A More Excellent Way, Be in Health: Spiritual Roots of Disease, Pathways to Wholeness (w/DVD)

This book - based on the 25 years of experiential ministry of God's direction in the "Be in Health ministry" of Pastor Henry Wright is truly life changing! (MAKE SURE YOU GET THE 2009 Copywrited latest edition with DVD!!) This book is filled with Scripture (not just references)and your spiritual eyes are opened as you consider - again - MANY familiar scriptures that you may not have really understood, in a new light as God's Spirit is let to work in your heart, mind and soul. The 120 pages in the back of the book of incredible testimonies of how God has worked in lifes to bring many people to whole health - from so called "Incurable Diseases" is mind boggling - Praise God! (And the attached overview DVD is great) His teachings are based on God's Word, God's Plan for us and our need to go one on one with God and His word - to seek the reason / cause of our disease / affliction in the first place and not just "manage the symptoms." There are "Spritual Blocks" in our lifes and "Spritual Generational issues" that we must seek help from God and His Word to Find, Renounce, and Repent from that we may trully be reconciled to God and His Will for you - many of these maybe Relationship issues, or spirits of bitterness, unforgiveness, not loving ourselves etc. His premise that a high percentage of disease is caused by relationship issues is right on and very creditable. I have myself, purchased 15 copies of this book so far and given them to family and friends.. Knowledge equals Responsibility! - This book and our resultant trip to Thomaston, Ga. to go through the Be in Health Ministries 50 hour "For your life" Seminar has greatly helped us in God's path in our battle with my wife's Multiple Myeloma - and other health issues - we have seen much progress in our path for her total healing of God from M/M. This book has literally changed my life!! My mindset is in a state of continual renewal with everything that I’m learning about the physical body and the spirit and how so many things like fear, unforgiveness, self-pity, anger, feeling unloved, resentment, being separated from GOD and so much more affects our health. Our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health. I was first introduced to ‘Exposing the Spiritual Roots of Disease,” by the same author. It’s more of a beginner’s guide that gives you general info. “A More Excellent Way “ is so much more detailed but don’t get me wrong they are BOTH thought provoking and life changing pieces of literature. I would say get both. Get ALL of his books! I actually experienced healing by applying what I learned from these books. I had allergies really bad. I tried several medications that worked at first, for about two months and then just stopped working. I use to cough so bad it felt like I was coughing up a lung. My eyes were constantly watering and the tickle in my throat, if I was talking, would make me have to stop so I could cough. And you know, with COVID going around, any little thing you did people would look at you sideways ☺️. So I would try to hold it in to no avail. One day I was literally in tears asking GOD what was happening to me. At the time I was reading ,”Exposing the Spiritual Roots of Disease.” I came to chapter 6 about allergies and when it mentioned the part about who was suppose to love you but didn’t? And dread and fear being within you because of these experiences. He used the scripture, Proverbs 17:22, A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit driers the bones. He talks about how your bones have marrow on the inside and how the marrow produces red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. And how white blood cells play a vital role in our immune systems. He also talks about how all the systems in your body are connected and our moods, or thought processes can drastically affect how our systems operate. Good or bad. So if we are constantly sending messages to our systems that we hate or fear or dread something we are helping to combat against a healthy immune system. Which without a healthy immune system we are more susceptible to sickness, infection or disease. *Sigh* Of course the book goes into way more detail. And when I began to ask myself questions about feeling unloved or rejected, the answers really knocked me off my feet and started me on a painful journey of the hurt I have experienced and held onto. The journey to releasing the hurt and replacing it with The Truth of GOD’s Word transformed my thinking and has made me whole in THAT area. Still a lot more work to do. I have not coughed, eyes have not watered and throat has not tickled sense I started this journey of renewing my mind. And if ever I feel a lil something try to come against me I recite and think on The Truth of GOD’s Word. This is NOT a gimmick! This is REAL! I implore you to examine yourself before you go spending money and time on something that you have the authority to do yourself. Please understand that EVERYTHING has its place and is useful but before you make that doctor’s appointment, examine yourself! Now, searching yourself and dealing with the things that you have tucked away for years is a sometimes long, painful and a challenging process cause let’s face it, we tuck those things away for a reason but they are not for us to tuck away and carry for years. We are to expose them and rid them from our very being so we can be free to live and love as Christ did. On this journey you’ll also discover things that you didn’t even know you were hoarding. Freedom is work however it IS attainable! With The Holy Spirit’s help, you can be healed and whole IF… YOU DO THE WORK! I truly thank GOD for Dr. Henry Wright! He gives it to you straight accompanied with scripture bringing the natural and spiritual world together. Not just a great read but a life changing one!

