A classic best-selling manual on Episcopalian faith for lifelong followers, newcomers, and those wishing to sample and explore the beliefs and organization of the denomination. The original Episcopal Handbook , published in 2008, was an instant classic and has been a best-seller ever since. Still providing helpful and insightful information about the Episcopal ethos with a certain amount of whimsy and complete accessibility, this revision maintains the best features of the original work, but adds an update and an expansion on the church today. This revision highlights Episcopal diversityโincluding more women and people of color in the biographical materialโand focuses more on Episcopal, rather than Anglicans. Additions to this edition include updated illustrations, an expanded glossary, and new sections on church governance, the origins of religious belief, and a capsule summary of church history. The Handbook is suitable for use in Sunday school, confirmation classes, inquirer sessionsโand for everyone from visitors to vestries. Review: A Great Starting Book - We hand this book out to all people who want to know more about our church. It's humorous but informative. Fun and fast to read without getting into deep theology. It gives basics and invites you back for more. Review: A fun, easy way to learn about the Episcopal Church - So I'm fairly new to the Episcopal Church and Anglicanism and I needed some reading material to get me acquainted with it. I heard that this book was both informative and humorous so I decided to pick it up. I'm very glad I did! It is highly entertaining and easy to read. The author keeps each section as brief as possible and uses very casual language, so it is easy to read and doesn't get dry like a lot of other religious books can. If you are coming from another Christian tradition, a lot of this book may seem obvious to you. But this book is meant to be accessible to everyone, and I think it is still useful even if you are familiar with some of the beliefs and practices already. I think it is also useful even for people who aren't set on becoming Anglican/Episcopalian but just want to learn about the Church, as it is presented in more of an informative way and less of an indoctrinating way. It should also be noted that this a great introduction, but this book is not an end-all-be-all for the Episcopal Church. The material only skims the surface and covers the very basics. If you are serious about getting deeper into learning about the Church, I highly recommend picking up some other materials and getting in touch with a priest. But, nonetheless, this is a fantastic introductory book written for the modern world.

Great resource for exploring Episcopalianism
Highly recommend this book to anyone who is new to or curious about the Episcopal Church. It's easy to read, informative, and filled with light-hearted humor. My personal opinion is that reading this book beats doing online research about the Episcopal Church because the author is that good and effective at communicating.

Reminds me what it is to be an Episcopalian
Good read for existing Episcopalians, missing Episcopalians, or people wanting to be Episcopalian. Written with just the right amount subtle humor that reminds me that God wants us to be happy. All of us. My favorite chapter is about parents surviving an infant Baptism. Well written, not preachy or guilt inducing. Just sane commentary on how to be a good person (and Christian.)

Tickles your thurible.
Pretty funny in parts, kind of "been there done that" in other parts. A great handbook for someone who has visited an Episcopal parish, or who is interested in joining but can't make all the moving parts come together yet. Would be super for a confirmation class.

Great book for those beginning their journey
During my confirmation class I became really interested in the history of the Episcopal church. Really like the format of the book. Fascinating content for those of us beginning our journey.

Excellent book to get acquainted the Episcopalian church and find out if you are Episcopal at heart.
Excellent book if you want to get more acquainted with what to expect in an Episcopalian church. It helped me understand more about Episcopalian beliefs, customs and traditions. In the end I found out that I have been an Episcopal all of my life and didn't know it, in that I align so well with the Episcopal Church.

Great gift for the newcomer to the Episcopal Church
Fun, witty, yet full of facts this "survival guide" to the Episcopal Church (kneel, stand, sit, repeat) answers all the questions from coffee hour, Henry VIII, Robin Williams, Baptism & Eucharist, and what we believe (and how we should be living that out) in a handy little book. Great gift to confirmands, newcomers, or Episcopalians that stopped their "education" at the age of 12.
