Great product, save an old toothbrush or pipe cleaner to clean it well
The cat kept trying to drink out of our sinks (probably because I forget to fill his old bowl) so I got him this. It works well, I like the filter option. Been using it over a month. It's not loud to me. It sounds exactly like my fish tank filter running. If you need quiter then stick with just a stagnant bowl as let's be honest here, you need silence. I've cleaned it twice, the first time I left some soap in it accidently so don't do that. The power cord is 68" from the very back of the bowl where it comes out to the bottom of the power plug. I know, you think it's weird I mention that but I didn't think about where the water dish used to be. It wasn't close enough to an outlet so the cat got relo'ed. Two things: 1) When you clean it you'll really need a toothbrush like device to get around the top dish groove that runs around the outside, as well as around the sides where the removable pump goes. Its not hard, I just mention it because I threw out a toothbrush a few days ago without thinking about needing to clean this. If you don't clean in this groove, or lift the suction of the motor out to clean under that, you will have some soap residue and your cat will be right back in your sink. It's pretty idiot proof for (re)assembly. The motor only fits one way. The top only fits one way. The little cover where the water comes up is easy to remove to clean in there and replace the cap one way. Except for one thing, 2) Replacement filters. Guess who doesn't pay attention if the old filter had the black or white side facing the motor? This guy. Do yourself a favor and sharpie on the back of the bowl as soon as you get it "black side of filter faces black motor". There. Because this filter is used in multiple models the printed instructions direct you online for the direction to put the new filter in. With the marker you've saved yourself time and frustration googling which way the replacement filters go into the machine. You're welcome future or past self, depending on which you identify with. All in all this is a solid purchase so far. I refill it once a week to avoid the water level dropping and burning out the motor. Depends on your pet(s) and climate of course. My cats not a spaz so I can fill the bottom bowl darn near the top. I can't speak for yours. They might be a spaz. But that's probably cool and you have lots of wacky pictures. I have a reminder in my phone every Wednesday to fill up the water. So there you have it. Cats happy and out of the sink. There's enough water to last a Vegas weekend (or more). Replacement filters are cheap enough. A quick clean once (or more-ish) a month and you're on to more productive and fun things in life. As a bonus the cat stays alive, and that's why we're really here, right?

Small but good design
We bought the PetSafe Stainless 360 water fountain 2 1/2 years ago for our first Maine Coon kitten, Floki. It was a hit but over time it was cumbersome to clean and putting it back together, and after the first couple of cleanings it never would push the water out of the top without me taking it apart at least one more time, usually took two or three tries. I liked that it was stainless but when full of water it was also heavy to move around. So, nice fountain but had it's flaws for us. Next we added Jax, Floki's Maine Coon brother from another littler and that boy is a real water cat! They both love drinking water which is great for their health, and they like to play with it, but Jax really makes an art out it. After watching the way they drink when in the tub and sink and how they tried to use the stainless fountain I realized that what they really liked best was a) a steady flow of water, and b) moving water that was easy to drink and put paws in. The stainless 360 fountain stream that came out of the pillar in the center degraded over time and even when freshly cleaned wasn't a good flow. I came across this Multi Tier found from PetSafe the other day and I thought, ok, this look more like what my cats really want. I debated because it's smaller and I had it in my mind that big cats need a big fountain. When I unpacked it this morning I was shocked at the small box the fountain itself was in and when I took it out I thought, oh, this really is small. Yes, I saw the dimensions online but that doesn't always give me a real idea of a thing. The Coons were instantly interested though, up on the kitchen island investigating the new fountain. Good sign. Getting the main part off in order to clean the pump and put the filter in wasn't easy but eventually it did come loose. The base is small enough that getting both hands in there as shown in the picture instruction didn't make it easy to really grasp ahold of the part that was to lift off, but I got that done, cleaned the pump, washed the fountain, put back together with the filter in place, filled with water and set on the floor mat. The Coons were at it instantly. This fountain design is, IMO, superior to the 360. It has a water well on the second tier and that water moves so the cats can sit there and drink from it or wash paws or play or whatever. The stream of water is just the overflow from that well, nothing to inhibit it so it's a nice steady stream, like having the bathroom faucet running on medium. So there's a good water sound too which cats love. The base well has moving water in it too because the stream flows into it. Jax, younger brother, likes to lay next to the fountain and drink from the base well. Then he sits up and licks the stream, and then he drinks from the second tier well. With the 360 they didn't spend much time trying to drink from the base. So even though this new fountain is quite a bit smaller, the amount of water it holds (100oz) is substantial (the 360 holds 128oz). It's lighter weight, and just being smaller it's easier to handle/move/clean. Not so many parts to finagle back together after cleaning either. Only time will tell how well it holds up and whether we continue to have that nice stream of water but it's a simple enough design that I think it should do pretty well. I may get a second one for another spot because a certain water cat likes to hog the fountain and his big brother might like a second option :) For now, I much prefer this smaller, better-designed fountain over the Stainless 360 though I'll keep that one and maybe set it up on the porch without the fountain head so that they can drink out of the top of the column when they are enjoying the fresh air.

