Helen of Troy HotSetter 05 Travel Setter (#1305) [Health and Beauty]

I use to use another model of Helen of Troy, their Hotsetter 20 piece set, model #1321. They were excellent. However people complained that they were too hot, so they decided to make them differently, with what they now call "cool touch", using extended posts. Well guess what people, if they are cool, or semi-warm as these are, they won't curl your hair! I was so disappointed...I couldn't find any other make or model that was as good as the original. Until I tried these. Yes they are hot if you touch the body of the curler, but that is what the hair wraps around, and you need it hot to curl your hair! Hold the ends of the roller and roll it up. Simple. These are excellent for curling your hair, and they heat up fast. Unfortunately, they don't make a large set anymore, so I just decided to buy 4 of these. Yes, four of them. It was cheaper than buying extra rollers for the set, and if it ever dies, I have another set already. I have long layers, medium to thick hair, just past my shoulders, and these are perfect for my hair. I roll my hair, let them cool, take them out and just run my fingers through the curls. They hold, hold, hold. I don't not have to curl my hair everyday, my hair will still have beautiful body the next day, not as tight of a curl, but really nice. I have compliments on my hair all the time. I don't have the time or the desire to fuss with curling irons, besides, even that won't give you the beautiful curls that these rollers do. Buy them, you will not be disappointed. And please...if you love them like I do, let Helen of Troy know. Perhaps they will quit listening to the few whiners that say they are too hot. Like I said, just like a curling iron, they have to be hot to curl your hair. I am 54 years old, I have been using hot rollers since my 20's, I come from a family of hair professionals, trust me, I know what I am talking about. Don't think twice about buying them, there is nothing on the market as good as these. Oh, and the hot rollers have never ever damaged my hair. Use the right products in your hair, along with these, it will be gorgeous!!!

Kit was larger than expected. Rollers got dangerously hot. I couldn't even handle them with my fingers, let alone risk burning my scalp. Rollers were hard plastic that conducted heat with no protective soft covering. Couldn't use it.

These are cheap but only 3-4 curlers work each time - it is hit or miss but the 4 that do work are great!

I thought it was smaller to take on trips.The rollers were too big so I sent them back .i had to pay to return them .i did not hear from them.

i prefer to use the plastic, hinged clip and I just can't get a hang of these "old school" wire clips. they heat up quick and because of my curly hair smooth it out well.

received fast & just in time for trip to San Fran. They get really hot really fast. Had to be careful not to burn myself. Worked great! Compact & fit in suitcase well. good price too.

Love the convenience of these curlers. However, they are not "Helen of Troy", no brand name on curlers or the box. I bought them for the convenience, not the name. Very happy overall with the performance, they stay in my hair (length - 10" below my shoulders), unlike many other curlers. I agree with other reviews - they get very hot, which is another reason I picked these curlers over others. I would recommend this.
