Really great replacement
I bought this as a replacement for our VaVa monitor that had broken; this was cheaper than replacing the parent monitor I needed. I’ve been using it about it and I have to say I’m impressed! The screen is bigger, it has a very clear image, and great signal (I have barely needed the antenna which I needed all the time on the VaVa). It’s easy to use, the battery lasts me all day and I sleep with it plugged in but turned on, and feels really durable especially compared to the VaVa. It is slightly louder, even on the lowest setting and the only downside in comparison is that the sound doesn’t toggle between cameras like the VaVa. You have to pick which screen to listen to. My kids are in the same room, so it’s not a huge deal for me, and I did read you can turn on some kind of scanning mode where it will monitor for sounds between both cameras and turn on the screen even but I have not tried it.

10/10 read this if you are debating.
I don't normally write reviews, but I assume since this is my second one I'm buying that I should finally write a review, so here it goes. I have tried three different brands of baby monitors including this one. I got the baby sense for the first time over 3 years ago after the first brand had issues after 6months and I didn't really like it anyways. The parent unit finally died on the babysense after 3y of abuse. I was not pacient enough to do another order so I ran down to a big box store and bought a comparable $$ VTech two baby camera kit. Not thinking much of it that it's going to do the job and the convenience of getting it now was worth it. Oh boy was I wrong and mad. Not only did it force me to connect to Wi-Fi even though it said it worked direct connect but it didn't recommend actually staying on direct connect. I switched it over to Wi-Fi and the quality was just awful, everything about it was awful at the same price point. Plus I don't like baby monitors forcing to be on Wi-Fi or being smart because after working in tech for over a decade they're not safe. I don't want video surveillance of my children going through the internet being on the cloud being in a company's data PERIOD. So ended up buying another baby sense pro with two cameras. Got it delivered in 2 days out of the box worked great. Super easy to pair. The other two cameras that I had from the last one paired up to the new parent unit so quick and easy. So now I have four cameras versus two and I couldn't be happier and I'm not going to get or try another brand again. So this is me telling anybody that is waffling between what to get for a baby monitor. Get this one - Great video quality. Great sound reaction. Great distance. The cameras work well. Move well. Easy to pair. Clearly easy to expand and get new hardware if you need to. AND it's a closed system no Wi-Fi or app needed so it is SAFE. 10/10 recommend.

Great buys
Great Baby Monitor! Clear video and sound, excellent night vision, and very easy to set up. The connection is stable and reliable and gives us real peace of mind. Works exactly as expected. Highly recommended for new parents!

LOVE this monitor, BUT…
We LOVE this monitor, it’s easy to use, the picture is great both during day and night, BUT it does not work with a sound machine on VOX. Our kiddos sleep with sound machines and even at the lowest sound setting for VOX, the monitor screen and sound activated. We tried moving the sound machines, moving the cameras, playing with the settings on the monitor, and turning the sound machines down. Nothing worked. Wr we’re so disappointed it didn’t work out and we had to return it.

The system works, very well
This is the 5.5 inch full HD set. The two cameras and the monitor unit worked fine out of the box - still working 3 months later. The longest range we've tried is downstairs from upstairs and about 80 feet - no drops or glitches. The IR view, although black and white, is very detailed. The audio pickup is ok. The user interface is practical and easy to learn. It would be nice if there was an on/off switch on the cameras and "led light while on" (if there is, we didn't find it yet). Privacy/security is very important so an encrypted private transmission with no - zero - cloud connection is paramount. Honestly, I'm surprised the cameras, monitor, transmission, and privacy are as good as they are for $179.

