THETA SC2

Ricoh? Who is that? Well, they produced the excellent 360 digital camera that I recently purchased. They also made the processor used in the original Nintendo (among other things). I already have a Chinese branded 360 camera that I purchased a few years ago. It was great however it had a few flaws. The battery life was not too great. The app was a little difficult to use and it was full of glitches. For some unknown reason, many of my photos and videos were not saved on the micro SD card. I guess that means that my old 360 camera was not so great. Now lets look at my new Ricoh Theta SC2. I decided on the blue color, mainly because I like blue. White would have also been nice but I didn't know if I would get it dirty. When I removed it form the packaged is that it was nice smooth look BUT it has some type of magical coating that is not slippery. When I hold it, it doesn't feel as slippery as my iPhone. The Theta SC2 is mainly operated by a single button placed over an OLED screen that indicates the operating modes: photo, video, wifi, etc. There is a power button on the side that glows when the unit is on. There is also a wifi button, mode button, and timer button. If you connect the Theta SC2 to your phone through wifi or bluetooth, you can also operate it through the app. Speaking of the app, it is extremely user friendly. It quickly transferred my pictures and video from the Theta unit to my iPhone's internal storage. Guess what? It actually saved all of my photos and videos! There were no lost vacation memories for me this time! I can view the 360 images or video using my phone's screen. You can also transfer pics to social media. I will probably do that in a month because I am quite bad at uploading pics in a timely fashion. The battery life seems to last pretty long. I didn't have to charge it during the day. Also it includes 14GB of onboard storage (no SD card) and I feel like this is more than enough. If I was on vacation for a week, maybe I would have transferred the pictures to my phone at the end of the day just to make sure I had enough memory for the next day. I received many compliments on my 360 camera on my recent trip to Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disney. I thought people would comment on my cool Adidas X Star Wars shoes but they liked the Ricoh Theta more. Oh well... I like the camera too!

Being a real estate photographer, we needed something that could do 3d tours and floor plans. It works perfectly with the Zillow app and it creates exactly what we need with the quality of photos we need! Super excited about this product and it works well!!! It doesn’t even give that funky fish eye look to which I despise so much! Great product !!!!! My real estate agents loves that we can do extra parts to our services we provide !!!

It does not take stunning HD photos like some of the more expensive options, but it works great for it's value. We use it at our construction sites for documentation in each room/area and it has been super useful. Be very careful with the lenses though as they stick out proud of the camera frame and can be the first thing to touch other surfaces if not handled carefully. The only negative for the camera, and hence the 4 stars, is that the camera's base firmware out of the box does not work well with iOS 14 and up. It will have a spotty connection with the iPhone and will constantly say cannot connect with camera even though it is. The camera needs to be updated to it's newest firmware in order to work with iPhone's iOS 14 and up. If you are lucky enough to get the camera to connect to the phone long enough, then the camera can be updated from the phone. Otherwise, the updated has to be done from your computer. It is not Ricoh's issue per say since it was Apple's upgrade that caused the issue, but it would be nice for Ricoh to at least explain that or make that clearer to customers as I would have never known that solution without Googling the issue.

I have two Ricoh Theta 360 cameras. This one is more affordable and it works about the same as the more expensive one. I got these to do 360 degree home tours. It works fine. I did buy a tripod adapter so that I can charge it while I'm using it because the battery life can't always handle how much/long I'm using it. The colors are beautiful.

I use this camera for listing rentals on Zillow etc It works great for uploading to their website. The app is easy to navigate and the photos make the places look awesome. Really gets those 360 shots and panoramas that your cellphone won’t get. Seems pretty durable. The price? It’s a little high but it’s money well spent if you get your place looking great and it rents fast right? Don’t forget to purchase a tripod at the same time. Pretty hard to use without one.

Glitches and takes seconds to load up camera view, there a delay.

I use this cam to add other content to my You Tube channel. One you get past the learning curve to edit in post it pretty incredible. On board stabilization could be better and no micro SD storage is a bummer but the price point evens out. Good cam to get into 360 filming

While there's more expensive models from the same manufacturer, this product worked very well for my 3D house tour projects. It was fairly simple to connect to my iPhone, my first 3d tour session was finished in just 15 minutes. Before you hit the site, I recommend you study the manual and connect the unit to your phone in advance so you can start shooting 3D panoramas there immediately. Great panoramas. I recommend this product.

