A translation of Abu Shuja' al-Asfahani’s introduction to classical Islamic law, Matn al-Ghayat wa al-Taqrib . This enduring classic covers the full range of basic topics within the Shafi'i school of law. It includes the full Arabic text and notes to point out where later Shafi'i jurists have differed from the author, Imam al-Nawawi's preferences, and minor clarifications and explanations. Review: Much needed translation - I thank the author and the team for their work. Review: Introductory text for shafii fiqh - A complete introductory text of Shafii fiqh. Very useful for any seeker of knowledge. I would recommend reading this with a teacher. These texts are invaluable!

Does what it says on the tin - An excellent translation with minimal commentary
I gave this book 4 stars because I would have liked to see some explanatory notes from the translator. However, I believe the author's intent was for this work to be read with a teacher trained in the Shafi'i school. In this case, his translation is a perfect introductory text for novice students.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently acquired "The Ultimate Conspectus" by Musa Furber from Amazon, and it has truly enriched my recent lessons with the esteemed Shaykh Gibril. This exceptional work serves as a translation of Abu Shuja' al-Asfahani’s introduction to classical Islamic law, Matn al-Ghayat wa al-Taqrib. What sets this book apart is its comprehensive coverage of fundamental topics within the Shafi'i school of law. It not only presents the full Arabic text but also provides invaluable notes. These notes highlight areas where later Shafi'i jurists have diverged from the author's stance, elucidate Imam al-Nawawi's preferences, and offer minor clarifications and explanations. As a student eager to delve deeper into Islamic jurisprudence, I found "The Ultimate Conspectus" to be an indispensable resource. Its meticulous attention to detail, combined with Musa Furber's lucid translation, has significantly enhanced my understanding of Shafi'i fiqh. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone interested in exploring the intricacies of Islamic law. It serves as a beacon of knowledge, guiding students and scholars alike on their journey of learning and enlightenment. The dedicated efforts of Brother Musa Furber, as a translator, in serving the ummah with a range of important Islamic texts, are truly invaluable contributions to the cause of Islam (da'wah). His commitment to translating works like this, making them accessible to English speakers, is commendable beyond measure. May Allah shower His blessings upon him. Ameen.