Good read, it’s been so long ago, I forgot. But I know I liked it.

I was "led to the Lord" 35 yrs ago. I wasn't looking for a free ticket to heaven. I was a messed up teen in a messed up family (attempted murder, molestation, alcoholism, occultic curses, 4 suicides) and I wanted help for my life. It really helped to have "normal/stable" people in the church to love me and support me as I grew and started my own family. But as the baggage from my past kept sweeping over me like unexpected emotional tsunami's, I found most people in the church, including pastor's and professional counselors had little to offer. I have become distressed in recent years as some destructive behavior I'd observed in my dysfunctional family has become more prevalent in Christian circles. Regardless I still have been looking to God through the Bible and prayer. I am involved in church because I'm wanting to make a difference in the lives of others but I'm not finding the answers to some of my "issues" like chronic fatigue and depression. Now I've been looking for some practical day to day advice and everyone is terrified of taking the Bible too literal because we might become "legalistic". Instead I'm told to pray and ask God for help. After 35 years of feeling like I'm beating my head against a wall, I'm so weary. It's like I keep running into myself and the same baggage time after time after time. I recently had a cancer scare. I recalled that a friend was posting on that "Caring Bridge" blog her 3 yr battle with cancer and decided to contact her. She was actually believing that God would do what he said in the Bible! I asked her if she had any resources to recommend and she highly recommended "A MORE EXCELLENT WAY". The reason I took her advice seriously was because she was posting on her blog how God was convicting her of sin in her life. She and I had invested lots of time together in some projects and I was well aware of these areas but didn't think it appropriate to challenge her. Now to see God at work and her responding had been exciting. She also has just recently received a cancer-free notice from her physician! I read the first chapter of A MORE EXCELLENT WAY here on AMAZON. (There's several places that sell the book so you have to look around for one that has the chapter posted.) It caused to go to bed and pray and weep for 3 hours over the sin of my bitterness. I ordered the book. While I waited for it to arrive, I found their website. [...] There I found a link to 10 video sessions that are 30 minutes long from a conference they held. Here's the link to them if you're interested: [...] I've been listening to these every chance I can and I'm hoping to get over by Atlanta GA to their headquarters to get some help with my family "baggage". My husband wants to join me but has some commitments to attend to first. I'm thinking about taking advantage of their phone counseling to help me in the meantime. I'm about 100 pages into the book. I have memory problems so I find reading discouraging. For now I listen to the videos every chance I can. I'm also actively seeking to change from dwelling on fearful thoughts and deliberately thinking on Bible verses about God's love and faithfulness. THAT'S A HUGE CHANGE! I've got more energy and hope than I've had in a long time. Also, I got a good report from the oncologist when my gynecologist thought I had metastatic ovarian cancer. My 2 kids are 17 and 21. They have a boatload of illnesses and emotional challenges. I suspect it's those tsunami's from my heritage pouring in their direction as well. Henry Wright actually seems to understand and know what to do about it. 4 BIBLE VERSES that have been especially insightful to me after becoming familiar with this books teaching: 3John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and BE IN HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth. 1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and BODY BE PRESERVED BLAMELESS unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore CHOOSE LIFE, that both thou and thy seed may live: 1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but PERFECT LOVE CASTETH OUT FEAR: because FEAR HATH TORMENT...

This book is like an encyclopedia (for those that are old enough to remember what that is). There is so much information on "root causes". This book breaks out many conditions of health and the spiritual roots. I would recommend this book for anybody looking to seek spiritual roots over conventional science medicine.

