Learning curve but totally worth every dollar and minute spent
This product was a HUGE game changer for my family and I cannot recommend it enough. I needed to pump in order to give myself more flexibility and freedom without having to give my son formula if it wasnโt necessary. I pump when Iโm driving, blow drying my hair, making dinner. Seriously amazing. There was, however, a learning curve to this. It took me 5 sessions of pumping, reading the guides provided on the app, and adjusting/readjusting to get the suction latched on just right to where I was actually producing a lot. My advice: read the directions thoroughly! Suction is everything and if you donโt fit it super tightly in your bra, youโre not going to get NEARLY as much milk. I had them loosely in my bra and the suction on the flange wasnโt completely sealed all around my breast and I produced a 1/2 oz from both breasts combinedโฆ once I kept at it and figured out the suction and which flange would fit my nipple best, I produced 3 oz between both breasts in half the time! While you can def accomplish a lot of chores and things while pumping, donโt do things that cause you to lean over or have to be bounced around a lot because the suction with release and youโll be pumping very little if nothing out. Next, create a solid routine/system for how youโre going to clean, dry and store your pump and itโs pieces. I have an amazing pump backpack that came with the pump my insurance provided me and I converted it to have everything I need for this pump so itโs incredibly easy to bring with me. I feel like a human woman again with this pump because you donโt have tubes going everywhere and your nipple exposed. I hating pumping, I was embarrassed and it took SO much time out of my day. Granted, you still need to clean all the parts but you gain back so much time because you can do things! Another thing I absolutely love is that for me, this pump helps to stimulate my breasts to produce more milk. You can literally wear these for an hour each day and get so much milk and itโs perfect because it increases your production overall which is something I needed because my son wasnโt getting enough milk at the breast and we had to start supplementing with 4oz of formula a day - which none of us enjoyed. Iโve only been using this a few days (though Iโve used it like 7 times already haha!) so Iโll try to update as time goes on to be sure this product still stays as top notch as I currently think it is. I hope this helps any lactating mammas out there to know that this is expensive but absolutely worth the time you gain back from it if you can afford it!

Elvie over Willow!!!
Third time breastfeeding and I am so happy to find the Elvie.. I used the Medela and it was great, just very tied down to a machine.. I then got the Willow and let me tell you why it sucked! Elvie vs Willow - the willow is much louder! You hear the mechanisms moving and have to walk around with a little motor rumbling in your bra.. Elvie has a very faint sound but all you really hear is the liquid hitting the container - when held side by side the willow and Elvie are about the same size. But when in your bra your breast is much more flush with the Elvie and has a much more discreet look - while pumping itโs crazy how smooth the Elvie is.. I have to check sometimes to see if itโs even on, but yup itโs working away you can barely even feel it .. the willow was a little more harsh no matter the settings (the Elvie just fits your nipple more natural) - the functionality is exceptionally better with the Elvie. You can change whether your pumping left or right.. you can switch from expression to stimulation.. you can set a timer! (willow doesnโt offer any of this) .. and the app is great and so far has been very accurate on volume pumped. - cleanup! Once again the Elvie is just better!! The willow has parts that are small and can be hard to get into, and if using containers instead of the bag itโs difficult to clean in the small crevices. The Elvie has an awesome container and it easy to clean and pour milk out of. - a major problem I had with the willow was milk spillage .. after you pump you need to flip this switch to seal it and then turn the pump over and after some time that became faulty and milk would just pour out getting the pump itself all wet. My legs drenched and sticky.. also if all went well with the flip, removing the container always spilled milk again. Itโs messy!! The Elvie had me so in love when I realized itโs almost impossible to have a big spill. And with the container being on the bottom, it wonโt spill all over the actual pump - as for the sealโฆ the willow does allow you to move a little more (bending over and such) but if you keep the Elvie compressed nicely to your breast with no gaps at all with a bra you wonโt have any spillage! - the willow only has a 1 year warranty (which I learned the hard way that isnโt enough) .. Elvie has a 2 year which makes me feel they are more confident in the product - oh almost forgot,, the Elvie comes with extra container AND a different size nipple flange (this cost extra for willow) - the Elvie uses a usb charger so it can be plugged in almost anywhere.. even the car. The willow uses a standard dc plug and makes it hard to charge on the go Being I just got the Elvie I canโt comment on the long term durability.. but I can already tell the Elvie is made way better and much higher quality than the willow Why I went to Elvie - I used my willow pumps for 4 months, they worked just fine. Stored it for a year.. went to use it again and one never turned back on and the other one worked for a few days after which a pin broke off of the pumping mechanism and is completely useless now. After calling and just being over my year warranty willow basically said TOUGH LUCK.

