Fantastic hot skillet
I endorse everything about this skillet. It heats up fast, cooks all meats tender and even gets hot enough to sear meats! It’s works for slow cooking, a fryer and skillet all in one. It even steams!! I have had my first one for several years and everything is still functioning perfectly. I love the ease of this skillet so much that I purchased a second one a couple years after my first because I often cook multiple things at the same time for my family. I rarely use my stovetop now. The titanium ceramic pans have held up great. The pans clean up so easily that most of the time I wash by hand. I wait for them to completely cool (as you need to do with all ceramic cookware) and then simply rinse them out and give them a light hand wash. I have occasionally placed the pans in the dishwasher top rack after cooking heavy fat meats in them and haven’t had any deterioration in the pans coating. **Note with ceramic cookware you want to let the pan completely cool before adding any water to it or even rinse them. They do also recommend avoiding the dishwasher do to the harsh detergents used in the dishwasher however I have done this numerous of times with these pans and haven’t had any adverse results. The company has great customer service and offers resources to order replacement pans/parts. I ordered an additional shallow pan for the safety of gluten allergy to have a dedicated food allergy pan. Go ahead and purchase this, you won’t regret it.

Hot Pot Heaven
I only use this for hot pot, but when dorming in college I ate many a meal cooked in this type of device by a friend. With that said, I haven't personally used it to cook eggs, vegetables, beef etc., although knowing how it works I can say it is an outstanding piece of equipment that is capable of pretty much doing every thing you would need short of being an oven. You can fry, you can steam, you can boil etc. It it is big or wide enough to do more than one thing at one time. If you are a college student that likes to cook, but doesn't have a stove this would be ideal. Very awesome indeed. I primarily use it for hot pot. The temperature is easy to control and responds very quickly to your selection. I didn't think I would like it being so wide and shallow because most hot pots that I have used are deep. There is a benefit to it being wide. 1. It heats faster because the heating area is wider. 2. You don't have to dig trying to find something. 3. It allows for you to spread out or strategically place your items in the pot vs. just throwing them into the abyss. 4. It is not crowded when eating and resulting in no chopstick fights between table mates. I didn't think I would like it because of how wide it is, but as you can see there are advantages. I must also say that even though it is shallow compared to the average hot pot, it probably holds more volume because of its width. If you fill it up, it will be enough for at least 4 people. Zojirushi makes excellent products. This is yet another one. *Update* May 2, 2014 It has been several years since I reviewed this product. Everything is still working fine. I did manage to break the lid while moving and it cost roughly $50 to replace. Note to self...lid will not survive fall down flight of stairs. However that is not why I am writing this update. I just found out today that this product makes very good POPCORN. Sure you can do it an any old pan, but this where it being super wide and having a glass lid comes in handy. Just melt a little butter on low then throw in the seeds, crank up the heat and put the lid on. Voila. I can't believe I didn't try this before. I certainly didn't buy it to make popcorn, but darn this product just continues to amaze.

Handy Cooker/Skillet/Slow Cooker
I've only used mine 3 or 4 times, so I cannot comment on durability. I've had other Zojirushi items and so had high expectations of this. So far I haven't been disappointed in the least. Positives + Removable cooking "pans." Easy to wash. Easy to transport from cooking area to table or refrigerator. +Two pans. Shallow pan for bacon, eggs, pancakes or whatever. Deeper pan for pot roast, soups, stews, traditional Asian dishes, whatever. We've got a roast in the deep pan-refrigerated-tonight, but I can cook breakfast in the other tomorrow morning. +Even heating. Whenever I cook bacon on the stovetop I am careful to cycle slabs from center to edge and back to get each evenly done. This in spite of using a good quality thick gauge skillet. Not needed with this. The pans are pretty light weight, but the cooking disk that stays with the base distributes heat very evenly. +Longer cord than most. Like just about all appliances the user is cautioned not to use an extension cord. There are entanglement issues and the like but I am personally comfortable using a good quality cord of 14 gauge (or better, 12 gauge). 1350 watts is less than 12 amps at 120 volts. Most surge protectors are 15 amps and many are long enough to serve as an extension cord. But you just may not need it in the first place. +Temperature control slider that is easy to adjust and spread out enough you can learn position well enough to be repeatable. You can adjust it with one hand without holding the pot steady. But consider negative, below: Negatives: -For many--Made in China. -The temperature slider is easily adjustable, perhaps easy to inadvertently adjust. Update: 22 March 2016. I really like using this. I fry bacon, eggs, stir fry, pancakes--you name it. Heat is evenly distributed and temperature is repeatable. Cleanup is super easy. Exception: If you get food outside the removable pan it falls into a relatively inaccessible "groove" that is hard to get at. If the inner bowl were removable this would be better. So far I've been able to clean whatever fell in just using the corner of a dishrag. I mainly use the shallow insert, but I've made stew using the deeper pan. Did I say I really like this?

Zojirushi has been a very trustworthy brand since my mother's age. And I grew up using zojirushi brand. Yet, it can be quite expensive. We have tried using the deeper pan for hot pot several times already. And my partner and I love it so much. It heats up very quickly and the pan is easy to clean. We are planning to use the shallower pan for sukiyaki. We totally recommend this brand and this model, especially for those families who have tiny kitchens.
