing that got my mind to thinking about time in an organized manner.. id only buy from this company and no one else.. because of how good of a watch this and ho cheap that I paid for it... its my favorite military watch and marines would love it.. ive never figured out how to use the compas much though but I dont think the compas part is that important.. it does have 2 times.. that you can set.. and it hads an alarm that you can have it bounce bettween the 2 time clocks if you learn the watch like i have... in a few clicks you can have the alarm bouncing bettween both clocks which allows you to have an alarm that goes off twice instead of once.. and than it has a count down timer which serves as a 3rd alarm... its a very nice alarm.. than you have the lap timer.. which is nice too.. i use this watch and a stop watch for all my timeing needs.. and than i plan on carrying around portable clock so i dont need laptops or cell phones for alarms.. i just need to program my mind.. to remember my daily tasks by setting up alarms keeping in my mind my daily tasks that i need to do when i set up the alarms.. this is a good trick to have like 5 or more alarms going off every day.. its good for sports and team efforts for motivation.. and combat training missions.. for police officers..

I was very confused on a rating for this watch. I was initially thinking a 5 star because it does and it is exactly what it says it is and the price is amazing, cant beat that part. However, Upon opening it, My immediate thought was, wow, It looks awful cheap. Now, Keep in mind i'm not trying to fool anyone into thinking I have an expensive watch when clearly I don't, It just looked cheap to me. took it out of the package and thought, Humm, It feels pretty light and cheap as well. I was able to set it up with no directions at all and no issues, which was awesome. To me it looks a bit big on my wrist, Could just be because I have been wearing a smaller one for sometime since I broke my last work watch. The final rating decision came when I put it on. Which brings us to the band, This has to be the most inflexible, Uncomfortable, Stiff thing I've ever put on my wrist lol. Maybe it will soften up with time but it doesn't seem like its that type of plastic. For price value I would give it 6 stars if I could. For every day wear and real life application I think 3 is about right. For the record I have been and will continue to wear this watch to work everyday stiff band and all, lol.

The design and feel of the watch is very sporty, looks expensive even if it's cheap. The watch will not disappoint you, just go for it.