Bite the bullet and just buy it! A Must have!
6/28/21: I am writing this review after a one time use so I will be editing this for an update. I struggled to buy this because of the price, which is why I only bought the one to try. I am an ER nurse and do not have much downtime to go to a room and pump by a wall. On my off day I decided to try this Before Going to work. After feeding my seven week old and pumping using my madela PIS (getting 0.5oz on R side), I tried the Elvie. After five minutes, I got 1.5 ounces on my R side. Pros: It is very quiet. It is not 100% soundless, but for me that was not a bad thing. I also do not notice the suction or notice it even in my bra. The pump in style had a much stronger suction and always seemed to hurt my nipples after a session. So this Lighter suction is very much ideal for me. It is much more portable than any other pump I have tried considering I have to carry so much stuff with me to my job. Itโs extremely convenient. It is very easy to measure your flange size as it has markers on each flange so you are able to tell if itโs too big, too small or the perfect size. I walked around my house, and it stayed in place very well. I love the reusable collector. Itโs durable and not flimsy! Cons: This is not really a con for me, but for some it might be a con. It does have five small parts to wash, but in comparison to the large parts of a pump in style I much rather clean this than the other. You do have to have the perfect flange size. It will leak if you donโt have the right size. My nipples will swell to a 24 from a 21 so I just end up with a 24 anyway. Iโll bend over forward just a little bit to drain it as I am pulling it off my breast to help with the leaking. So this is not a con for me either but it might be for someone else. I did read from other reviewerโs that boiling the washable parts has ruined theirโs, so I washed with really hot water and dish soap then rinsed it with boiling water instead of letting it boil for the five minutes. This is a con for me but I am willing to take the risk for the convenience. It will leak if you bend over comparatively to the willow (I did not buy the willow because I heard a lot of my nurse friends say it wasnโt as good as the Elvie). UPDATE: 9/7/21 Things I will try and review on in my update: -the app: itโs a reference range. Like 2.25 oz- 3oz. Which is fine. This is pretty accurate and helpful when Iโm pumping at the hospital seeing patients. You can save your pump sessions, I donโt but if you want- itโs an option. -on the job wearability: you canโt tell I have a pump on under my scrubs!! The only downside to this pump is you canโt bend over because I will leak. I have to squat down to pick things up or do anything that involves bending. During CPR, if Iโm pumping, Iโll take it out and put it to the side before itโs my time to start compressions. -if it depletes/increases my supply: it didnโt deplete or increase. Supply stayed the same! -if I get any clogged ducts or mastitis (I got clogged ducts EVERY TIME with my PIS): I would occasionally get clogged ducts but not often. If I did, I used the LaVie breast massager (also on Amazon!). I definitely recommend this pump. It has been a total life saver and would buy this for a friend! Must have

Elvie WINS vs. Willow (I own both)
Let me start by saying I paid out of pocket for BOTH a willow and elvie pump- so this is completely unbiased. I purchased the Willow and right off the bat constantly had issues with it. I purchased both the reusable bags option and the configuration to pump into the reusable containers. I canโt tell you how many times I contacted customer service due to the pump being unreliable, it was always something -and one of the 2 pumps was eventually replaced by Willow. I also mention I ordered all 3 available sizes of flanges to make sure sizing was correct. My biggest issue with the Willow is it truly decides when it wants to work( ESPECIALLY with the reusable containers- customer service admitted to me these are still very much a work in progress And I would say thatโs an understatement), Iโm an exclusive pumper so skipping a pump session due to the pump not working just isnโt an option for me. I canโt just skip a session if the pump doesnโt work- so I constantly had to have another standard pump near as backup (doesnโt that eliminate the point of it!?!) There were so many times where the willow would never switch from stimulation to expression despite meticulously following instructions from Willow and having coaching consultation with them. Also the willow is significantly louder and larger (so if you are small or have a small frame- unless you are wearing a jacket it looks absolutely absurd and ridiculous. I would say the elvie is near silent and the willow is pretty much in line with the volume/sound of a standard pump- maybe just a bit quieter. The elvie- works every time, I literally have yet to have an issue with it. Is so quiet and small that I wear it when Iโm working and no one can ever tell even when they are standing right next to me. You could wear this with thin clothing and it doesnโt look ridiculous like the willow. Far fewer/easier parts than the willow is a huge bonus as well. As far as comfort- Iโm not at all sensitive- but the willow made me bleed so many times even when using the lowest pump setting and again- wasnโt a size issue as I owned all 3 size flanges to find the perfect fit. My only regret is not getting the elvie sooner. I absolutely despise the willow- and wish I didnโt waste my money on it (not cheap). In my opinion there are 0 advantages of the Willow over the Elvie, not even 1!!!!!!!