Best in It's Price Class
This is an EXCELLENT baby monitor. I've used two others, the Goodbaby and the Kidsneed. The Kidsneed, which is out of prodution, was decent, with a very good screen of 3.5 inchess. But it lost connection repeatedly, several times a day. It regained connection quickly, but so what. I also bought a second Kidsneed and the two cameras interfered with each other, making them drop connection to the monitors. I placed an aluminm shield between them that helped, but they still lost contact. The Goodbaby screen sucked. Washed out in either day or night and very narrow vertical viewing angle. Not really usable. The Prisma is excellent straight out of the box, with no interference bweteen cameras. I say this because several reviewers and others of other units have asked if you can pair one camera with two monitors And no you can't, for valid security reasons. But you can buy two baby monitor setups and get the same effect. With the Prisma you CAN have two monitors in different locations monitoring essentially the same view, with the cameras essentially next to each other. So I'm able to keep an eye on my wife who's disabled if she's in bed in our bedroom and I'm monitoring from our study or from our small bathroom. That's a big deal because it means if she calls for me to help her I can hear her in either location through the separate monitors. For many people this probably it isn't an issue. But for people like us it's a gamechager. The Prmisa image is excellent. Far better than many others and as good as the Kidsneed but much larger. Great saturation and contrast, including at night. Also, it's a wide angle lens , which you can narrow if you need to. Much better than the standard Kidsneed or Goodbaby perspectives. All in all a superior baby monitor.

[SEE UPDATE 11/23/18] A very good value, though it has its quirks
--------------------------- UPDATE 11/23/2018 --------------------------- With the birth of our second child last week, we added a second camera to this monitoring system, and unfortunately this uncovered a major flaw in the way the monitor is programmed. Let me explain. For the 18 months we have used this monitor one of my favorite features has been its "Eco Mode," in which the monitor's screen and speaker are off but turn on as soon as the camera detects noise in your baby's room. You can select from three sensitivity levels for this feature based on on what noise threshold you want to activate the screen. It works beautifully: the monitor stays completely silent until our little one makes noise, then the screen and speaker instantly come to life. You can pair up to four cameras with the monitor, and when you pair additional cameras you have two monitoring options. Option one is to monitor a single camera, in which case you can utilize the Eco Mode I described above. Option two is to have the monitor cycle through the cameras, showing you each one for about ten seconds. Now here's the rub: when you choose this cycling option, Eco Mode is NOT AVAILABLE. This is a HUGE flaw, in my opinion. Now instead of going silent even when no noise is detected, the monitor's screen and speaker stay on CONTINUOUSLY while it cycles through the cameras. There are two problems caused by the lack of Eco Mode with more than one camera. First, because the monitor's screen and speakers are always on, the batteries drain MUCH more quickly. Second, the monitor is always emanating some white noise. Previously it was easy to notice when our little one was rustling because the screen would come to life and the speaker would activate; now, with the screen always on and some white noise coming from the speaker at all times, it is more difficult to notice when the baby starts making noise, unless it's a loud noise like hard crying. I'm really disappointed at losing the Eco Mode when multiple cameras are paired. It was a great feature of this monitoring system, and it's a shame not to be able to use it fully with more than one paired camera. ------------------------ ORIGINAL REVIEW ------------------------ Of all the items we purchased for our baby, the monitor was perhaps the most challenging to select: we couldn't find one stand-out model that had consistently good reviews across the board. We initially purchased a different brand that we thought would be the winner, but it ended up giving out on us after a week. Very disappointing. Then we found this monitor. It was reasonably priced and had fairly solid reviews, so we took a chance. I wouldn't say we love it, but we are very satisfied, especially for the price. It was extremely easy to set up: the camera paired itself to the monitor automatically, so all we had to do was plug in the camera and charge the monitor. The "Eco mode" is nice too -- in this mode the screen stays off until the camera detects sound (baby crying or waking up, for example) and then turns on so you can see what is going on. You can adjust the sensitivity of this mode, which determines how loud a sound must be to activate the screen. Here's what we DO like about this monitor: 1) Simple to set up and operate 2) Good range of operation -- the monitor picks up the camera easily from 3-4 rooms away. 3) Picture quality is fine. No, it's not HD or presentation quality, but it doesn't have to be! We can easily see whether our baby's eyes are open and whether she is moving around or not. 4) Sound quality is pretty good too -- again, more than satisfactory for baby monitor purposes. 5) It does NOT use WiFi, which makes it less of a security concern 6) Two-way sound function is a nice feature (If you press a button on the monitor you can talk to your baby through the camera's speaker. We don't use this feature much, but it's nice to have.) 7) The monitor is very small and lightweight, so it's easy to put anywhere. Yes, this means it has a small screen, but personally I prefer the smallest screen that shows me what I need to see -- anything larger is unnecessarily cumbersome. (Just my opinion!) A few things we do NOT like: 1) The camera's power cord is annoyingly short. Unless your electrical outlet is fairly close to where you want to mount the camera, you will need to use an extension cord. 2) The angle of the camera head is adjustable, but only to a point -- it would be nice if it had more range of motion. If the camera is mounted flush on the wall it won't angle to look at something directly underneath it, so if your baby's crib is against the wall you will need to mount the camera fairly low to aim it at the crib, which means it may pick up only part of the crib (hope this makes sense!). 3) Every time the camera's screen activates it starts with a glowing white image which takes 1-2 seconds to resolve to the live image. Not a deal-breaker, but it is a bit annoying. 4) Battery life is fair, but not great. I wouldn't count on going through an entire day without having to recharge the monitor. Keeping it in "Eco Mode" does help. Bottom line: despite some annoyances this monitor certainly works adequately, and it even holds its own with monitors that are more expensive. We plan to keep it, and we're hoping the company makes additional cameras available for purchase because apparently you can pair more than one camera with the monitor. --------------------------- UPDATE 7/22/2017 --------------------------- Having used this monitor for several weeks now, I wanted to comment on one more feature that we really like. When the monitor is on but in "Eco Mode" (i.e. the screen is off but turns on when the camera detects sound), there is a little green LED light just above the screen which flashes to let you know the monitor is on. We have each had those moments when we look at the monitor and think, "I DID turn that thing on... right?" and the green flashing light confirms that we DID in fact turn it on. A small feature, but one that I didn't realize how much we would appreciate!

