Metal Earth Fascinations Apollo Saturn V with Gantry 3D Metal Model Kit

Very nice looking, sturdy and easy to follow instructions. Better value for money than a lot of other metal earth building kits

Once completed this is a beautiful representation of the awesome Hubble telescope. A great gift for model makers and astronomers. The model is quite challenging to make as there are a number of parts that require careful bending into curved shapes (the model is supplied flat). There are a also a number of very small parts. As such I would recommend using a tray or bowl to hold pieces when cutting them out. I would also recommend that when making this or any other metal earth model, that you wear nitrile gloves to prevent finger prints and smears transferring onto the metal.

A nice small model. A thin sheet metal version of plastic model kits. However the instructions are not very clear in places.Some of the parts are very small and difficult to handle. You also need to be very careful in folding the metal. If you over work the metal , the parts will break at the folding seam. It takes a lot of care in forming the metal into a curve as often it ill need to line up and fit to other parts. Some of the parts do not fit well together. All together a challenge to build, but worth it in the end. A good magnifying glass will be of good help.

The building was very fiddly but ok until I got to attaching the body of the LM to the gold landing gear. There were two problems, first the body of the LM sat a long way too low and intercepted another piece (a small gold box that sits on top of the landing gear). The second problem was that the body of the LM was not central on the silver plate that sits between the two sections meaning that it intersected with the raised, angled, silver pieces attached to the landing gear. This second problem had an obvious cause, the holes in the middle plate were cut in the wrong place (about 1.5 - 2 mm too far over) meaning that the body of the LM didn't sit central. When I just attached the plate without anything attached to it, it sat fine however when trying to attach the body of the LM to that, the same problem me arose. I spent a bit of time applying a VERY light torque to the LM body, in an attempt to shift it so the tabs lined up better with the misplaced holes but it made no difference. I am interested in if anyone else has this or similar problems (pieces not lining up the way they should)

This is a great little stocking filler / Gift for anyone who likes their space or astronomy. Although initially confusing at first the instructions make perfect sense after you attach the first piece. Pieces are very small so make sure to build this on a large flat surface. I recommend to "twist" the tabs not bend them as it makes for a tighter fit.

Great. Very tricky, take your time but with patience you will have a beautiful and perfect little model. Be careful to read the instructions carefully. Not for kids, just too difficult.

This was a fun project to do. I think it would be nice to be a little bigger. Take your time in building this model, it wasn't hard to follow the directions. I did have to go back a couple of times to add a forgotten piece. One tab broke off from being bent over, after straitening it, it fell off, but a small dab of super glue helped. Only needed to use glue twice. Watch your twist and bending of tabs. My tools were fine needle nose pliers, hobby scissors. Tweezers did not work for me. The shuttle - purchased many years ago, it is standard die cast model, definately not model scale, but adds to the model to make it more authentic.

Maqueta súper chula, muy pequeñita y cuca, hay que tener maña montándola porque se trabaja con alicates pequeños. Lo regalé a un aficionado de la astronomía y le encantó. Tuvimos problemas con el envío pero nos lo solucionaron rápido y bien así que todo perfecto!
