are the manga colors the same ones in other,, larger sets or are they entirely different colors?

Not entirely. Prismacolor listings usually include a product image which contains the color codes for the included colors. If you compare these against the color codes in other sets, you'll find most of them can be found in the larger set. All of the soft core colors in this set are included in the Soft Core set of 72, but this set also carries a few Verithin pencils with a harder lead for outlining. If you want a wider selection that will include all of the pencils in this set you should buy a Soft Core set of 72 or more and purchase the Verithin colors individually. You can buy sets of the Verithin pencils, but for manga you generally want blacks, purples and brown/reds for outlining. The Verithin set of 36 comes closest but you will still be missing VT 746 1/2. This is the dark brown/red.

The 5 Verithin colors are Tuscan Red, Cool Grey 70%, Black, Dark Brown and Indigo Blue.  The Soft core colors are Poppy Red, Pale Vermilion, Black, Light Peach, Sunburst Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Cream, Process Red, Hot Pink, Parma Violet, Lavender, Spring Green, Chartreuse, White, Electric Blue, Ultramarine, Cloud Blue, and Light Umber.

What is the difference between these pencils and the Prismacolor Premier Pencils?

Regular color pencils Crayola as an example are hard core pencils.......the Prismacolor Premier pencils are soft core and can be blended.  If you buy any of the boxes you might get colors you might not use.....you can usually see which colors come with each box.  Since they are so expensive I would go to their website and actually look at the color samples first.  They can be bought at Michael's for 1.89 each.....have fun
