I’ve had this device for about six weeks now and I have to say I'm really impressed with it. I don't have a MacBook Air or Pro, I'm using mine on my iMac. The results I find; are excellent. MINIX claim it’s the “World's first to combine SSD storage with additional data and display output ports. Delivering high-speed transfers and ultra-convenience.” I have to agree, let's take a look at it in more detail. The white USB C connecting cable which feels like Neoprene; measures 150mm and the Hub itself is 114 x 44 x 11mm. The case is made from Aluminium with the base being of grey plastic construction. It has 1 x HDMI [4K @ 30Hz], 2 x USB 3.0 and USB-C for Power Delivery. Within it holds a well laid out circuit board with SMD components and on the flip side a 240Gb M.2 SSD. It gets quite warm, but the heat is soon dissipated through the metal case. It comes with a 3 year limited warranty. Let's take a look at the specs. MINIX claim it can supports up to 400MB/s read and write speed. (performance may vary depending on MacBook model, OS and application.) I tried my own testing using Amorphous Disk Mark, the results are in the photos but it does perform exactly as MINIX claim with its read/write capability. The UDB C Power delivery function gives excellent results with the voltage remaining steady under load. The 2 x USB 3.0 sockets work a treat and of course allow extra expansion for additional devices or the transfer of data. The HDMI socket, gives picture perfect results even when connecting a projector for a 150 inch display. Plus the 5.1 surround sound is fab too. I know MINIX didn’t intentionally build it for this purpose, but I reformatted the drive on my Android Phone (this format still works with my iMac) and copied some of my music and movies to the MINIX Neo. This allowed me to listen to my favourite bands or watch a Movie whilst traveling (especially useful if your phone does not have the ability to use a Micro SD Card to increase it’s storage) The bottom line is. Yet again MINIX have pulled it out of the hat. This was a great investment for me as I will use it in all sorts of situations. Is it worth the price DEFIANTLY. So for those thinking of buying, I fully recommend it. 5*’s from me.

The description says that the unit is designed for Mac products. But it works perfectly on my Windows 10 laptop. I reformatted it as NTFS.

I was looking for an external SSD and a hub for my Mac-Pro and luckily found this all-in-one product. Pros: +++++++++HIGH SPEED DATA TRANSFER Great transfer rates as promised and needless to say about SSDs. +++++++++++PERFECT FIT TO USB-C PORT Hubs connects perfect to my mac, just like my power adapter, perfect fit - neither tight nor loose. +++++++++++++BEST HDMI CONNECTIVITY connectivity is good, I connect to my 48inch tv and no compromise on picture quality. +++++++++++++++USB3.0 PORTS CONNECTS GOOD I usually connect my old USB3.0 1TB hard-drives and able to carry all activities - no issues faced. +++++++++++++++++STABLE AND INTACT Connected the hub and just carry my laptop around, connection remained intact all the times. Charge port actually comes handy and especially important for the Mac's with just 2 ports. Nice grip on any surface, remains in position. +++++++++++++++++++REMAINS AT ROOM TEMPERATURE ON USAGE I did not observe it getting heated-up like other hubs. It just gets l'll warm when HDMI is connected for long time, otherwise remains kool. +++++++++++++++++++++PORTABLE And needless to say on the finishing. Smooth feel, slim, light weight and you can just carry around. Love the color - it matches my mac. It goes wherever my mac goes. Cons: None

This is the second Minix product I have owned and represents an evolution in their product design both in build quality and form factor. Fast data transfer and multiple ports hybridizes two devices into one, meaning less dongles and cables to carry around in your bag. This product is ideal for anyone with a newer generation Macbook who wants fast, additional storage on the go. Missing one star because I wish it had a card reader!

I know this is designed for exclusively for Apple MacBook but I decided to purchase for my Windows 10 machine. My laptop is a Yoga 720 and does have a USB-C connection which I would assume this would work without any issues on the Minix NEO SSD device. Minix Neo SSD is extremely lightweight and can literally take it anywhere without worrying about the bulkiness. The design is sleek (matches my laptop) and it is fairly small compare to other external drives. In addition it has multiple additional PORTS. I have tried the HDMI connectivity only at 1080P since I don't have a 4K but it works perfectly fine. This is an excellent addition to have around for when I am travelling. I can save both photos/videos and use additional ports I need to get my job done. I transferred a 20GB file from my C drive to the NEO SSD drive in 20seconds at approximately 290-310 MB/S rate. Extremely fast transfer. I decided to use this device as my source to saving all my photography last edited photos via Lightroom. Its been a couple of days of using the drive and testing the drive. So far I am extremely happy. I would again purchase from Minix. This is my 2nd purchase as I had purchased their Minix Multiport Adapter. Lastly, excellent customer service! They are based out of HK but the response time has been top notch for when I have questions .

This is a really smart addition to the line. The SSD mounts and transmits without issue; I set it up as the Time Machine for my user folder, and it worked perfectly. The ports are well-positioned for bulky cables. The build and materials are as high-quality as I expect from this brand. The cables and connectors are reinforced, and the body is well-constructed, down to the rubber button feet. The felt carrying case adds an extra layer of protection in my laptop bag. It’s so nice to finally combine my essential backup drive with my hub.
