This bookmark kit is so lovely. It's on 18ct fabric, so not for the faint of heart. The kit includes a single canvas with all 4 bookmarks together along with a legend, 62 colors of 6 ply embroidery floss, 2 needles, 4 pieces of branded heavy cardstock for the bookmark backing, detailed instructions on how to make the bookmarks (including photos of how to do the stitching around edges of the bookmarks), and a full color glossy photo with a slightly different legend. The legend on the full color glossy photo is very useful. It includes the number that corresponds to the floss cards, the corresponding DMC number, the solid color used on the material, and the symbol used on the glossy photo. The legend on the material shows the thread number, the solid color as shown on the material, and the DMC number. The material itself uses only the solid colors (no symbols), so what you see right out of the package are these beautiful scenes with the appropriate colors. I didn't see any mention in the kit of soaking the fabric afterwards, but these are so pretty as is, I'm have tempted not to cross stitch them at all. The listing does indicate "Simply soak the fabric for half an hour", but then again it refers in 2 places to it being 11ct. This is probably a cut a paste error. Usually you would soak a stamped cross stitch project upon completion when the kit uses all manor of colors that are drastically different from the corresponding thread color. Hmmm. Maybe you could get away without stitching them at all??? But I digress. The glossy photo has the symbols as indicated on that legend. The idea is that if you are having trouble figuring out which color to use where, you can refer to the glossy copy to help you make that distinction. My only downside is that I wish that the glossy copy showed the bookmarks in a larger size. Enlarging the copy makes some of the "white symbols on a dark color" still too difficult to read. For these situations, I'll rely more on the color legend on the material. Either way, it's still a stunning kit by Maydear.

Beautiful design and excellent quality. The colors are vibrant, the details are clear, and the final result is stunning. It took time and patience, but the end result was completely worth it. I’m very satisfied and would definitely recommend it.

This is my first time purchasing a cross stitch kit from this Seller and I am so far very impressed! Here's the features I fine most impressive: 1. The 11ct Aida cloth that the picture is printed on has been interlock sewn around the raw edges, so no taping necessary and, more importantly, NO FRAYING while stitching (which is soooooooo annoying)! 2. There seems to be PLENTY of thread. If you follow the instructions and only use 3 strands at a time, you should definitely have enough. If for some reason you do end up short, they include a key to the corresponding color # for DMC floss, so you can alway get more. This is definitely a plus (for people like me whose pet sometimes wants to "help" with projects, only to end up with a tangled mess lol). 3. The pattern and color key is printed directly in the cloth, and it is easy to read. They also include A HARD COPY of the pattern!! You know, if you drink tea while stitching, like me, and your cloth happens to get wet causing the print to smear, smudge, or disappear entirely. Plus, you have a copy of the pattern so you can make another for friends or family!!! 4. Shipping was FREE and SUPER FAST. It actually arrived OVERNIGHT, so I didn't have to wait very long and could get started right away. Although I do have a feeling this project will take me a while to finish, but definitely worth it!! 5. The PRICE (this should have been in the #1 spot)! I had been wanting the Van Gogh Starry Night cross stitch kit for a while, and finally finish all my current WIPs to be able to get it. I was totally shocked when I came across this Seller's listing at this price. I paid $18.29 USD total with FREE overnight shipping (as I mentioned above). I have seen other sellers listing it for as much as $50 USD for the exact same size (23" x 18"). So, I have definitely found my new cross stitch supplier from now on.....Thanks, Maydear!!! There are only ONE very minor thing that I wasn't very satisfied with, and that is the 2 needles they have included. Typically, I am able to thread 3 strands onto a cross stitch needle without any problems, however these needles have a very narrow head, so it's difficult and I had to go fetch my needle threader (no biggie). In addition, they are very short, which isn't great for my stubby fingers lol. So I used a needle from my stash instead. For me this wasn't an issue but for others it might be. So I strongly suggest that you have some additional cross stitch needles on hand, in case you run into the same issues that I had. The ONLY other thing I would love is if Maydear had this in an even larger size. That would be awesome! Anyway, needless to say, I am over the moon with everything about my new cross stitch project (which also happens to be my most favorite image ever). I am excited to get started...I will update this review if I come across anything that seems important for y'all to know. Until then, Happy Stitching!!