This book includes many good, important, urgent teachings for Christians to read, study and apply; however, I object to some of the statements Wright boldly makes. I also consider the book very poorly written and organized. This is the reason for only three stars. I think there is a more excellent way for Christians to live in this country. It is depressing that so many Christians suffer under sickness and disease or simply accept poor health; concurrently, Christians so often become reliant on doctors and medication to manage disease and look for answers. We see in the New Testament that not only did Jesus heal the sick but that he also gave his disciples authority to heal diseases. The apostolic church was a healing ministry. Christians ought to be pursuing health for themselves and others. Henry Wright has responded by seeking God for healing of his people. He has sought the answer to the question, “Why isn’t the church in health today and effective in the healing of others?” This book is largely his answers to those and similar questions. I think Wright conveys several truths in this book, especially regarding the Christian life. Wright emphasizes the need for Christians to live sanctified and holy lives that reject and repent of sin. He emphasizes the imperative for Christians to live in peace and rest without anxiety or fear. He asserts the Biblical mandate to forgive others. He correlates the failure of people to live according to these Christian virtues with sickness and disease. Stated plainly, Wright exhorts Christians to accept God’s grace and mercy AND to live holy lives according to God’s word. Wright bases his assertions on his interpretation of Scripture and experience in the healing ministry. I think Wright’s attempt to correlate sickness with sin has a solid Biblical basis. Wright repeatedly states that 80% of sickness has a spiritual cause. This reveals the book’s strength and weakness…it states what is a truth for some cases and generalizes it. I think he shows how fear, anxiety, stress and unforgiveness can lead to pain and disease—eventually I think they always will. I think the medical field would back this up. However, there is no authoritative data to assert that 80% of disease has spiritual roots and Wright states it as fact. I don’t object to Wright’s teachings, but I do think he over-generalizes on the connection of sinfulness to diseases. I think he overreaches, too, when he associates ailments with particular diseases in people, even though it is interesting to consider and worth applying to oneself. It might be true for some that diseases are correlational to particular sins. Fear, anxiety, stress and unforgiveness are behind many of the diseases, and these can be found to some extent in many Christians. Wright’s book certainly ought to motivate readers to deal with these with the help of the Holy Spirit and mature Christian counsel. Are they behind all the disease or pain people suffer? It is uncertain. They do not lead to health—that is for sure. Wright does not eschew the care and treatment of the medical community. He shows a good respect for doctors, etc. He is urging readers to take steps spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically to prevent disease in their lives. This book with its plethora of Scripture and anecdotal case studies provides a worthwhile resource for self-examination and spiritual growth. I think it can be helpful to any readers. It needs to be read not as gospel but as a suggestive resource. I applaud many of Wright’s exhortations in the book. This one in particular stands out to me, “I do not see a well Church trying to save a sick world. I see a sick Church trying to save itself. It should be a well Church trying to save a sick world. This is what I see in Scripture.” Amen! The church needs to get well in every way so that it can minister to an unwell world. Wright offers a resource for healing. I could not agree more with Wright’s statement that “The biggest problem I find in the Christian church today is so often Christians do not know the Word of God.” Christians are living self-destructive lives because they fail to live according to God’s word and the way of life. However, I think Wright is wrong to imply that God is actively cursing people today “to the third and fourth generation.” He repeats Exodus 20:5 and Deuteronomy 5:9 many times, as if God is punishing Christians for what their grandparents did. I believe in sin patterns and curses passed down but not that God is actively cursing in the process. We need generational healing, but I think Wright goes too far. He states that if “disease or calamity has come upon your life, then there is a reason for its presence.” He then quotes Proverbs 26:2 (often quoted in the book for various points): “As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless does not come.” This accuses anyone who is sick or suffers an accident of deserving it due to sin. Wright avoids the reality that we all live in a fallen world where sin is prevalent and Satan and his kingdom are active. The reason does not always lie in the behavior or heart of the individual as Wright states and implies. My main criticism is not with the content but with the organization and structure of the writing. The book could be more efficient and more precise. Wright is often redundant and unorganized. He paraphrases entire Biblical texts almost verbatim before printing the entire text. I think the book may have been written piecemeal and with seminar transcripts. It could use an editing overall. It contains about 100 pages of testimonies that could also be pared down and edited better. I also object to a point Wright makes in overstating the differentiation between the persons of the Trinity. I don’t think the Father is angry if one of his children addresses a prayer to Jesus for healing rather than to himself.

