worth the money.
I just lost a rod (lure, line, reel, and a monster fish apparently) at a spillway. I cast my live bait into the current, sit my rod on the wire fence and started preparing for my second rod. When I was almost done I turned around to find my rod gone. I assume a regular big fish wouldn't have the strength to lever the rod up over a four-foot fence top. But it happened. I decided that it shouldn't happen again. So I decided to find a holder. After a survey I found this one and was attracted by how it worked. So I ordered a pair and it arrived fast. I used it yesterday and it caught a fish FOR ME. It's a drum fish, but it means it worked. You may wonder how this guy can hold a rod on a rail. Simple. I happened to find some underground sprinkler pipe (sturdy), I cut it to 12 inch segments, slip it through a think metal bar, bent the bar at both ends so it wouldn't allow the pipe segment to move up and down. The top was bended in a curve of the same size of the diameter of the fence rail. Put it on the rail, fastened it with lashing strap(top and bottom), and stick the holder into the pipe hole. And that's it. Looks complicated, but it's really simple. I went fishing the same spillway this afternoon again. Other fellow anglers had to lean above the fence and stretch both arms out to work their baits. I used swim baits, which was cast into the current, so, the holder did the reaching out part for me, and the current did the work the bait part. I didn't catch fish, but neither did other fellows. Couldn't blame the holder: )

Unbelievable it really works !!!!
This gadget is amazing. I went to our local reservoir and slayed it. This is great for the times if you want to cast your pole and read a book or do some work or your playing with your children. This worked every single time Iโm real pleased with it. Quality on these pole holders are damn good. Iโm impressed. For the trout I used the first bottom notch on the trigger. Plus this works great for those real windy days when itโs hard to tell if your getting a bite.

Fish on!
So far we have had pretty good luck catching fish with these. The fish don't have to be very big to set it off. it has been nice to be able to sit back with a cold one and wait for it to go off. Fish on!

Hooked and Caught first time!
Okay, I have BNO affiliation with this product/company/manufacturers/ etc, etc. This is my experience, and my experience alone. Seen this product on a YouTube fishing video. Either 618 or TyPatrol.... looked neat, bought it, and looked forward to it coming in. (BTW... I got the double set). The day they camne in, the wife and I went fishing. Stuck them in the mud, cast the rods, set them in the holders, tightened the line, rigged trigger and waited. A few minutes later, my rod get a nibble.... A little more nibble.... a little more nibble.... It was funny... My wife is saying, "Just get you pole and hook the fish." I am laughing and saying " Just give it a minute. I would like to see if this thing works." Back comes the fish and more nibbles.... then all of a sudden, the rod flings up. You could tell that a fish is on because the rod did not come all the way up to a vertical position. (There was definite tension on the line) I grab the rod from the holder and sure enough... FISH ON!!!!!. We could not believe it. The wife and I were laughing the whole time I reeled it in. Was it a monster fish? No. Just a little Muddy Water Catfish, but it works! First Time it worked. We just received these in the mail the other day and only used them that on time, however; we are looking forward to going back out to use these again. How many fish did we catch while using these? I don't remember off hand. How many got away? Hard to say. We would cast into the river and sometimes floating debris would hit and tug on the line causing a premature trigger but I can say that everytime a fish caused the trigger to snap, BAM... FISH ON!.... I (WE) really do recommend these. For like??? I forget what I paid ($39.00???) Way worth the fun!!! Highly recommend. Hope this helps.

Solid Rod Stand, but the "Automatic" Feature is Tricky
Picked up this 2-Pack of Stainless Steel Automatic Spring Fishing Rod Holders, and while the build quality of the stands themselves is solid, the actual "automatic" hook-setting mechanism has been a bit of a challenge for me.What I LovedDurable Stainless Steel: The construction is high-quality and feels very sturdy. These aren't flimsy stands; they hold up well in the ground and feel like they can handle the tension of a larger fish.Great Value 2-Pack: Getting two stands for the price is a solid deal, especially if youโre fishing with multiple rods or out with a buddy.Works as a Standard Holder: Even though I struggled with the spring feature, they still function perfectly as heavy-duty, reliable rod holders that keep your gear secure and off the ground. What I Didn't LoveComplicated Setup: The mechanism is definitely not intuitive. It took me a while to try and figure out the right tension, and I still haven't quite mastered how to get it working "automagically" as intended.Safety Concerns: There is a bit of a learning curve, and itโs actually a little scary to set. I was constantly worried about accidentally triggering the spring and pinching my fingers during the process.Inconsistent Hook-Setting: I still need more practice or a better understanding of the sensitivity. So far, I haven't been able to get the spring to fire correctly on a strike, so for now, it's essentially just a regular (albeit very sturdy) pole holder for me.Final VerdictRating: 3/5If you are looking for a rugged, stainless steel rod holder, these are excellent. However, if you're buying them specifically for the automatic spring-back feature, be prepared for some frustration. Itโs a bit of a "pro-level" setup that requires some serious patience and care to get right. For now, I'm happy using them as standard stands, but I'll definitely need more practice before I trust the automatic trigger again!

Pretty cool
I have been using my buddies for a while and I finally just bought my own. They are really useful for Shore fishing. I just throw the line out in the water and set it and then go play with my kids. The fish sets off the rig and gets hooked and waits for me to reel it in. By itself the spring is strong but with a pole in the water and even a small fish it won't snap back to quickly. Great idea and good product. Highly recommend for shore fishing

Am I cheating?
I originally purchased these rod holders to get them to lay horizontal as opposed to the typical vertical rod holders. I was very skeptical about how the automatic hook set would work and opposed using it at first. Boy oh boy was I wrong. This thing worked like a charm! I hooked 7 large carp while fishing in the river and not one was lost due to an incorrect hook set. It was sturdy, held up to a 19lb carp. At one point I felt like I was cheating.

Worth the money!
These are compact and fit in the tackle box, easy to put together. The stake you drive in the ground isnt the longest so keep a eye on it if you catch the big one. For multiple rod use definitely worth it as like I said they are compact

Excellent! High Tension Spring!
The tension spring a little heavy duty! I swapped out for a cheap spring I got at the hardware store! Works absolutely perfect now!! Highly recommend!!

It Works!!!!
Bought this for a recent fishing trip, where we'd be focused a lot on drinking beer, so thought this would be ideal to not miss the bites.Didn't have high hopes and thought it would be a gimmick (as you can probably tell if the sound uploads on the attached video).......but it worked! It isn't as sensitive as I thought it would be- I had it on the most sensitive setting and still seen the bites and time to get my phone out to record, but at the end of the day, it worked and got the fish.If you're looking for something that means you can focus less on your line (so you can have a beer or get your head down for half an hour) I'd definitely recommend.......looking forward to my next trip now and not worrying about missing any fish.