Thought I'd love it, very disappointed.
Let me say I am VERY disappointed in this product. I have tried on multiple occasions to keep using this product as well as seek support. It seems like there is always an issue. Aside from medical factors this pump leaks, has inconsistent suction, and randomly powers off (not pause, it turns entirely off). The only thing consistent about these pumps is the amount of issues it's causing. Over the last month postpartum, I have probably spent too much time stressing about this product. Medically these pumps have caused so much pain and trauma to my nipples. After consulting with a lactation specialist, I was sized to the correct flange and STILL had pain. I went as far as seeing the doctor because blisters formed on my nipples, which ended up also causing thrush! Constantly having open sores from these pumps have led both the doctor and lactation consultant advising me to stop the use! Ridiculous that I'm out hundreds of dollars on these pumps and all the accessories I've invested in to try to make these work for me. This product is promoted as pumping anytime/anywhere, silent, wearable, hassle-free, smart, and responsive. It's really unfortunate that I can find a problem with each of these categoriesโฆ. How can I pump anytime/anywhere when I have been advised by support to sit still, in an upright position many times? To avoid leaking this is what I was told to fix the issue. NEWSFLASH this item STILL leaks when I do this! Besides the point, the #1 reason to buy this pump is the ability to be portable. When you barely have enough supply for your baby, it's very discouraging and disappointing to have it leak all over. Support also advised me to check all corresponding parts, which I have, and we found no issues there. Just told to sit stillโฆ. Which doesn't even fix the issue. What a joke. Makes me wonder how much milk I'm really missing out on, how much my baby is missing out on? What if these didn't leak, could I no longer need to supplement with formula? Really sad I have to stress about this! A silent pump would be great. I have addressed this issue with support as well. Squeezing and a thumping sound (not how it typically should sound) takes place. While they have replaced the pump before, this issue continually arises! Not only that, but I notice every time it occurs, the pain is even worse! Again, pain which has caused blisters and damage to my nipples leading medical professionals to advise me to stop using the product. Sure, the product is wearable, BUT why would I want to wear this anywhere when all it does is leak? As mentioned above, I've been advised by support to sit still when using. Either way, the product still leaks! So as far as being wearable, I'll pass since I soak through my bra and shirt anyway! Hassle-free is a JOKE! While there are only 5 parts to clean, the hassle comes from all the issues which no one can seem to resolve. Continuously saying the same tips (which haven't worked!) and sending new hubs is not fixing these issues that keep occuring. These hubs are a complete hassle and very stressful for a new mom trying to feed her baby. The smart component would be great if the app didn't glitch every so often, but more importantly if the hub would correctly track pumping. Continuously being told the bottle is full and the hub pausing makes pumping longer and more stressful. Even when the bottle is less than half full I run into this issue. Sometimes instead of pausing, the whole pump powers off! Unacceptable! How can I control the pump remotely if it turns off? In addition to this they are constantly losing connection with the app! What a HASSLE. Responsiveness is nice when it switches modes, but again, the bottle full detection is far off! To say the least, I am disappointed, stressed, furious, and unsatisfied. With multiple attempts at searching for help from Elvie customer service with no success and being advised by doctors to stop my use of this product before I cause permanent damage, I find myself out of hundreds of dollars. I have tried many times to make these pumps work, truly. How can I return these and get my money back? I am over the pain and stress. I would simply like to feed my child without pain, discomfort, stress, or permanent damage.