Quiet and easy to maintain.
This product review is for the item listed as “PetSafe Drinkwell Multi-Tier Cat and Dog Water Fountain - Automatic Drinking Fountain for Pets - 100 Oz. Water Capacity (PWW00-13708), Grey” Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056ASTES/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 UPDATE: Almost exactly a year to the day we ordered this product, the pump burned out. Other than that, it's been a really good buy. We’ve had this pet fountain for about a month now. I read a number of reviews before making the purchase, and this fountain seem to have the least amount of negative feedback. I felt kind of like I was purchasing something that was going to come with inherent problems, but this product had the fewest inherent problems of all of the fountains about which I read. It seems we’ve been fortunate. Both cats and dogs enjoy the fountain. It runs fairly quiet until the water gets low or the structure filter becomes clogged (not the inserted filter—pictures attached). Even under those conditions the unit doesn’t become loud. The noise of the small pump just becomes more noticeable. Simply refill the fountain or clean it as necessary. We purchased this cleaning kit: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NHWMGU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I haven’t used the cleaning kit. I take the unit apart about once per week, rinse it out and wipe it down with a paper towel. I haven’t found any fungus or sludge, as others have reported. I feel like this is an important step though, because I can see the potential for algae should the fountain go overlong before being cleaned. The unit only has three pieces really (i.e., top structure, bottom structure and inserted filter). It’s important to be careful while pulling the fountain apart for cleaning, as the pieces are made of a thin-ish, brittle plastic that could crack or break with moderate pulling force (or impact with the floor). It’s easy to pull apart, as there are only two connection points between the top and bottom sections. Also, the filters need rinsed. I plan to change the charcoal filter once per month. We purchased these filters: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000W73M10/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Important note: it’s a good idea to place this unit on top of a plastic mat or similar. Water sloshes over the sides fairly easily. Also, I haven’t found it yet, but there seems to be a place in the back where water might be leaking through a joint. I could be wrong, but there seems to be a little water under the back-rear when I pick it up. Overall, I rate this fountain at four stars. It does the job and it’s easy to maintain. I took off a star, because the brittle plastic, the lack of seal between the top and bottom, and the quality of the pump. Having experience with similar products I can tell the pump won’t last long.

