Can this product be sanded down and painted after it cures? Will this product stick to metal? Is this product water proof?

Sanded = yes. Painted = Do some research on painting of foam and check the Smooth-On website for more info. Stick to metal = Yes. Water-proof = It is not a foam for nautical use if that is what you are asking.

Pouring final products or to make molds either works

No, Vaseline won't release the foam from the gypsum. As long as your mold doesn't have a lot of convolutions and/or undercuts, you can get good results from sealing the mold surface with 2 or three layers of shellac and using a mold wax to release the foam. You're much better of casting this foam in silicone molds.

When put it in a silicone mold and wait for it to dry, it hardens. I want it to be soft. Is my measurements wrong or am I buying the wrong series?
