Nature's Way Heart Care is an extract of the oligomeric procyanidins (which are a kind of bioflavonoid) that are found in Hawthorn. The total amount of the extract itself is 80 mgs per tablet, and the oligomeric procyanidins in each tablet equal about 18.75% of this, or about 15 mgs. per tablet. Since in crude, unprocessed hawthorn, oligomeric procyanidins equal from 1 to 3% of the total weight of hawthorn, 80 mgs of 18.75% extract is equivalent to roughly 500 to 550 mgs of whole, unextracted hawthorn. This is a good supplement, actually, although hawthorn takes a while to work, it is very nourishing to the heart and vascular system. You will see results within a few weeks at 6 tablets per day.

Carmine is red food coloring from dead bugs. Is there really carmine in these?

Yes. If bug parts bother you, don’t use ANY spices or culinary herbs. There are bug parts (and a certain percentage are allowed by the FDA) in all of them. This is highly processed.
