what type of metal is the blade made out of?

7Cr17MoV. Very similar to 440A with a bit of vanadium. Not nearly as good as 440C.

Anyone found a suitable replacement clip for this sheath or even a replacement sheath? I have 2 and both clips broke but they were terrible anyway.

You could buy a steel 4 hole replacement clip on Amazon. Search for belt clips and you'll find holster replacement clips. You may have to file off the remaining part of the clip and drill a couple of holes but I think you'll be happy with replacement.

How do you lace the hardened case with the chain they send?

The ball chain is for wearing as a neck knife. The two holes at the very top of sheath, come in from one side through one hole, go out the opposite side through the next hole, hook chain together and slip around neck.

Ok, good for you but mine and another brother on here broke and we need a replacement clip for the sheath, so unless you have helpful answer to that we don’t care that you don’t have the same problem.
