Do the whisk and hooks reach the bottom of the bowel

Arrived today and I was keen to use straight away..have to say I was a little disappointed, agree with another reviewer, I had to keep stopping to ensure all the mixture was beaten..even had to finish the beating by hand. It took more strength than anticipated to change the blades but was easy to clean. Will persevere with this mixer to see if it is any better at whisking or kneading dough.

Is the mixer itself made of metal or plastic?

The body of the mixer is plastic - it’s has suckers on the base that keeps it steady. The bowl is stainless steel. I have had the mixer a few months now and am very pleased with it.