This talks about the roots behind diseases and the way to get healed.All disease is a curse.This book is about 1 inch thick. Here is a sample part of the book on Victimization pg 41 Conflict resolution- You do not have to resolve one issue with someone who has victimized you in order for god to heal you. If you are waiting for resolution between the other person and before you can be well, you have brought the biggest lie you have ever bought.This would be tying you back to the tragedy,back to victimization back to break down. God hasent given us the spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind.Fear is not an emotion but it is a spirit that needs to be driven out and its not from god. 43 Victimization-How do you honor parents when they constantly "beat you up" in some manner? There are many people condemned by scripure, you are to honor your mother and father. Mathew 19:19-Honor your mother and father then youll have a long life. You only have to honor your mother and father or anyone to the degree they honor god.If you have a mother or father who are evil before god,you do not have to honor them in their evil.But, you cannot touch them either.You do not have to go along with their sin. Mark 9:42 But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone hung around your neck. Some people tell me I just do not want to talk about what my mother did to me or my father did to me because its not honoring them. No, this is not about honoring them, it is just defining the evil.You do not have to honor the evil in parents.We cannot afford to preach a gospel that produces CODEPENDENCY to with evil.My definition of Codependency is calling evil good, in the name of love. However the first thing you need to do it separate you from THEIR SIN.You must always have a perfect hatred for evil. Pure religion and undefiled is to visit the fatherless,take care of the widows in their afflictions and keep yourself undefiled from the world. james 1:27 You do not have to violated in your spirit anymore and you do not have to be cursed in it or guilty in it.God did not ask anyone or anywhere to be a victim in any reason.

Our modern American medical system treats the body like a machine, with little to no consideration of the emotional, mental, and spiritual causes of disease. While germs and viruses and colds that come and quickly go are "common to all men," and some illnesses clearly have physical causes, it is true that most of the "incurable, chronic" diseases have a spiritual root that make our bodies susceptible to them. Most people want to tell you about their physical diseases and ask for prayer, but most do not want to discuss their spiritual "sicknesses." However, this book reveals the spiritual sickness behind the physical sickness, and points to a path of healing based upon dealing with our spiritual issues first. This is for the spiritually mature who are willing to look at themselves honestly, not for those who want an excuse or someone to blame. There is good, sound, basic physiological explanations that explain the links between our spirit, soul, and body here. Many "testimonies" of those who have found healing where modern medicine has failed them are included in the appendix. There is a comprehensive index which allows you to quickly find any references to a particular disease in which you are interested; however, I strongly recommend that you read this book from the beginning, slowly, taking time to meditate on the Scriptures given, Each concept progresses logically upon the one before, and you will need time to let the truth resonate with you. Do not skip ahead and prejudge it without following the Biblical teaching in the logical order in which it is given. This is truly a life changing book that has helped me more than any other "self help" or natural healing book I have ever read. I have given several copies of this book as gifts, and one I gave to my pastor resulted in him sharing this teaching with many in our congregation, resulting in many healings. There is much light here - - read it and be blessed.

Very interesting read.

This is a book that every church minister and everyone who minister's God's word, ought to read. The knowledge in this book and the understanding and application of scripture makes for compelling reading. Healing of the faithful who are ill is quite an emotive topic because so many who are prayed for don't get healed. Why is that? The book examines the root causes of many diseases, the connection between ill health and spiritual ill health. The amazing aspect of the book is the countless testimonies of people who have been healed through the ministry within this book. No gimmicks, no tv evangelism stuff, just straight forward scripture teaching and application. This will transform the way churches view their healing ministry.

Thought I will not be able to get it during the pandemic but by the grace of God received it wonderfully on time in my hands.