After 2 1/2 years has been a great product!
I purchased the PetSafe Drinkwell Multitier fountain in March 2020 for my 12 pound Maine Coon mixed cat. He loves having the continual flow of the fountain. A year later, we added a Cavachon pup to the family. The pup is now 30 pounds. Both of our pets enjoy drinking from this fountain. I typically add an inch of cold water twice a day to keep the fountain full. In the summer, I add ice cubes just to give them cooler water. For about the first year or so, I was cleaning the fountain once weekly by hand washing all the pieces in the kitchen sink. I purchased the PetSafe brush cleaning tools designed to clean the fountain which work great. In less than ten minutes, I could easily have the fountain cleaned and refilled. Easy-peasy! One day it happened I was going to be running the dishwasher, so I decided to put the base and top tier of the fountain top sides down in the upper rack of the dishwasher. The two pieces came out perfectly clean. The only thing I realized when using the dishwasher to do the cleaning is that the glossy sheen of the fountain was dulled. I’m not bothered by that, so now for the last year plus this has been how I choose to clean the fountain. I still have to take the small electric pump apart and clean it each time, but that hardly takes any time. Once a month, I mix a 3 part water (2cups) to 1 part white vinegar (2/3cup) solution in a deep cup and I allow the pump to run for about 30 minutes just to thoroughly clean the pump. To maintain the fountain, I change out the filter once a month. We have really hard water with a lot of lime so I also use refrigerated filtered water when filling the fountain. A friend who recommended the fountain to me actually doesn’t even use filters in her pets fountain. She has two medium sized cats and this works for her. I find after about two weeks though, the filter in the fountain begins to look discolored a bit likely from my pups saliva. Not enough to necessitate changing the filter, but it makes me think the filter is serving a purpose so even though I use filtered water, I still use replacement carbon filters like the one that came with the fountain. There was a period of 12 weeks last year when I was pet sitting for my daughter so a French Bulldog and a Pomerania were also utilizing the fountain. Because Frenchies slobber like they do, I found it necessary to clean the fountain every 4 days and needed to change the carbon filter every two weeks. But even with four pets, the fountain did a great job of supplying clean water. I really could not be happier with this fountain and now having had it for the last 21/2 years, I feel like it was money well spent. I recommend this fountain to all my friends with pets. I would purchase it again without hesitation. One suggestion I have is to put a one inch or so deep tray under the fountain base. What I use is a tray designed to hold wet shoes and boots by the front door. My cat likes to wash his paws in the fountain which inevitably results in a puddle of splashed water being on the floor. The tray helps contain the mess. Plus, the lip on the tray gives me a place to tuck the pump cord so my cat doesn’t chew on it! Also, if the fountain sounds abnormally noisy, check to see that the pump is sitting away from the inner wall of the base. There are guides on the bottom of the base to show where the pump should sit, but if the pump is up against the outer wall, you will hear a vibration. Second cause could be the level of the water in the fountain is too low. You may need to be filling the fountain more frequently. You should only be hearing a soft gurgling sound of the water if the fountain is working correctly.

It's alright, wouldn't necessarily buy another of this type.
I like the size of water fountain. My cat uses it just as much as he did his previous ones. It holds a lot more water than his old one which is a big bonus. The main negatives are that when you need to clean it, all that water is easy to tip over while moving it from floor to sink. Also, there's this little hollow that runs up the side by the motor that if you don't keep the fountain 100% level while picking it up and moving it, the water will spill out leaving a huge trail from the fountain spot to the sink. So every time I clean the fountain, I end up having to wipe up a ton of water as well. When flat on the floor, no water leaks, but it really is a pain to clean it without water going every where. Also, the motor started off fairly quiet but over a few months time has gotten louder. I also had a 2 week period where it was super loud, then quieted down again. I cleaned it several times as it got louder after I cleaned it, thinking something had gotten in in, but no luck. It has quieted back down for some reason, but not counting on this to last. Update: 2 years later. One, this fountain HAS lasted more than two years since I bought it which is pretty awesome. That being said, I'm getting another type now that it's dying. The little channel that I mentioned earlier has been a pain in the butt the whole time I've owned this fountain. EVERY time you go to clean it, it leaks because it's so easy for the water to enter it. Trying to get it from the floor to the sink leaves a trail of water to clean up. So, good motor but the leaking isn't something I'm willing to deal with any longer.

Logical Upgrade!!!
This fountain is an upgrade from their previous model (white) that I purchased from Walmart and has a filter half the size of the newer upgraded model. I'm glad they doubled the filter surface area of this model as I was thinking I was going to have to 3D Design and print a larger filter unit for the old model!!! This new one is a great design as it provides two tiers for the cats to drink from! As you can see, I have it in a rubber boot tray for any spills and have it pulled out from the wall as I know that at least two of my four silly cats drinks from the back side!!! Super easy to clean, I just put the plastic reservoirs on the top rack of the dishwasher and hand clean the pump with a toothbrush and straw bristle brush. Nice big water capacity and nothing leaks. PLUS cats have access to both water reservoirs if the power does go out!!!--a critical aspect that designers of other fountains overlook!!! As for filtration, this unit has the plastic grill that helps trap long hair from getting to the main filter and clogging it up. Additionally, there is a deep trough around the perimeter of the upper reservoir that allows particulates (food pieces) to settle out and drop to the bottom so they don't get recirculated back into the water stream. This is a design that a one star reviewer was critical about and didn't even understand the reason for its inclusion!!!--boggles the mind how they missed the obvious!!! Overall this fountain is ridiculously easy to use and functions great!!!--Believe me as I've setup filtration and water for aquariums and simplicity and logic is how natural designs work best!!! In other words, over-engineered systems aren't always the best! This fountain is well designed without being over-engineered!!!

