This Licorice Has it All Going On
I love black licorice, and this one is irresistible. It has a hard candy shell, think and crisp, that gives it the white coloring. Inside is sweet, rich black licorice, with a soft minty center. It sounds like it wouldn't work, but it does! Great flavor, great mouth feel from the multiple textures. The licorice flavor comes through the most strongly, and the mint leaves a refreshing aftertaste. I really can't get enough.

I have waited for soooooooo long!
Schoolkrit is beyond delicious. It has an almost buttery expression of pure licorice flavor that once tasted, instantly turns into an addiction that finishes the bag. Suddenly you realize that you have just consumed the last piece, and a cold, long stare at an empty bag that you have waited years for, becomes unbearable. A long nap is the only solution. The only drawback (aside from finite quantities), is gluten. My rheumatoid arthritis in both knees flared, I could barely walk for nearly a week, so I will need to confine my consumption. Damn you, gluten!!At least I 'm not in Holland where I would have to walk past rows of vending machines selling every conceivable type of licorice in every train station. In 2012, I filled a carry on suitcase with bags (huge bags!) of Schoolkrit at the duty free shop upon return to the States. I think half of it actually landed (still in the bag) ;p

The taste was just as I remember in my childhood .
The taste was just as I remember in my childhood ....and I'm in my 70's. I left Holland at age 10, and this candy brought back so many memories. Glad they didn't change the recipe!......I forgot to mention the licorice taste is very pleasant and mild, slightly sweet and chewy, most anyone would enjoy this.

Crisp candy shell, soft & chewy center, unique licorice taste
It's impossible to eat just one of these treats. I love black licorice, but don't care for types that are especially hard or a lot of work to chew. These have just the right balance of crisp shell, soft center, and chewy licorice.(Incidentally, several reviews mention a lead warning. My bag (summer 2020) did NOT have a California lead warning on it. A quick online search shows that there was a problem with licorice containing blackstrap molasses several years ago, but I couldn't find any current warnings. )

Phenomenal taste
I LOVE LOVE Licorice. These were delish, canโt wait to reorder. Great for licorice lovers. Pure, good quality black licorice. This does not disappoint. Love the crunch factor of the white coating. I could not stop eating!!

The real schoolkrijt -- just curious about the weight
Good stuff, just the way I remembered it from "over there". There's also an imitation product with polar bears on the bag, which is not as good (in my not humble opinion). Only Schoolkrijt is the real deal.Too bad it has to be imported because that makes it more expensive than it should be. With shipping, it came out to $15.48 for two bags, which is either $20.99 per lb -- or $23.10 per lb, depending on which label you believe. Sorry, but 152 grams does not equal 5.9 ounces.

chalk of joy
If you have never had these, prepare yourself for a weird taste in your mouth of powder, mint, licorice and a hint of something you have no idea what it is. They also become foamy as I chew them. I rather find them wonderful, but can't eat too many at a time. I like to alternate these with other types of licorice, when I am eating them.

Strong flavor, exactly as expected
I ordered this as a gift, and it went over great. They enjoy licorice, I don't. But we tried it together, and it is exactly as described in other reviews. Hard shell, string licorice flavor, soft interior, then a bit of saltiness. The value is great, too. No way you can eat a bunch of these at once, so they will last for a while. Expiration was over a year out.

Excellent old style mint coated licorice
A little pricey but sooo good. Takes me back in time. Better pricing on bigger weights

Elite form of licorice comfit
These are lovely. Like an elite licorice comfit. The licorice itself is not too sweet but very tastey, with a good firm texture but not too hard. The outer coating is crisp (not as hard as a licorice comfit) with a thin soft inner layer which tastes of licorice too but with a slightly bitter taste. It compliments the soft licorice perfectly.. Each sweet is about 1 inch long.. really nice, if you love licorice you are in for a treat
