Nice bicycle
I got my Schwinn Wayfarer bike. It came in a box. It came perfect, box in good shape, everything in new, nice condition; no scratches, nothing bend. I could get the discover bike, but I don't like the threadless headset nor the seat tube with shock absorber. The bike rides nice and smooth like some people has said. It is ideal for folks like me with back problems and those who want to ride a little faster than in a beach cruiser. It took about one hour to assemble, but I got experience working in my dad store. These bikes are better assembled with somebody who knows how to do it. They are not elite bicycles and they are not perfect. They are for people who want to have fun and not break the bank. The spokes are stainless steel, mud guards are made of aluminium, so they should be corrosion free. The paint job is well done. Mine is navy blue, almost black. The tires are good for the price of the bike. There are three things that I don't like: 1. The seat. Change it asap. I've had about ten bicycles in my life and had to change the seats no matter the cost of the bike. 2. The stem. It is the uglier of them all. So far it is tighted to the fork. Shame on Schwinn for those cheap made stems. 3. The derailleur. I had problems with a beach cruiser with same derailleur. Broke the second time I rode the bike. Same problem getting entangled in the spokes. I believe it is a lottery with them. I got two cheap mountain bikes with same derailleurs , and they've been working for about ten years without any breaks. In conclusion, I love the bike for what it is. If you want a much better bike be ready to spend some thousands for a "perfect" one. I recomend the wayfarer and I am happy with it.

Great bike, but replace the seat ASAP
I received this bike in the mail in one large box, and it took about an hour to put together. The green color is VERY light (almost looks white depending on the lighting), however I liked this about it. Overall it is a very attractive bike. I bought this bike for more leisurely cruises, however my area is somewhat hilly so I wanted a bike with multiple speeds. This fits perfectly. I am also 5'4" and could adjust the seat perfectly to me. Pros: Easy to assemble, rides smooth, great grips, sturdy clamp on the rear for holding items. Cons: The seat HURTS. I consider it very stiff, without much "cushion" and was only able to ride a few hours down city paths before I was having to ride standing up/shift around quite a lot. I will be replacing with a more cushioned seat. Also, the metal clamp that holds the rear mudguard is flimsy. I could hear some rattling as I rode, but was able to fix this by bending the clamps tighter with some tools.

fantastic deal from Amazon warehouse!
I would first like to point out that this bike came from the Amazon warehouse, and presented a great bargain over a full price new bike . I ordered this bike on Jan. 8, 2023, and it came on Jan. 12th. The box was in good shape, with only 2 small holes in the sides. Upon opening the box, I found everything still wrapped as it was originally, and no problems were visible. When I began assembling the bike I noticed that one of the adjustment screws on the rear brake caliper was broken away. this bike has linear pull brake calipers. I went ahead and completed the assembly of the bike . Every thing needed to assemble the bike was in the box; no missing parts or components. there were a couple of small dings on the front fender, and a rub mark on the rear of the back fender, which will polish out. the small dents are barely visible. I placed a call to Pacific Cycle and explained the problem with the rear brake to the agent on the phone . this was Jan. 17. I had a replacement brake caliper by the 20th, and installed it this morning ( jan.22). After a brief shakedown ride , I rechecked all adjustments an the bike is good to go. The overall experience with purchasing, assembly and customer service was great ! I'm not much on the color blue but this bicycle looks great with its dark navy hue and bright fenders, and I look forward to many years of enjoyment from it. It took awhile to decide on this bike because some of the other reviews I read indicated a lot of problems with shipping damage, misaligned parts, derallier problems, etc. so I was hesitant to take this chance. As they say, " results may vary", and these were my results so far with this bike, and I hope this review will help some one else with their decision to buy one of these or not. I may up date this review after I get more mileage on this bike. EDIT: On April 11, 2023, I took this bike for a ride on the C&O canal tow path from Sheperdstown, Wva. to Mercersville,Md. and back. This was approx. 18 mile round trip, and the bike handled it with out problem. It even got a compliment from a friendly couple who were also out for a ride! After the ride, I could understand some other reviewers consternation about the seat, as it left me a little sore. I believe that it will soften up with use, however. I hope this additional information helps!