Bunny in bag - While the end result is pretty, there are a few areas that fell short of expectations. The colors differ from those advertised, which was quite disappointing. Additionally, the instructions for backstitching could be improved - many of these were in between weaves which made it difficult to follow. The thread quality was not the best either. Sea in bottle - I was really excited about this one and it looks pretty 😍 the backstitch was however the hard part because of which I took it slow.

I started this project 9 months ago, it will take you a while but be patient it is worth it. I have been cross stitching for over 30 years. It is very easy to follow the colors and stitches. A few suggestions: put each color thread in an individual small baggie and label it. I did not hoop it as I did not want all the creases. I did some of it standing up over my craft table. I also brought it with me when we were camping and would work on it during the day by the campfire. When I was finished, I filled up my tub a couple of inches of hot water and the colors immediately started coming off. (the borders and the cross stitch colors) After 10 minutes, I drained the tub water of the colored water and did the same thing again. I then did it a third time and all the color washed away. I hung it on a hanger that had two clips to dry. It dried over night. I spent an hour this morning going over it to see if I had missed any stitches and I had so I added them. I ironed it, and got it positioned just right. I am very pleased with how it came out, it looks so real! Enjoy the project and take your time. The frame I also got on amazon, it is plexiglass and is nice and light.

Cute but the kit doesn't have any thread for the background. I spent as much money to go out and buy that thread as I did on the entire kit.

Tools I recommend: * Reading glasses, especially if you're older or this is your first time using 18-count Aida. * Email / use the contact link in the seller's page and ask for a pdf of the stitch chart! They sent me one within 48 hours of my request, and it's now incredibly easy to read when I can just keep a window with the chart open on my computer and can zoom in and out as needed. Love: + The floss came sorted on two separate cards, with DMC numbers included (very useful for those of us who have thread-stealing pets) + The printing on the aida cloth was precise + As far as I can tell the printing on the key columns along the far sides of the fabric matches the printing on the bookmarks exactly. With a less-complex pattern or fewer very similar colors, it could have helped to figure out which colors to stitch where + The needle that came with the kit has lasted at least halfway to completion. Difficult: - This is not a kit where you can depend on following the printed-on design and ignoring the chart. There are so many similar colors in this kit that even though the cloth is well-printed, sometimes you just can't tell the difference when looking with just your eyes. - The printed chart that came with the kit was not printed in high-enough resolution. Several of the color/symbol combinations didn't show up well on the chart. Other reviewers have included photos that frankly look sharper on my computer monitor than my printed chart looks. - Even when I can _almost_ discern the symbol, the chart uses similar symbols right next to each other: is that a light plum square with a white "b" or a lighter plum square with a white "p"? Is that mint green with a solid black diamond/rhombus or sage green with a solid black circle? . . . If the designers had consciously used unlike symbols next to each other, once I could identify one color/symbol it could have been a little easier to at least rule out some possibilities for the ones next to it.

Poor, fraying floss. Could be old, or low quality. 60 colors needed for this small project, so I used the floss provided anyways.

I love cross stitch but am having a hard time concentrating lately, and this stamped kit lets me stitch with ease. Highly recommend.

Update: finished product. Took about 2 years so it's a big project. Turned out great. I did use different colored threads on the black part to create more shapes. Lots of threads left over too. Pros: - Easy to do "stitch by numbers" - Design is printed on aida sheet with nice contrasting colors to indicate different colored threads to use - Clear instructions. The grid and design can be washed off after completion. - Good quality threads. No issues with them breaking. Cons: - wish more designs are available.