Do yourself a favor and buy this!
Update: I had some issues with my first pump but was able to easily replace through Amazon. My current pump had some leaking issues and I reached out to the Elvie customer service and they're sending me a replacement bottle. Couple things to note, as other reviews have mentioned: The app is terrible. Really terrible. Measurements are incorrect, it's glitchy, doesn't save some sessions. I've learned you can't turn the hub off until you actively "save" your session otherwise it freaks out...even turning one hub off makes it do this. Measurements are typically off, but you are able to edit the amounts before you save the session, so you can get an accurate track of how much you've pumped. Random dates added to history- this one is where the glitchy part comes in. You go to view your history and then see dates like September 4,1953 on there. The app randomly adds dates. It pauses when you've pumped around 4oz, even though the max for the bottle is 5oz. Removed a star for all the listed things above I can't say enough about this pump. After 2 days of using my insurance provided pump, I said F this and pulled the trigger to buy the Elvie. The best decision I have made. I'm no longer a slave to my pump. I can do tasks, walk around and am free from sitting on the couch due to pumping. Now let's get one thing straight, you can't do gymnastics with these things. So the people complaining about leaks from movement, c'mon. Let's use our brains, it's still a pump and it's still liquids we are talking about here. I'm careful with my movements and bending down and have never had a problem with leaks. It does take some time to get used to latching it on correctly, but once you do, it's a quick snap and you're on with your day. It is pricey, but worth every single penny, especially since you can use FSA.

Great for busy moms and on the go!
Iโm a very busy mom of three juggling distance learning and taking care of all of my SAHM duties. My youngest is 9 month is exclusively breast fed along with actual food just no formula. She constantly attached to me and being busy having to sit down to feed her and then pump for extra time is just in the cards for me. I had a different pump which works great the spectra 2 but I couldnโt do anything but sit, and when you have a million things to do sitting is not an option. Another reason I decided to try Elvie was I could now allow my husband to help and bond by feeding when I needed a break or while making dinner or in the evening. I can pump while doing dishes or the laundry. But what I really enjoy is I can still nurse my 9mo old while Iโm pumping and she doesnโt even get bothered by the pump. My old pump she would tug on and break suction even while wearing a pumping bra. Ease of use: assembly is very simple. There are paper instructions or you can use the app. It instructed me you to put it together when I first got it and how to start my session. The app is easy to set up and connect each time you use it. Features: being able to start the pump manually or through the app is great. I can set a timer change the speed or suction power without having to touch pump if Iโm out. It has a sensors that monitors mild output and surprisingly itโs pretty accurate with little to no adjustment when Iโm finished pumping. Some people said the light was super noticeable but it doesnโt seem to bother me. If you tend have longer pump sessions than the pump can get pretty warm when you go to take it out. Comfort: my first thought was how can this be comfortable? But once you get the hang of placement you barley know itโs there. Itโs not super noticeable but since I purchased the single pump my chest looks a little lopsided, but any mom knows we have days where one breast is much bigger when breast feeding. Cleaning: I read a lot of reviews between Elvie and Willow and this one seem to have better reviews for cleaning. I would have to say that cleaning this one itโs actually easier than cleaning my original pump. I canโt even dry it in the collection container fully before reassembling. You may need a few bottle cleaning tools. I currently use the set of munchkin bottle cleaning tools and a doctor brown brush with a soft scrubbing top. And it is small enough to get into the collection container and clean every little nook and cranny. Since the pump portion cannot be submerged in water you need to make sure to take a wet towel and clean off the seals in the area world the Milk passes into the collection container because it can start to build up there. Mechanical: my first thought was that it was going to be very loud like my original pump. That is one thing that I really like about this pump itโs very quiet and is actually much more comfortable than a traditional pump. Because it is designed to hug your breast itโs not just sucking in your nipple. There are different