Lifted my dyed black hair – but still will use a toner next.
I mixed this with a 20 developer and it creates paste consistency that’seasy to work with. Application was simple -I wore disposable latex gloves and applied by hand straight to the ends since I'm going for a balayage look. Left it on for about 40 minutes and the lift was solid. It pulled orange, but that's totally expected and normal when you're lifting dyed black hair for the first time. Anyone doing this kind of color correction knows orange/brassy tones are just part of the process before toner comes in to save the day 🧡✨ I haven't toned yet (that's next on my list), but wanted to post these results first since the lightening process alone went so smoothly. Mixing was simple and it didn't feel harsh or damaging while processing, and I got the lift I needed to move forward with my balayage. Will update if needed once the toner's applied, but so far this is exactly what I wanted out of a powder lightener. Highly recommend if you're doing your own color correction at home and want something reliable and easy to control!

Professional results with no harsh chemical odor!
I’ve used quite a few different lighteners over the years, and the biggest standout feature here is the lack of that intense, suffocating chemical smell you usually get with powder lighteners. • It is significantly more pleasant to work with than other brands. I didn't feel like I had to open all the windows in the house just to use it. • Effectiveness: It lightens evenly and works exactly as expected. I was able to get the lift I needed without the process being an unpleasant experience for my senses. • Consistency: The powder mixes well and doesn't get clumpy, which makes the application process much cleaner. The Bottom Line: If you are sensitive to strong fumes or just want a more comfortable DIY bleaching experience, I highly recommend this. It gives you professional-level results without the harsh, stinging smell. Definitely a 5-star product for me!

Great quality product for a good price
Great product. Was able to lift my roots from a medium/dark brown quite a few levels with a 20vol developer and haven't experienced any damage. Nice texture, no dusting, and closes tight for storage. Great price, will buy again. ** I purposely ombre my hair without toning the bleached out roots. I usually have it all dyed an intense copper and let it fade out with about 5 inches of root growth or more before I redo the roots and then a week later redo the copper.

This is the bleach to use lighten your hair
This bleach worked perfectly, but you have to read the instructions or have someone help you. This is step 1.

It does left up to seven shades
There are better lighters, but this one gets the job done and it’s inexpensive

Great bleach
I have a lot of thick, dark brown almost black hair with some greys, and use this with a 30 volume developer on my roots for about 45-50 mins or until I notice it’s pale blonde. I do it everyone month or two, and a container of this can last me a few months, but it depends on what I’m doing. I also want to mention that I add Hi Pro Pac’s Extremely Damaged Hair Repair Intense Protein Hair Treatment to my conditioner regardless of which bleach I’m using, so I’m sure this has helped my hair overall in some way. Fortunately it’s not as expensive as other brands, and it also lasts me a long time since I mix it half and half with conditioner. I recommend some kind of hair mask / treatment when bleaching, dying, and/or heat styling as they can be damaging over time. — Actual review — I’ve tried many different types of bleach throughout the years, but this one has definitely been the best powder lightener I’ve tried. Others didn’t work as fast, I’d have to go over my roots twice, they’d make my hair feel drier, and would be more gritty. This one works within the time it says it will for my dark hair, I’ve never had to double bleach even when going pale blonde, my hair still feels soft after, and the bleach is smooth when mixed. I’ve also used this bleach on black boxed / permanent black dyed hair a couple of times to get it light blonde, and it never got stretchy, even after a couple bleach baths on top of that. I still use it with 10 or 20 vol for bleach baths to remove temporary / demi-permanent / colorful hair dyes (Adore, Arctic Fox, Manic Panic, etc.) whenever I change my hair color, and it doesn’t damage my hair and make it stretchy like other bleaches can on pre-lightened hair. My favorite bleach is Ion’s Cream Lightener as I find it easier to use, the consistency is better, and it lightens a bit faster. That one’s not always in stock, but this Wella one is a super close second. I think what helps with this powder one though, is using a mini whisk to mix it up. It gives it a very smooth consistency similar to the cream lightener. I used to use other powder lighteners like L’Oreal Quick Blue, Clairol BW 2, Manic Panic, etc., but they left my hair stretchy and dry, especially when removing black boxed / permanent black dye (I’d flip flop between black hair, blonde, and colorful a lot). I’d try all these expensive treatments like Aphogee, Redkin, etc., and it just made it a costly hassle (still recommend the ahi Pro Pac one though!). Wella Color Charm’s Powder Lightener doesn’t leave my hair stretchy, frizzy, or super dry like the others, and I wish I used it instead of the cheaper ones from the start. I’d say try it if it’s within budget. It’s been much more gentle on my hair, has costed me less in the long run, and is a better product overall. Everyone’s hair is different and we might use it differently, so it could be amazing for me but not for someone else. If you can try it, go for it, but be careful regardless since it’s still bleach and can cause damage.

Excellent product.
Excellent lightener, this product works really well, lightens easily, left my hair feeling softer and healthier than it did prior to lightening. Also, the powder is white so you don't have to worry about it tinting the hair blue/Grey like many of the blue powders do. Comes in a bag inside the tub with measured scoop. This is my go-to #1 choice for lightener and it's always a decent price. I use the 32oz of color charm developer with this(I do half 30volume and the other half 20volume) mixes really well, gentle on hair, affordable, no complaints.

Salon-quality results at home
Using a high-quality hair lightener like this Wella Color Charm makes a huge difference. The consistency is easy to work with when mixed, creating a smooth paste that stays put during application. It’s very effective for achieving vibrant highlights or preparing hair for new color. Pros: Reliable and predictable lifting performance, easy-to-mix formula, and professional-grade results. Cons: Like all lighteners, it’s important to follow the timing instructions strictly to maintain hair health.

Perfect results
My hair is a natural very ashy medium to dark blonde (each of my 3 pregnancies has made me a bit darker + I don’t see much sun these days so I’m more of a dark blonde now - level 7). I have long hair with decades of highlights that I usually get done every 3-4 months at the hairdresser. Feeling a bit poor these days and with a good 2 inches of roots, I decided to get 2 of these packets yesterday and do the highlights myself with a cap. I studied thoroughly and liked that this is a white bleach with less ingredients than others - not sure how healthy those blue/purple dyes are that you find in every blonde product these days. I got everything I needed (cap, hook, gloves, brush, shower cap) from my local Uniprix. Remembering my favourite hairdresser telling me to always stick to the low and slow mantra, I mixed the two packets with about 120ml (nearly a full bottle) of the Echosline 20 vol developer they had there. Given the length of my hair, it was a bit tricky trying to do the roots before the already bleached lengths so I just went ahead and slathered it on in one go. I made sure I used every bit of product and my hair was fully drenched in it. I then covered it all with the shower cap. I was keeping a close eye on it and shot it twice with the hair dryer on high heat/low output for a couple of minutes. Within exactly 1h my hair was pearly white. No need for toner (I never use any - I was informed a long time ago that that’s usually a prop for either a bad quick lift or someone with a darker brown/black base trying to go super light). I’m so pleased. Looks as good as in the salon and my hair feels just as healthy as before - I used the KMS Color Care conditioner for blondes which is amazingly hydrating. Top tips - put loads of product on - the better the cover, the better the lift - don’t forget the shower cap to keep it all moist + separate the first very thin layer of your front hair line (ear to ear) and make sure it doesn’t get “painted”. This will smooth the result and limit the risk of getting one of those patchy front layers.
