do the battery drain problems still persist on the 1/2" model as mentioned in several reviews?

Well I have the big boy 3/4 drive torque adapter I don’t know anything about a battery drain problem all I can say is when you get finished using it take the batteries out

Can you "preset" your desired torque and the unit beep when you get there or must you constantly watch the meter?

Yes you can preset this device to the torque setting you want. This tool has 3 LED indicators and progressive audio notifications when reaching the specified torque.

Can you use it for left handed axle nuts?

Yes it can do left and right turns 🙃

Can i set the torque lower than 15 ft lb?

If the lower limit is 15 ft lbs, then that is the lower limit! Also, Torque Wrenches are inaccurate at their extremities.