Durable monitor
We love this monitor. It’s compact, durable, great picture quality for the price and the fact that it’s not WiFi and has a great picture battery life and ease of use with no need for added apps or anything is a major plus for us. We live in the country, our mailbox is quite the walk down our driveway and the monitor works great, cuts out a little bit behind our coops or in the aviary and that’s a little less distance than our mailbox but the mailbox is only one wall and the coops put 6 walls between where our toddler sleeps on the opposite side of our house, about 90ft working with all the walls is pretty impressive to us. It’ll cut out here and there gathering eggs but I can still catch glimpses until I move back into range, the drive is well over a hundred feet and I bet I could keep going and cross the highway if needed. This is actually our second time buying this exact model because we broke the last one after 20 months but that’s definitely not on the manufacturer, my hands don’t always work the way I want them to so I’m always dropping smaller objects and I’m not the best at making sure our toddler doesn’t get ahold of it, he loves switching the cameras and turning on the music, the 2nd from last loop option with different songs is our favorite and what we use for his quite time before he actually sleeps but is in bed and you can turn on different music for different cameras. The battery life is also really nice. The first 13-15 months I left it on and would watch him sleep because of my own anxieties when it comes to sleeping babies and it would keep going about 4-5hrs before I plugged it in so I wouldn’t risk it shutting down, while I slept, we didn’t use the sound options back then so that might lower the battery life, I’m unsure. Eco mode is what I use now that they’re older and I’m way less paranoid about how they sleep and I’ve only ever had it on for maybe 7hrs before plugging in to be safe but it still has quite the charge left. I’ve fallen asleep on the couch several times and when the battery gets low it beeps and wakes me up but I forget how long it was but it was definitely early morning hours by the time that happened. We plug it in every time they’re awake, it’s kinda our thing, the baby thinks they’ve gotta do it themselves, just like when they get my phone, they go straight to plug it in because mom does that so often, dad’s not so lucky with his phone or the monitor when he gets the baby from bed, it’s automatically play time with either device. Lol We’ve put the first one through the wringer though, battery back just broke 19m in and has been taped for a month and then our toddler had a bit of a tantrum last week and threw it across the floor on hardwood and must’ve dislodged the antenna because we lost a lot of range and the sound was static-y at that point too. It was still doing the job but a bit annoying so I ordered another one and this time I bought an extended warranty that covers this type damage through Amazon. It comes with 18m but not sure what that entails but I did register it. I got the one with one camera because I already had 2 cameras and was planning to order a 3rd one soon anyway because they don’t cover a lot of the room, they can be hung in ways to cover more space but in smaller spaces, like a little nursery, I need multiples up. One for bed only and one for the other side of the room and now one for the door since they can’t be in a crib or P&P any more because of climbing out. I still like one for bed only and a little closer so I can use the zoom to watch breaths or subtle movements, because that’s just how I am, so the other two are for when they’re moving around and I’m not concerned about moving or not. The cameras aren’t perfect, not by a long shot but they do the job and I see what I need to see without messing around with WiFi, which is very important to a lot of people, but we have multiple reasons why we needed non WiFi, we don’t have internet access out here plus we don’t want anyone else watching our baby. The night vision works really well and that’s a huge plus since both of ours have been sensitive sleepers and need darkness to sleep. The price is right and if you have a NB the one camera will work fine for you for awhile then additional cameras, up to 4, but rotating screens not split so can work for multiple rooms with different music, are around $30ish. That still leaves this monitor well below the cost of other good models. If you’re looking for an affordable easy to use monitor with a great range and battery life but don’t need all those unnecessary apps or have to give up a phone or other device just to watch your baby, I highly recommend this monitor. It’s so simple yet has some great features seen in more expensive models. My baby even talks to me and signs over the camera since I made sure they knew I could see them all the time. Not the best picture added here since the blanket is pulled up and all the stuffies they drag in bed for nap time but I can see everything I need to see. I still can’t believe how long it took me/us to break this thing, it kind of reminds me of the old school sound only monitors I used with my teen before video was affordable for everyone, hard to believe something with a screen took so many falls/tumbles/throws/missed pockets etc to finally break it just enough where I wanted a new one but still technically could have kept using it, just leaving it set up in certain areas where connections were still available. It’s not fancy but it’s a nice small box with a very good quality picture for the price point and it definitely takes a beating from my arthritis ridden hands that don’t always grip the way they should and a toddler that’s fully in the stage where they can’t quite communicate effectively but talk all the time and throw tantrums when they’re not getting the point across stage. The sound is the white noise we use but it’s not the camera, it’s a different machine since I’m using mid eco mode and camera sound does turn the screen on but not other white noise from fans and such. My baby will knock or talk when they wake up to turn off eco, because we’ve played with the monitor together to teach the concept, we started doing this early on so they know they can look around and find the little green light and communicate with me at anytime to any camera. I’ve seen complaints about the light on them but they’ve helped us help our baby learn to self soothe from just months old, knowing we were there even when not. I originally did the bundle with the movement detection alarm for Sid’s safety but never did get to try them out since they were out of the risk age by the time they transitioned out of our room and the mattress used wouldn’t work for it.

