This charming little feeder lives up to its promises ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved it so much I bought a second one—enough said. With a 50% discount bringing it to about $5, it's an incredible bargain. The mason jar design is deceptively simple: a strong wire hanger, a screw-on metal lid, and vivid red feeding ports that hummingbirds find irresistible. As shown in my photo, they quickly discover it! What I appreciate most: The small jar size is actually advantageous, not a drawback. It's ideal for a small visiting flock, keeping the sugar syrup fresh and minimizing waste. Cleaning is straightforward—simply remove the lid, rinse, and refill. No complex parts or stubborn residue. Hanging is just as easy—the wire cradle secures the jar firmly, and the hook loop at the top fits any standard shepherd's hook or porch hanger. In summary, if you seek a simple, affordable feeder that birds truly enjoy, this is the one. I now keep a spare—at this price, why not? Purchased twice. No regrets.

Both of my feeders arrived in perfect condition: neither was broken or cracked, which would be the only reason I'd ever give this product a poor rating. Most of the other bad reviews complain of (1) spillage (which is NOT a problem if you don't go over the fill line), (2) it being too small (that's a huge POSITIVE, unless you have heavy hummingbird traffic), and (3) that the HB's don't use it (I'd been using a red glass feeder with a perch before this, and the same local birds are now using this new one, despite it being made of clear glass and there being nowhere for the birds to perch). Fermentation of sugar water (into alcohol) causes liver damage, which KILLS hummingbirds! If you are leaving your HB feeder out for extended periods without changing the fluid, then YOU are directly responsible for the decimation of your local HB population. I'm pretty sure that harming hummingbirds is NOT the goal of anyone making an effort to feed them, but that is sadly the consequence of uninformed people allowing their nectar to sit there for way too long and to start fermenting. PLEASE look it up online and see how often you need to change out your HB nectar (it will depend on the average temperature), EVEN IF there is a bunch left that you have to pour down the sink. Please don't be the person who poisons and kills these magnificent birds because of simple ignorance about how unsafe it is to leave the nectar out there for too long. In the springtime - even though I live in the relatively cool Pacific NW - my limit is only 2-4 days before fermentation starts becoming a problem. If your daytime highs are at or above the mid 90's, you should be cleaning the feeders and replacing the nectar EVERY EVENING! If that's too much of a hassle for you, should just be letting your birds use other peoples' feeders or the local flowering plants. That is why these small feeders are great for low traffic areas, like my yard. You'll still need to replace the nectar frequently (see above), but because these hold only 6 ounces you will not be wasting your time and effort making the nectar, just to end-up having to throw most of it away. I make about 6 cups at a time and keep it in the fridge, where it lasts a good while. These little feeders' shallow shape and wide-mouth opening makes them super easy to wash with just your hands/fingers and a drop of soap. You will not need a bird-dedicated bottle brush for these (as you do for most of the feeders out there, which are impossible to get your hand into). My 28 oz feeders were WAY too large for my yard's relatively minor hummingbird trafficc, so I was only putting 8 oz (1 cup) of nectar in at a time. Once turned over and hung, that amount would basically only fill the base; barely an inch of nectar would be visible in the NECK of the glass bottle, just above the base (ie about 90% of the bottle above that sat empty). After minimal feeding hasd taken place I couldn't even see how much nectar remained in the base (I'd only know once I took it down to empty and clean it). These feeders are great because they hang with the opening facing up, so there is no guessing as to how much nectar remains, and you can easily see if birds have completely emptied them faster than you'd expected. I am SO happy to have found these small feeders!! Unless I move to an area that has MUCH more HB traffic, I'll never use anything larger than these 6 oz feeders again.

The hummingbirds love this! This feeder is well designed for easy cleaning. However, be careful when removing and replacing the silicone flowers. The holes for the flowers are rough cut into the glass and can chip easily.