The box wasn't sealed and when I opened it the camera and cables wern't in the palstic bags, the bags were at the bottom of the box ripped open. Lasty the unit is dead, won't even turn on. :(

Qualität der Bilder und das erstellte Stitch-Ergebnis (Zusammensetzung beider Einzelaufnahmen zu einem Kugelpano) überzeugt. Auch die einfache Bedienbarkeit spricht für dieses Modell. Das 3x so teure Spitzenmodell aus der Theta-Serie kann hingegen seine 60 Megapixel nicht in zusätzliche Bildschärfe umsetzen, da die Objektive nicht besser sind. Positiv ist auch die Langzeitbelichtung zu bewerten, da sie sogar den Sternenhimmel einer mondlosen Nacht überzeugend darstellen kann. Dann zeigt sich allerdings der Abfall der Abbildungsleistung am Bildrand der beiden Fisheye-Objektive in der Übergangszone beider Einzelaufnahmen: Dort sind Sterne dann zu Strichen verzerrt. Die Himmelsdrehung spielt hingegen selbst bei maximaler Belichtungszeit von 60sec noch eine untergeordnete Rolle. Das schlanke Gehäuse dieser kleinen und leichten überall-dabei Kamera überzeugt und verschwindet aus den Kugelpanobildern völlig. Auch die beiden Smartphone-Apps Theta und Theta+ sind leicht bedienbar, nur von der Windows-Version hätte ich mir mehr an Funktionalität erwartet. Die einzig wirkliche Schwäche: Die WLAN-Verbindung zum Smartphone reißt bisweilen öfter ab, obwohl die Kamera sich in unmittelbarer Nähe befindet.

I've been using theta camera's from 5 yrs, this one is overall good in performance , images are better and sharp, battery life is good when taking pics, best part of the camera is light weight and colorful. best budget friendly camera you can get by theta.

Appena è arrivata pur non sapendo niente di videocamere a 360°, ci ho smanettato subito per comprendere almeno le basi di come si fanno i video e le foto, perché devo confessare che ero preoccupato dalle recensioni che dicevano che i video risultavano troppo sgranati. Infatti da una ricerca sui soliti canali i video che ho visto fatti con Theta SC2 non erano effettivamente un granché. Mi ero anche documentato sulla più costosa Insta 360 One X2 come alternativa e in pratica mi stavo già preparando a restituire immediatamente la videocamera Ricoh. Invece quando l’ho provata sono rimasto sorpreso che i video che ho fatto in giornata anche negli interni, risultavano ancora perfettamente godibili e luminosi anche sul monitor del computer. Grande! Per dire la verità anche il livello superiore della Ricoh Theta V 360 non mi aveva entusiasmato come qualità video, sì magari un po’ meglio, ma nulla di che, e in certe occasioni nemmeno la tanto decantata Insta 360 One X2 non mi aveva fatto gridare al miracolo. Sì è vero, 3 minuti di video 360 anche se in 4K non sono molti, ma già così occupano più di un Gb! Più lunghi occuperebbero montagne di memoria e sarebbero difficili da gestire x i social. Quindi per questa entry level sono contentissimo e me la tengo, mi ci sono subito affezionato e mi piace in tutto, colore, fattura, prestazioni, pure l'audio è buono anche se mono! La telecamera è stabilizzata e non produce effetti di ondeggiamento se applicata sul manubrio di moto, bici, monopattino... L'unico problema è che sono diventato pazzo x capire come mettere video a 360° su FB e YouTube xchè l’applicazione nativa Ricoh Theta caricava solo video anche se compressi di soli 5 Mg! Ma si può?? Quindi x tenervi la telecamera Ricoh 360 SC2 qui sotto ci sono le istruzioni: 1) Come consiglio io farei video solo di 1 minuto che sono già 400 Mg 2) comprimete il video con HandBrake con estensione MP4, così arriva a 66 Mg "HandBrake: Downloads" 3) adesso dovete scaricare "360 Video Metadata" per iniettare nel file compresso del punto 2) gli elementi per vedere il reale video sferico su Fb e YouTube "Create panoramic 360 video - Ecdesign - ECDESIGN 3D FLOOR PLAN AND ROOM DESIGN SOFTWARE" 4) ora il file iniettato è pronto x essere editato sui social con vera estensione a 360°! Spettacolo! Buone riprese e condivisioni!
