Charcoal HB Sketching Pencil

Smoothness was perfect

I had a hard time finding this exact pencil by itself, so I was glad when this one showed up. It seems as though it will last a long time. Its function will be to sketch in outlines over backgrounds I've painted in acrylic, a very specialized task.

I used these instead of pencil for sketching outdoors. They come in different neutral colors and are a little like crayons in pencil form.

It ended up not being what I expected. I didn't realize these pencils are used for charcoal. I was planning on having a really nice white pencil for my color pencil artwork, but it does not mesh well with my wax-based Prismacolor pencils. I am soon going to be getting Faber-Castell Polychromos color pencils that are oil-based, and maybe they'll mesh better.

This pencil has a much larger barrel than most charcoal pencils as a result I have had significantly less breakage than present in thinner pencils. They are a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it.

These are extremely good pencils and I used them before and was quite happy with them. I like using Sepia tones. The pencils are just a joy to work with, especially how smooth they are and the ability to apply a wide range of tones. My stock, which I bought from a famous art store, in person, ran out so I ordered more. To be honest, the pencils came in excellent packaging, not just for the body of the pencils but the top was given extra care, with additional bubble wrap and tight wrapping using strong adhesive tape. In fact, it took me about 5 minutes to unwrap the pencil. I was impressed. However ... The charcoal in the middle was broken. I'm an established artist and I know how to sharpen pencils and I was handling sharpening those pencils with extra care. I know they arrived broken on the inside. This is very disappointing. These are not cheap and I needed them for my drawings. Again, the pencils came in a perfectly wrapped packages, which shows how great the packaging was. However, I'm guessing that at one points during handling those pencils and before I got them they were dropped. Those pencils are very fragile and dropping them would cause breaking the charcoal. Guaranteed!

macht Kohlezeichnungen interessanter. Zeichnen damit fällt sehr leicht. Gut zum Verwischen.

Awesome pencil. But you need a knife cutter to sharpen. It does not fit to mechanical ar normal sharpners