Update: still great after using through spring and summer. Activity picked up, so it’s mostly if not fully drained within a couple days. There’s always some left in my other two, which can hold a few more ounces and apparently are a little less appealing than this one (though they still drink from both types). The only times it isn’t drained is when there are particularly territorial birds chasing off all others - such feisty, tiny creatures :) The flowers have faded a little, but I think they’ll be fine for at least a full year of use before I consider buying replacements. They might fade faster in areas with less shade. Original review: Cute, good size, and most importantly, easy to clean thoroughly (feeders need to be cleaned every 3 days or more often in hot weather). I’ve had this up for a month, along with two single plastic flower feeders (one visible in video) that are less easy to clean. The hummingbirds found it and my other feeders quickly, and use both types even though this one doesn’t have perches like the other two. I have noticed a tiny bit of fading on the flowers, and based on other reviews imagine that might be worse in summer, and saw that replacements are currently out of stock in the only online store I could find them - so hopefully by the time the fading is worse they’ll be in stock, they are pretty cheap. I’m surprised there aren’t more small feeders on the market because even this one doesn’t get fully drained and I am dumping a decent amount of nectar every time I clean. Maybe there will be more birds in the summer to drain it faster, right now I have at least 5 regulars, and haven’t noticed other feeders nearby in the apartment dense area of Los Angeles I live in, although there are definitely gardens with good flower options around. I like that it has the one to four recipe to make nectar with white sugar and hot water imprinted on the side of the jar, so people are made aware of how easy (and cheap) it is to make it rather than buy the store bottles of nectar that often have harmful red dye. I haven’t noticed bees, but will update my review if there’s an issue when it’s warmer, though I think this type is more bee proof than the upside-down bottle types that tend to leak and the fact it doesn’t have yellow parts should help. I haven’t noticed rusting issues, but I hand wash them and dry off the metal lids right after washing (probably helps that in rarely rains here). I do want to note, when I ordered this off Amazon in December 2020 it was about $9, and now it’s almost double - so I just went to Home Depot today and bought three of the same exact one for $7 per feeder, so I can swap out for cleaning more easily and hang one up on the other side of the balcony to reduce territorial issues.

This feeder is one of our Hummers' favorites! However, there's a design flaw.. The tiny container can only be partially filled... The flower's stems are inserted through holes drilled through the glass. If the nectar inside touches the bottom of a stem, 'siphoning action' occurs and the nectar is drawn up along the sides of the stem and it seeps out through the hole in the glass... This tiny bit of nectar sweetness on the outside of the container is an enormous attractant to bees and hornets.. They cluster on the outside and deter the hummingbirds from safely hovering to feed. Silicone applied around the stem from the interior might fix this. Additionally, if the container is filled even higher, the nectar runs out of the feeding ports.. The containers are tiny and due to this design flaw, only about 1/2 inch of nectar can be used at a time.. The feeders must be refilled frequently and extreme care must be taken each time to ensure that the level of the nectar is not too high. Three stars for this reason.

These have been great. We have been using them for two or three years. The smaller size forces me to clean and refill daily which is a very good thing. Because they are made of glass and the flowers are silicone I can boil them to disinfect them. The spare flowers are a great idea since the orioles pull them out and either leave them on the ground or carry them away. It is too bad the red color of the flowers isn't stable in the sun so that they would be easier to spot in our yard. I have only found one out of the four that the orioles pulled out. I finally glued them in before I run out of spares. By the way are spares available?

Perfect size for territorial ruby throated hummingbirds that don’t allow anyone else at the feeder. Very cute design that is easy to clean, and it’s great that the nectar formula is printed right into the glass so you can make your own.

The holes that have been drilled into the glass container to insert the red plastic "flowers" don't fit snugly. As a result, any liquid past the lowest point of those holes leaks out. The container is already tiny, that means only a very small amount of nectar is in the container at best - if there's any wind, the container gets moved and more liquid sloshes out. As a result, I have to refill once a day. Not because I have that many hummingbirds visiting - but because I keep on losing the liquid. The whole point of having a hummingbird feeder is to feed hummingbirds, not a colony of very happy ants at the ground. I bought this feeder because I was looking for something that's easy to clean. That is about the only thing it gets right. Still one star because it doesn't do the one job it has. The fix would be easy: situate the holes at the top of the glass container and provide a rubber seal around the hole to ensure a tight fit. And while you're at it: a little ledge running around the feeder for the hummingbirds to rest while feeding. I'd love to share a picture of hummingbirds feeding - but I've yet to see one. Meanwhile, my other feeding station (using another brand of feeder) is pretty busy.

I absolutely LOVE this hummingbird feeder. Not only is it easy to clean if you ONLY fill to the line indicated it NEVER leaks. If you overfill it, it will leak for sure. I was a little worried that the birds would not be able to get any sugar water out, however they proved me wrong and drank it dry. I also like that it's so small that I have to refill every couple of days, this way I'm guaranteed that the sugar water is FRESH. I clean the flowers with a pipe cleaner and it is very easy to clean. Another thing that I was worried about was that they would not have a place to perch like my old feeder, again they surprised me and perched on the hanger that it hangs by.