DON'T BUY even if you had good experience with Schwinn in the past
TLDR: Don' buy this unless you REALLY like its look; Expect to pay extra $300 on replacing ALL parts to make it work More details: I'm not the kind of user who leaved 1 star because I can't assemble or tune it up - I built 2 bikes from scratch in the past, so I really knows how to build/fix bikes, but this one is simply...too much trouble for any user. Also paid professionals for a safety check & tuneup but they too said it would cost too much to fix the bike: - Rims out of true - Customer support sent me new ones - still out of true; Ended up truing wheels myself - Shifter/derailleur is terrible quality - no signs of damage, but can't hold steady on any gear no matter how hard I adjust them - Brakes - Something is wrong with the spring, as the brakes quickly go out of balance within minutes of adjustment - Cranks/bottom bracket - weird sound as you pedal hard on it I'm really envious of those people who received a perfect bike from Schwinn - I used to have a perfect Wayfarer just like theirs, but the one I get this time isn't. Plus, these problems are definitely NOT shipping damages, but solely quality control failures. Unless you really like the looks of the bike(yes it looks GORGEOUS) and is willing to pay $250 on (parts alone!) to replace those ill-performing parts, DO NOT buy it. (Don't expect customer support to ship you replacement parts - they probably DON'T have working parts in their warehouse either!) Just don't buy this and keep that old good Schwinn in your memory. Or try your luck and pray that the one you got is of good quality.

Beautiful Vintage Look, Great Price
This is a fantastic little bike if you're looking for good value, a vintage/city bike look, and a nice upright ride. I ride this as a short distance commuter bike (4 miles a day and some weekend fun), so the fenders, rear bike rack, and chain guard were my main requirements to protect my work clothes. I find this a comfortable and easy ride with no major issues. I've had several people compliment the bike and in my opinion this *looks* just as smart as several similar bikes from other brands that start at $400. At the time of my purchase there were 2 color options for this bike and the price points were between $160-$190 making this a fantastic value. After a week of riding, I had to tighten a few items - mostly front handlebars and front brakes (things that I had assembled, so not a fault at Schwinn). After three weeks of riding I'm going to tweak the gears a bit; I have been riding them as they were out of the box and they're about 95% right. The instructions manual that comes with the bike is fairly good with details and illustrations, if I cannot get this totally right between the manual and the many YouTube how to videos out there, I'll take it to my local bike shop. Even if you *have* to take this bike for a tune-up or assembly help, this bike is still a really good value compared to many other similar city bikes. Shipping and packaging: I bought the bike from Amazon (not a third party merchant), the bike came shipped in it's heavy duty Schwinn packaging and an amazon box over the top of that; a good move since the outer box was dinged a bit but the Schwinn packaging was totally protected. Shipping was fast and on time. Assembly: The main things that you will have to assemble are 1) saddle on the saddle post, 2) front wheel into the front fork, and 3) handlebars onto the handlebar stem. I did have to adjust the front brakes a little to get the front wheel into the front fork. Since the rear wheel is already in place you shouldn't have to mess with that, the gears, or the rear rack. Minor assembly items are the front fender, front reflector, The main tools you will need are 5mm and 6mm Allen keys, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a sharp knife/blade for lots of packaging zip ties.

Never made it out of the garage
Handsome bike no question - and it seems sturdy once assembled. Two issues though to justify the rating: 1) The instructions are a complete joke - clearly Schwinn took the easy way out and used a one-size-fits-all manual for this bike, so don't expect anything that you read match up with what you're actually trying to assemble. I ended up just looking at the picture of the bike on Amazon and guessing my way through via trial-and-error. Fortunately I have assembled a bike before so at least I do have some sort of baseline of knowledge - but for anyone who has trouble guessing their way through technical materials, look elsewhere or pay someone to do it for you. 2) The front tire was punctured right out of the box. After a few calls to the Schwinn help line (which got disconnected because their phone system is a bit hit-or-miss), I finally got through to someone who promised to send me a new tube for the front tire. Given my experience thus far, I'm going to go ahead and order a tube myself and if the tube from Schwinn arrives great - if not, I won't be surprised. Will update this review once I actually have a chance to ride but the lesson here - you get what you pay for. Buy a real bike from a reputable bike dealer - online is way too much of a hassle. 1 star ***** Update - 2 days later ***** Finally got a replacement tube for the front tire - I bought it myself from Amazon. I replaced it relatively seamlessly and the bike was operational. My impressions? It's not an expensive bike and it rides like an inexpensive bike. I would describe the experience overall as flimsy. Do I feel safe riding it? Sure - but it does feel like it could also fall apart at a moment's notice and that makes the riding experience a bit less pleasant. The seat is also incredibly uncomfortable and fell out of position the first few times I got on it. All-in - a decent 2-star bike but don't get too excited and expect some hiccups in getting it operational.

