Wild Planet Wild White Anchovies in EVOO, 4.4 Ounce Can, Pack of 12

A good portion of these reviews are from people who didn't know there is a significant difference between white anchovies and brown anchovies. They are prepared very differently, which people should be aware of before purchasing if they are trying to get brown anchovies. These are white anchovies which are prepared in vinegar and are much milder and fuller, since the vinegar doesn't draw out all the liquid like the salt curing of brown anchovies does. I found these a touch dry but as they are packaged in EVOO I just used some of that drizzled on top to get that moisture back. Delicious flavor and texture, a wonderful alternate to sardines as a snack to get that tinned fish craving satisfied.

If your only experience with anchovies is the overly salty flat fillets style (like on pizza), you’re missing out. These protein and omega packed pescados are delicious and portable. My favorite way to eat them is to buy one of those arugula tubs and just dump the fish on with a little apple cider vinegar and fresh cracked pepper. They do have a strong fish odor, of course (it’s fish) but I think it’s more mild then sardines. I highly recommend getting these little superfood fishies in your diets.

These are more like sardines then your typical anchovies. They're not salty and full of flavor like normal anchovies. If you're looking for delicious sardines, this is your product. Can't even return huge pack of 12

Two different breeds of fish. Definitely sardines but they are REALLY GOOD SARDINES AT A DECENT PRICE! Now I need to go back in to order anchovies. The four stars are because they are misleading but again they are really good!

I’m a big fan of these delicious anchovies (though some people think of them as sardines!). I often find them on sale at my local supermarket, but I thought I’d try ordering them in larger quantities. I absolutely love them, and they’re perfect as a snack. Give them a shot—you might just become a fan too!

These might be anchovies but they are not the anchovies you're expecting and loving. They're not filets, they're much bigger, they're not salted or tasting the same and don't have the firm texture. They're not the stuff you put on pizzas or make Caesar salad dressing from. They're basically smaller sardines. I'm so disappointied after spending the money for anchovies to get what amounts to sardines. I like Wild Planet sardines and tuna very much. What a shock to get these.

Wild Planet Anchovies: There are several types of anchovies, and various ways they are packaged (which some reviewers don’t seem to understand). These specific anchovies from Wild Planet are very similar to their sardines in size and taste. They’re a little firmer and actually not as “fishy” tasting as most other anchovy brands. Anchovy nutrition profiles are slightly different than sardines, and still very-very healthy for us. I’ve had very good luck with all Wild Planet canned fish: sardines, anchovies and tuna as well. I consider them a “top tier” brand. I definitely recommend them💪 *Personally I prefer my anchovies in extra-virgin olive oil. Served over organic - jasmine rice (non-enriched). One whole lemon.