My kitty loves it
My cat started acting differently for a couple of weeks and stopped peeing almost entirely. After 8+ hours at the vet the verdict was that my cat was mildly dehyrdrated, causing a shift in her behavior and attitude towards me. Knowing that she used to love drinking from the faucet, I bought the fountain hoping it would encourage her to play in the water a bit and get her drinking a little more. It's worked; she drinks a lot from it every day, and she's doing a lot better physically and temperamentally. It's pretty easy to keep clean; about once a week I unplug it, dump it out, scrub it down, rinse, and refill with water, and throughout the week I just dump more water in for her. The motor is really quiet unless the water is low, it's not hard to keep it clean; my one complaint is that I have trouble taking the fountain apart, as the top piece doesn't want to come off of the bottom. EDIT, 7/4/2018. I've had this fountain for almost a year now. I thought I should update my review! First things first, it did at one point stop working, because I hadn't realized the pump came apart for cleaning. It is VITAL that you clean the pump every week, or scum builds up in each part of it and ceases the movement of the propeller. I took the pump apart piece by piece, cleaned it thoroughly, and got it working again. If your pump has stopped working after months of use, try this first. Second, I've realized it is a bit of a pain to clean without special tools. Scum builds up in every corner where there's a sharp edge to cling to. So make sure you're scrubbing it really well, once or twice a week, so your pets aren't drinking it. Third, my cat still loves it. She's so picky, she won't drink from anything else now. She's doing much better these days. Overall, I still think it's a good fountain and works well for a small animal. I've recommended it to friends and I would again. Just make sure you're taking care of it.

Decent pet fountain on the smaller side
A good and functional fountain with a nice color. Water is cool and flows down fine, the filter and pump work well enough. They do get clogged but it's easy to clean and replace. Also easy to put together. Good for your cats but a bit on the smaller side. Plastic is fine but remember to clean it often. Overall it's decent for its price, would recommend looking for something a bit bigger but this is still good.

Best fountain for cats- EVER!
**I bought it in March 2023 and am reviewing it now after 3.5 months of continuous use.** I’ve had cats my whole life, I have bought a lot of fountains over the years. I currently have three cats (two are 1 year, 10 months and youngest is just 1 year) and they all LOVE this fountain. The two tier design is brilliant, they can all drink at the same time if they want, there’s option of drinking from the “pools” or from the stream trickling down from top to bottom. It’s the quietest fountain motor of all I’ve ever owned (you still hear trickling water sounds) and all three cats began using it right away. You can keep the water level pretty high so very little whisker sensitivity issues for the cats. I’ve cleaned it once in the 3.5 months of use and changed the filter once. I have all DSH cats so I think if you had medium or long haired cats you’d have to do this more often, likely every month. Taking apart and cleaning is sooooo easy and fast. I hand wash all parts in hot water. I bought replacement 3 pack of filters at my local pet store cheaper than offered for sale on this platform. I also wrote on the back of the fountain in sharpie a little reminder (see pic) of which way the filter goes back in as it’s easy to pull it out of the fountain and forget which way was which. Highly recommend this fountain for cats.

Great fountain
Honestly just a really good and efficient fountain. I got this when I adopted my cat because she kept moving her bowl around and making a mess. My big dog drinks from the larger bottom part and the cat drinks from the moving fountain part itself. It's easy to completely disassemble, the instructions show you how to even take the pump out so you can put it in the dishwasher, which is the reason I got this particular fountain. The pump is quiet when the fountain is full and makes a bit more noise when the water gets lower, nice way to tell it needs to be filled again. And the filter actually works really well, in other fountains I've found the filter nearly useless but this one does the job pretty well. First time I washed it out it had managed to catch a fairly big quantity of airborne pet hair that had landed in the water and the pumped didn't sound stressed and the filter port wasn't yet clogged. Overall I'm really impressed, the cord is nice and long and disconnects in the middle for easy washing.

A great product
I was switching from a different fountain that seemed to need water all the time or the awful sound of the pump running dry happened. This fountain has been a much better choice for my two toy poodles. There is a much better well for them to drink from, the well capacity is much larger than the other one, and doesn't need filling every hour. It is silent, but for the occasional sound of a trickle. I am very pleased with this fountain and would recommend it highly.
