Coghlan's 2-Count Camping Egg Holder – Durable, Compact, Lightweight Storage Container for Outdoor Cooking, Travel, and Camping Adventures

Been using these for the last 50 yrs. Great value. Perform as stated Gave to friends we supply with yard eggs and no broken eggs so far. The bottom is the side with smooth cup.

I wanted a good way to store my daughter’s palm-grasp crayons that would protect them from breaking. I decided since they were shaped like eggs, an egg holder should do the trick. And then I came across this wonderful egg holder and it worked perfectly! I just used a nail clipper to cut out the little tabs at the top of it (which was oddly satisfying) and it was a perfect fit. Now we can even take them on the go easily.

This is the best egg holder I’ve tried so far. It holds a dozen eggs in a very compact container. It will even hold jumbo eggs contrary to other reviews I read; I was able to fit a dozen jumbo eggs by inserting them bottom side up. Also, it holds the eggs securely so that they don’t move around and break against the inside of the hard plastic case. (At least the jumbo eggs don’t and I suspect extra larges won’t either. Not sure about smaller eggs.) The only thing I don’t like about is is the closure; kind of hard to get open and I feel like I might jostle the eggs while trying to open the container. However I’m not worried enough to deduct a star, I just make sure I’m careful while opening.

I bought two of these holders to carry boiled eggs to work. This saves on baggies & napkins, the method i used to carry boiled eggs before i bought these. I make 4 eggs at a time in a microwave egg cooker, and when they're cooled off they go into these holders. This is a great plan because now my eggs never crack in transit anymore. My problem is the 'hinge' of the holder is two pairs of very thin plastic line and those lines do not like to be stressed. One of my holders came in the mail with two of the four lines snapped, and a third snapped soon after. (They are very lightweight and it's understandable that you'd expect them to survive being mailed in a plastic mailer bag.) The top part is now literally hanging onto the bottom part by a thread. (The second one came intact in the same mailer.) I will fix this by boring two holes thru the top and two matching holes thru the bottom and inserting wire loops to keep these two halves together I guess. Or maybe Gorilla Glue? idk. I can rubberband it. Except for this weakness, I think the holders do a great job of carrying eggs. Additionally, I can put the broken shells right back into the holder when i'm done, take it all home, and compost the shells. Maybe if the holders are 'closed' for mailing, the hinges would be protected, but mine were mailed wide open, like in the picture. So one star taken off for that. Otherwise, it's a very good product and I do recommend it to anyone who wants to carry a couple of eggs.

I got 2 of these for a 2 week canoe trip and they worked wonderful. My wife was skeptical when I ordered them but she had to admit it was a good choice. I poked a hole in one egg trying it out and found and that the narrow part of the egg needs to point to the side with the little tabs. I also flexed each of the little tabs back a bit so that they didn't point straight into the eggs. We went one a two week canoe trip which included 20+ miles of portaging and never broke one egg. If/when these wear out or break I'll buy this again.

Great for camping

I bought this because I was tired of babying the egg cartons in our cooler. For a few dollars it seemed like a fair investment to not have to worry about if I was going to break some eggs and have a yolky mess inside. After using on a camping trip I was pleased with its performance, I was able to freely rummage through the cooler without babying the carton. That said, I discovered that for our family, 12 eggs is probably way more than we need on most trips. I would recommend the 6-egg carrier for people who aren't planning on cooking eggs for a large group (I've been mostly using eggs for pancake batter, and a couple eggs goes a long way there) -- it's smaller and saves room in your cooler/bag. Unfortunately, I think for fridge use this is probably over-spec'd (bigger than necessary), so I'll have to find some other use for it (maybe paint holder for the kids?).

I bought 3 of the 1 dozen egg holders for a camping trip. Generally speaking, and specially for the price (three bucks), thee are good. There two things that surprised me given is a camping oriented gear: 1. These are not stackable. Almost all forms of storage are stackable. If they are the same size you can stack them one of top of each other. If not of the same size, usually you nest them one into the bigger one. 2. Again, this is a camping oriented gear. Eggs needs refrigeration, therefore ice in cooler will melt. These should be sealed or waterproof so water don't get inside. Specially, some eggs will break. You don't want water mixing with the egg before you cook it, or the egg smell contaminating the rest of the food. People who designed clearly don't use them and more importantly, are not, neither consult camping people.

Coghlans make a number of useful, lightweight camping gadets (among other things) which don't cost and arm and a leg. Always simple, minimalist and durable. This egg box was a worry for me, I thought it would fail due to being made from solid plastic. However, the bottom of where the egg sits has slightly flexible prongs which the egg sits on so that any movement is cushioned slightly. No breakages on the first trip! Will update after a few more.

Fits large eggs

I bought this item because I wanted to take brown eggs with me on my next work assignment. As a travel nurse it usually takes me 2 days of travel and 3 planes to get to my destination. The egg holder is sturdy, compact, easy to pack in my carry-on and supported my eggs to arrive safely to my final destination.

Todo campista y ante de las actividades al aire libre debe tener un contenedor de huevos como este, pues protege adecuadamente los huevos para usarlos sin problema a la hora de consumirlos. Es muy útil para transportarlos en mochila o en cualquier recipiente donde se llevan otras provisiones durante las salidas para campismo o senderismo. A mí me funciona muy bien acomodandolos en el baúl de mi motocicleta, junto a latas y bolsas conteniendo comestibles durante mis salidas de excursión y rutas. Es un producto de buena calidad,su plástico rígido es lo suficiente resistente para proteger el contenido durante cualquier trayecto. Tiene una medida estándar que admite todos los huevos de talla comercial que venden en cualquier punto de venta de comestibles. Lo recomiendo ampliamente para todos los que necesitan llevar su provisión de huevos en sus expediciones.

Per chi come me, ha bisogno di portarsi dietro anche le uova, questo accessorio è troppo comodo! Contiene 2 uova medie senza problemi...👍🏼
