Q: Can you change the head on the drum and on the tenor drum

Of course. In fact throw out the heads that come with it. Those heads are the only thing that makes them sound bad otherwise if you tune it up it sounds awesome. I got our quads close to pearl sound.

Q: does it have the same sound as a pearl or yamaha?

It has a similar sound to a Pearl/Yamaha. When used with other snares, it blends in beautifully.

Q: One of the side screw mounts broke can I get a replacement ?

The replacement parts can be found at your local hardware store. It's your best and least expensive option.

Q: Does this have the proper top and bottom snares and correct hard head?

It comes with a soft clear head for the top head and a clear head for the bottom head. There are only 22 bottom snares..usually for maruching band they have 42 bottom snares and a hard head on top. You can buy those separately about $20 each.

Decent drum when it was $199, with some work and extra money, too much now.

S is a good lesser quality drum. When it was $199 it was worth it. I would not pay $290 for this drum. First you have to replace grads immediately, because the ones on it deny right away. Useless. Make sure all screws are checked daily as they just simply fall off.The side metal piece broke and waiting for manufacturers to send a new one. They are decent drums with some work. For $199 it was a great deal, now not so much. Here's a picture. They look and sound great with new heads tightened as much as you can without breaking wooden core. Careful.