Some complaints, but I still love it.
Yes I'd recommend it, but buyer beware. First things first, the bike came much sooner than Amazon originally stated (which is great because I wanted it before leaving for college). It was supposed to take a month or so, but in reality it only took a week to two weeks. So, today I was delighted to discover the box on my porch upon returning from an errand. However, as I approached it, I noticed something VERY alarming. The box was opened. & I don't just mean that someone tampered with it. No. The package had ZERO tape or even evidence of tape. I peeked inside, and there was a second box nested inside, nearly the same size as the outer box. The nested box (that actually contained all the parts) had ZERO evidence of tape as well. As my neighbor and I started putting it together, we seemed to have been missing a screw, which likely got lost in shipment. Now I can't attach the front metal tire fender. It's not a huge deal because I can replace the parts and the fender is not an integral component; however, this situation could've been much worse. I am alway satisfied with Amazon's Prime packaging, but this was a major disappointment. Secondly, the picture on here is way off. The bike is not the aqua color shown. Like other reviewers have said, it's a VERY pale mint/sage color. Schwinn is correct to call it sage in the description, but Amazon needs a better picture because this one is misleading. I personally find the color charming as it adds to the vintage look. Thirdly, some other reviewers have stated the tires are 26". I don't know what model they wound up with, but my tires say 28". As a 5'3" girl with short legs, this initially concerned me, but the seat and handlebars adjust well, so there is not a height problem for me nor for those who are a couple inches shorter than me. Fourthly, the bike had some neon pink marks that won't come off on the paint near the front tire. The marks are small and not in a noticeable location though. The white, faux leather handlebars are very cushy, but have grungy marks. I'm not too upset about this though because I think you have to expect a little wear when you have a product like this shipped halfway across the country. On to the positives. Overall, this bike appears to be of great quality for the price. The 7 speeds are just enough for neighborhood/street/light trail riding (once you run through them a few times to loosen them up), the seat is cushiony enough for my petite self, assembly wasn't too difficult because it only requires a few tools, an hour of time, and the ability to attach the front wheel and fender, handlebars, pedals, and seat. I will warn you that the instructions do not appear to explain how to attach the fender. The bike came with fully aired narrow 700c tires and the chain ready, so I could hop on after assembly. With it all said and done, Amazon needs to fix a few issues with the image/description and shipment of this product, but Schwinn has made an affordable, adorable, durable bike for vintage-loving gals or guys who desire a stylish, practical means of transportation.

This is a very good bike for the price
This is a very good bike for the price. Some people are like 'oh it took only a few hours to put together', but I am a student who has a flexible schedule and I can say it took longer than a few hours. The initial assembly took a few hours - around 4 - but the tweaking took a few days. When I first put it together I felt glorious - like I had finished building a colosseum. I decide to take this work of art out for a spin at 11pm. Once I get outside, I get onto the sidewalk and prepare for take off. I mount the bike and immediately take a dive as both the seat and handle bar give in. It was painful.. for my ego. So I go back inside and tinker away. Then come out and hooray, the seat is kind of stable, but the handlebar is shaky. I throw caution to the wind and start riding.. or peddling.. then I see that the chain is like not in place or something? I'm not a mechanic. But I use some of the wisdom my father passed on to me to fix the chain (align it with the gear.. it was not hard or complicated lol.. but if you're not expecting it, then you feel like a fool).. anyway, I am telling you all of this so that when you buy this awesome bike, you won't feel disheartened by the fact that it might not take a minute to put together. Also, don't go to a repair person until you just need it to be tightened.. because you'll have a much better experience if you know why your bike messes up and how to fix it easily when it does. I ended up going to get it tightened because the seat and handlebar war just not tightening with my arm. So the guy who did it also gave my bike a check up and totally validated my pride by saying I did a great job. He only charged $5 for labor (but others did the same for free). Another bike repair man filled my bike with air and also adjusted the seat for me, since I had it a bit high. A lot of people will give you advice on how to sit on your bike, but don't change all the time. Test it out, and if it feels weird and to laborious then go back. Sometimes the advice is for efficiency, but a lot of times it given by veteran bikers who found their way after years of biking. anyway, good luck.

The perfect bike
This bike was so easy to assemble, rides beautifully, and looks absolutely gorgeous. I fine tuned the gears and brakes by watching videos online, and couldn’t be happier with the results. It’s lightweight, quick, and oh so stylish. I am so happy with this purchase.

Cruising in style
I am really happy with this bike. The price, the quality, the shipping- everything. The bike was very easy to put together. Mine did not have any damage that I’ve noticed. I’ve used a hybrid for years to get around town and commute to work and decided to try the upright cruiser style. The style of the wayfarer is clean and classic. To outfit my old bike with fenders, a rear rack and kickstand was well over a hundred bucks- this bike is ready to go- I slapped on my Thule basket for my work gear and I’m good to go. Maybe it’s my age(45) but I really enjoy the upright sitting position. I won’t be winning any races but I’ve chosen comfort of speed. What’s with the rush anyway? I highly recommend this bike.
