Bought this for my dog Bella when she was alive it worked well for her I recommend this to any pet owner who needs this good product

My Vet recommended I supplement this to my 10-year old Shih Tzu after his blood tests showed where his liver health levels was a bit off (however, not in the severe zone). After finding this, via my Vet, and having it administered to my dog for awhile now, I can say for a certainty that this Liver Health Supplement does what it needs to. And has gotten my dog's levels for his level back in the zone it needed to, to remain healthy. I've taken notice that after awhile of taking the supplement, my dog has displayed more energy than usual. Then again, he's still pretty energetic for his age. But this Liver Supplement may be improving his energy levels more so than usual. I see that as a plus. As any Pet Owner, I'd like to see my dog still have a lot more in him in spite of aging. Only thing I want to point out is that the tablet, despite the bottle saying it's "chewable" is anything but. That, and the tablet itself is kind of big for small dogs. I had to resort to a solution to ensure my dog takes it. For anyone who may be struggling to administer this to their dog, especially if it's a small dog- you can get a pill pocket, cut the tablet into small four pieces, break up the pill pocket for the small pieces, and mold the pill pocket like a playdough into the cut up tablet and take it from there. This solution of mine worked for my little boy. And I hope this might be helpful for those of you whom have small dogs that are reluctant to take the tablet.

This supplement is given to dogs with liver disease. It is designed to protect the liver from further damage espectially when used with certain dietary restrictions. Your dog must fast overnight (8 hours without food) and the tablet is given at least one hour before the meal. This gives the body a chance to absorb the components that protect the liver. My dog has a condition known as vacuolar hepatopathy, a type of hepatitis, and the cause is unknown in her case. This medication comes as a very large, chewable tablet. Too large for my small dog. I cut a tablet each morning using a pill-splitter I bought from the pharmacy. Don't cut these ahead of time, and don't leave them out, as they are moisture sensitive and their effectiveness will decrease if left out exposed to air. A tiny container of dessicant is inside the bottle to absorb moisture. I dropped our bottle one day and I worried about not finding all the tablets. I didn't find the little dessicant tube until my dog had chewed it up and ingested the dessicant inside it. The folks at Nutramax have great customer service, very knowledgeable and helpful. Your dog cannot really overdose on this supplement and the dessicant, while not recommended as a food item, is non-toxic. My dog takes this supplement with a strict but veterinary diet designed for her condition. While her liver function has not yet improved (in 3 months), it has not worsened either, and many dogs without supplement or diet change worsen, so we are calling ours a success for now. I am rating it 4 because I wish they made a smaller size tablet so I don't have to cut the big one every day.

Good for my furry baby

I was worried because I’d heard about how difficult the product was to give to dogs, my girl is usually a nightmare to give meds to, however she loves this product, has no trouble with the size ( she’s a boxer), chews them up. I’ve not had her liver checked yet, but as soon as I have those figures, I’ll do an update.

I used these for a dog that the vet swore had a liver issue due to a high ALT test result with a normal bile acid test results. I didn't agree with her but I put him on Denamarin any way to appease her. I later found out that the previous owner had been giving the dog alcohol every time he was drinking. Alcohol is toxic to dogs which would have affected his liver. However, the live can regenerate (heal) its self over time if it isn't continually being exposed to what damaged it. Needless to say, the dog was tested again 6 - 8 months later and found that his ALT level was normal so I took him off the Denamarin. I will note that this is not normally the end result when it comes to high ALT levels and liver damage but I knew enough about the dogs parentage and blood lines to know him having a high ALT level due to a liver shunt wasn't likely. I would still recommend using this product if your vet suggests using it. You can always retest you dogs ALT levels and if normal discontinue using it as I did.

As far as effectiveness when I was able to get the pill down my dog, it had a great effect on her liver enzymes. After just six weeks, her enzymes went down from 1871 enormously high, two 1351.!!! That’s an amazing improvement in her liver functions very quickly The main problem, however is that my dog who is a Jack Russell terrier and very keen on smell and intelligence will not take these pills. I’m at my wits end. If she would, I would continue them forever, but she won’t take them in a tiny amount of food. (Under 1 teaspoon full as recommended by the manufacturer of this product.) or crushed up and put in a small amount of liquid which I squirt down her throat. That had been working, but she is over it and I cannot get this food, not food, but the supplement down her which is a pity. In addition, the pill is so large that it is uncomfortable and impossible to get it down her throat and a pill gun. It is just enormous. Cutting it in half makes it jagged and it also doesn’t go down. I am at my wits end because I want my dog to get better and she has been but she will no longer get better if she can’t take this pill There is a pill by Coco and Luna that says it’s a treat and people are saying they put it on their dogs breakfast, but that is not the way to administer Sam E…. Giving it with any food diminishes it’s effectiveness so I don’t know what to do. Anybody have any suggestions?

Fast service - Nutramax Denamarin lowered my dogs liver enzymes after 3 months of taking them. My small dog does not chew them because too hard but will take them broken in half and swallow them whole.