shields that you can purchase if you need one that is larger than the one that it comes with the one that it comes with is a 24 mm. Which is The standard size for most breast plan on market. Overall I would 100% recommend this pump to anyone who is trying to make their life easier or for someone who is going back to work and exclusively pumping. To a mom whoโs at home running around dealing with crazy children and a house and looking for a way to pump more effectively and efficiently. The only company I have is if the pump is beginning to get full in the reservoir bending over can sometimes make it leak or spill somehow. I havenโt exactly figured out why it would leak when I would bend over because it is sealed very well. That is my only complaint so far. It charges fully in roughly 2 hours when I took it out of the box. And I just plug it in after every session to make sure that itโs charged up. Parts: I love that it comes with two shields so I can pump and not have to clean it right away and have a second to use. It also comes with a carry bag so if Iโm going to be mobile I can bring a clean one with me. I chose to go with a single pump and Iโm glad that Elvie has The option to have a single which is why I ended up landing with them in the end. I had heard good things about the Willow but I also didnโt like how people complain that it was very hard to clean compared to the Elvie who had purchased both pumps. Overall if you do get the single pump or the double I think youโll be happy with your purchase.

Does not work consistently, requires a lot of troubleshooting.
I have a love/hate relationship with this pump. I tried a single pump to start with to see if it would work for me before I went back to work. I had occasional issues with the suction not working that I was able to troubleshoot okay, so I decided to buy a second one so I could double pump hands- free at work. After my first week and a half back at work, I am very frustrated. When both sides work, it's great and makes life much easier (as a $500 beast pump should). However, both sides working at the same time only occurs about 30% of the time. I usually end up having suction issues with one side or the other (does not seem to be specific to the breast or the pump I use). I have read the instruction manual and watched several videos to help troubleshoot the issues. If the suction disc is moist at all- it will not work. If the silicone valve lip is tucked under the opening on the pump- it will not work. If my nipple is aligned incorrectly with lines on the breast shield- it will not work (and yes- I made sure I am using the correct size shield). After making sure all of these potential issues are addressed- I will still often have problems getting the pump to work. A lot of the time I have good suction at the start and get the pump secured in my bra (and yes, I've used different types of bras/and tight undershirts to ensure the pump stays in place), only to lose suction 5, 10, 15 minutes into a pumping session. I have to start and stop multiple times during a pumping session to replace the pump and get the suction working again. Many times after all of this, I just give up and use my manual pump and then curse about the time I just wasted trying to get the Elvie to work on top of time it takes to just manual pump anyways. The one positive I will say is that when the suction does work, it stimulates very well (similar to the way an actual baby would) and I end up having a good amount of expressed milk. I found this aspect of the Elvie to be superior to the Medela pump in style that was covered by my insurance. I am so disappointed this is not working for me consistently because I have read that a lot of women love this product. I think it would be worth the price for me if it worked the majority of time. And even more stressful than wasting the money, I still don't have a hands-free pumping option for work. I have a very busy medical practice and don't have the time to be tethered to a wall or manually pump for 20-30 minutes 3 times per day. I have spent the past week and half back at work stressed out and running behind schedule for my patients, which is not acceptable and is not going to work for the next 9 months I plan on pumping at work. I know I am not the first person to leave this type of review, and I am honestly not sure why this works so well for some women and not others. I wish so much that I was in the group of women it works well for, because the concept and overall design of this product are very impressive. Disappointed, out $500, and searching for another hands-free portable option.

Works with elvie pump
Works well with elvie pump. Easy to put on etc. I have to say though that the parts to elvie pump are very expensive, I donโt think itโs worth the price on the other hand there is no alternatives in case you need a spare one :(
