Where are the made? China, U.S., etc?

They're made in Chicago, IL. They are not a wax paper, but rather a parchment paper. They're a little pricy but a whole lot easier than cutting your own. I use 2 papers per patty. I weigh-out the portions then place a paper on the bottom of the press, put the meat on top, then top it with the second sheet. Flatten it slightly with your hand, then press it. I lay them out on a sheet pan: The layers separated with plastic wrap, then freeze them for 12+ hrs. Then put them in ZipLock bags, frozen. They'll last for several months.

Can you use a pen to write on these sheets?

Yes you can! I bought 2 boxes to use in my classroom for kids to help them with transformations (geometry). We write on them and then do rotations, reflections, etc. Yes, you can write with pencil, pen, marker, etc. I have used it all on them.

How many sheets are in the package?

1000. Good product. I make my own burgers to freeze and these are so handy along with my "press" which should show up as you begin to order the sheets.

How can I be assured it won't be delivered damaged like others have received?

While there are no guarantees about anything in this world, my patty papers were delivered unscathed, as were other types of paper products, like printer and parchment. Have faith!