Perfect Travel Monitor
We purchased this monitor to use while travelling. It hardly takes up any space in your bag, sets up very easily and doesn’t require any internet connection. The monitor has decent battery life and picture quality. The range is good too… I’ve used it in both hotel rooms and large homes with no connectivity issues. Highly recommend.

Solid basics, premium features poorly executed
I am keeping this baby monitor because it is ok, and I don't have the energy to test a bunch of different brands/models. I wanted a video monitor that wasn't connected to Wifi or my phone. This was recommended to me by a friend who was dissatisfied with other monitors she had tried. I was previously using a Wyze Pan Cam. For the price, I expected this monitor to be far superior in every way. Sadly, it is not. It covers the basics but falls short on all of its advertised premium features. See below. Pros: - Nice packaging - Easy set up - Monitor has a large screen with a menu that is easy to navigate. - Good sound detection on camera and loud speaker on monitor. Cons: - Compared with the Wyze camera, the overall picture resolution and night vision are inferior. The zoom function is not very useful as it is grainy with little contrast. I cannot see my baby's chest rise and fall. - Temperature gauge is not accurate when camera is wall-mounted. It is 2-3 degrees C higher than the crib temperature. - Clock gains time (about 15 minutes per week) and has to be reset regularly. - White noise feature is not loud enough with poor sound quality, tinny and scratchy. Still using a dedicated white noise machine. - Battery does not last the whole day, even when only checking the screen for a few seconds here and there. It also takes about 8 hours to fully charge. I have to plug it in overnight. The cable has a box on it (not sure the function of this) which is heavy and awkward. I cannot speak to the following features as I have not used them. - microphone - split-screen (I only have one camera.) - long range (I live in a small apartment.) - customer service (It has been working perfectly for over a month.) Although I admittedly have not done the research, there must be less expensive monitors on the market that have basic functions with comparable quality. This monitor sadly does not meet my expectations for my purposes. Perhaps, if you have different needs, it will be just the ticket for you and your family.
