The dual-purpose Wildlife World Simon King Secret Nester Bird Habitat is the perfect addition to any bird-friendly backyard. This bird's nest was developed in conjunction with British naturalist and wildlife cameraman Simon King, using his many years of knowledge watching and photographing wildlife. The design principle is that many small birds prefer an open style nest box with easy access. These backyard birds also like to be concealed from the prying eyes of predators. This lightweight bird habitat is suitable for many bird species that prefer the style of an open-fronted nester. This kit includes everything you need to simply hang from anywhere. The bird nest pocket can be wired into a hedge or ivy, or attached to a wall using the supplied spare loop of fixing wire. All bird lovers understand the importance of nesting boxes for providing birds with suitable nesting sites. But after the nesting season comes to an end, roosting pockets can be even more vital for a bird’s survival. Each species has a different roosting behaviour. Some will choose to roost alone whereas others will favor sharing body heat and roost in groups. The one thing they all look for is somewhere to sleep that is secure, comfortable and will protect them from potential predators. Cozy roosting spaces out of the prevailing wind in your garden can be a lifesaver for small birds during harsh weather conditions. Without somewhere to shelter and sleep they use up vital energy reserves just trying to keep warm. To ensure they do keep the worst of the weather out, it is best to position roosting pockets in a sheltered place, preferably facing south or east. They should be secure when they are fixed, not swinging freely in the wind. Hang this nest to a tree or post, or use the included wire to attach to hedge or ivy. Based in Gloucestershire, UK, Wildlife World designs and manufactures wildlife-friendly products. Our efforts to produce innovative and valuable nesting habitats and feeders for birds, mammals, amphibians, and pollinators benefit wildlife all over the world. Review: Exactly what our birds needed - Last year the robins kept trying to start a nest in this specific spot but couldn’t make it work. I ordered this but it was too late it in the season for anyone to claim it for more than a quick stop. I’m so excited to say that this year a pair of house finches are calling it home. It was very easy to secure and is well made. So far the birds seem very happy with it and mama bird peers out to watch as we come and go from the house. Review: These Are Wonderful/Ignore the Naysaying - I put 2 up...under eaves of home. Very safe for them. No critters can get to them in this area. It's so drier/much warmer in these. Easy to hang...like a few seconds and they aren't garish or tacky. I'm so happy each time I see them, they definitely are being used. I rinsed them off really well and dried them... when they first arrived. I'm tired of dolts giving bad reviews for things that obv. had to be manufactured. Like almost everything does right? Duh. They are great! Period.

Well made and sturdy, hard to install
This is a well made, sturdy roost which should hold up for several years. What I had trouble with was how to attach the roost to the dense shrubbery in a protected location. The roost came with some wire which was very short, and came undone. I just reattached the roost on each end using twine which I threaded through the wires which are part of the roost's structure. I would have liked the roost to come with installation ideas.

Awesome Nest
Purchased this nest a few years ago. We had a Robin lay eggs in a nearby tree and she kept knocking the babies out, so we purchased this. The first year no one used it. Second year, these sparrows used it and have come back each year. This is their 3rd year & I swear they have annual reunions with their kids because randomly I’ll walk out to 12 or so sparrows hanging out on my porch. Only reason I’m coming back to review is because the nest is infested with mites and I want to purchase another one to replace it with! If it wasn’t for the mites, this nest would’ve held up for many many more years. 10/10 would recommend.

Great idea but materials horrible
I bought it to put up under the over hang on my barn so the birds nest there instead of the wreath on my door etc. but the material it’s made out of is like wire and I can’t imagine a bird wanting to nest in there with all that spikey stuff poking out all over. I might take that all off and use the frame and cover it with coco liner instead.

Birdy Birdy, Where IS that Birdy?
This bird's nest is really neat. It is really well put together, actually the way it is constructed is actually complex! The wire used to form the frame and to make everything stay that way is identically colored like the "grass" material that the nest is made of. Inside the nest, is a "shelf" which the bird can use to sit on, stand on or build their own nest on. The hole is on one end, leaving the rest of the "bird's nest" for the birds to customize their own nest within this neat. Beautiful color and will blend with any foliage or fauna.

Beautiful Hideaway
Love the product and as winter arrives I want to have this hung in a good spot for my birds. I am involved with Project Feeder Watch/Cornell University, and this would be so nice for those birds seeking shelter.

Seems to be holding up
I made a shelf for this on the front porch. They were always trying to build there with no luck before and creating a mess. So, I put this up and it was used within a week. 2 babies came and went. (no more mess) Then round 2, however a problem happened the following month. The 2nd round nesting was attacked by black crows, so the nest was abandoned. The opening is so large this couldn't be helped so I closed it in with some hardboard. We'll see. The craftsmanship of this is just "ok".

Lovely robin house
I got this during the very cold snap recently as I have a robin in the garden. As the temperature dropped to minus 7 degrees I noticed he was following me all around the garden. I figured because the ground was frozen he couldn't peck for food in the soil. That made me realise there was little shelter from the cold as all the trees had dropped their leaves. I wondered where he was sleeping at night to protect against the cold . I couldn't find anywhere obvious that was his nest so I bought this one for him. It's made of twigs and quite roomy for a small bird to build a nest inside. It also has a rainproof roof. I don't know if he used it as I didn't want to intrude in case he felt threatened by my presence but he survived the two weeks of below freezing weather with the help of shelter and regular food I put out. For the price it's good value for money and it looks natural among the trees. You can also fix it to a shed or somewhere similar.
