this will work with any standard motherboard assuming that: motherboard power is 20 or 24 pin main and 4 or 8 pin CPU. Some Venders like dell and HP have proprietary connectors and this will not work on those occasions.

Will this work in an HP s5000?

This power supply comes with P8*1 connector, but I needed a P4*1 for my HP s5000, so NO it does not work for the connectors on my HP SFF desktop.
